It was a beautiful evening at our Palm Mortuary, King David facility, where we met for International and Nevada State Holocaust Remembrance Day. We remembered the evil and celebrated those still living and their children's children. I'm proud to be part of an organization like Palm Mortuary. We have the only Jewish Cemetery in Southern Nevada and the only Holocaust Memorial in the State. I realize this is New, not the Old Testament. Romans 12:18 instructs us to "live at peace with everyone" if it is possible, as far as it depends on them." Happy Wednesday. read more

Jay Poster and his staff at King David were tremendous in assisting us with the funeral arrangements for our mom who had to be transferred to Las Vegas from Evansville, Indiana. Between Shabbat and the last two days of Passover, we had a major timing issue which caused much stress between my family who were flying from Indiana, Maryland and New York. Jay was able to navigate through the family issues during a most stressful time for our family. We greatly appreciate his "working out of the box" to help us. My father passed away and there were no funeral plans in place. We are Jewish and the first place we called said Nevada works differently than NY or California and it could take weeks before we were able to get my father in ground. I spoke to Jay and he said, "we can make it happen.' We dealt with Jay and Tom Cropp. Tom walked us through the whole process with care and dignity. We were all very appreciative to the entire staff at King David. read more

Thank you for making a difficult day easier. Yes, a couple hiccups, but overall an excellent job.

Jay, over the years I have had occasion to work with the staffs of many of the mortuaries and funeral homes around Las Vegas to include the Veterans cemetery in Boulder City,. But the one thing that stands out in my mind was the assistance, cooperativeness, kindness, and caring your staff provided to me and to the Bacher family when I conducted AlanBacher's funeral earlier this month. Over the years I guess I have never come to expect such caring and kindness both in how they assisted me and how they worked to make the family comfortable in such difficult times. You can be very proud of the staff with which you have surrounded yourself. Thanks for the opportunity to work with such wonderful people, Mort read more

My mother passed on a Saturday in Las Vegas and needed to be transported to New York for her burial. This was a challenging set of circumstances in light of the fact that this occurred during the sabbath, and tradition and my family wanted her buried as soon as possible. Jay Poster went above and beyond to make certain this was accomplished in spite of many governmental obstacles in his way. He was professional, calm and re-assuring to both my sister and I, kept us informed of the process and Mom made it to New York, without a glitch, on the first plane that was available. My family and I are very grateful for the care and compassion that she received from King David Memorial Chapel. read more

I feel so blessed to have reached out to King David Mortuary & was able to work with their General Manager, Jay Poster & their Family Service Director, Sheryl Chenin-Webb. It was not easy making funeral arrangements for a much younger brother, but both of them immediately put me at ease and streamlined everything, so that it was much easier than I would have thought. This is a very friendly, but very professional mortuary, & things went very smoothly from beginning to end. I am very grateful. Kaaren Powers read more

Jay Poster, Jessica Schedeneck and staff at King David were absolutely amazing from beginning to end. Even though my father was not Jewish, I only wanted someone I could trust to handle my father's funeral arrangements. My husband and I reached out to Jay and he said he would be honored to assist us regardless of my fathers religious affiliations. I felt that the entire staff at King David were truly sincere and cared about my family. Jay was honest and did not pressure us at any time to purchase any unwanted items or services. He took his time and explained everything slowly and clearly so we could make informed decisions during a time we were under great stress and heavily grieving. Jessica showed great patience helping us find the perfect plot, when my mother did not feel right about the first few plots that were presented. With her dedication to making us happy, we ended up finding the perfect spot. My fathers funeral was so completely and carefully executed which relieved so much stress for my family. The service was so unbelievably beautiful- it was exactly what my father deserved. We blended a few Jewish traditions with Christian traditions and it was just really really special and precious to us... I will never forget it. Words fall short of how thankful my family is to the staff at King David. At a time when you really need to be in the hands of people you can trust, I would look no further than King David Memorial Chapel. read more

I volunteer for Find-a-Grave. It's people from other parts of the world seeking a photograph of their relatives final resting place. This cemetery is the most unfriendly, and rude cemeteries I have been to in our Clark County area, the absolute worst. They are not fans of us coming to take just ONE picture of ONE grave that someone from back east that is asking us for a huge favor. I do not get paid, I am trying to do something nice for someone I never met, and will never meet. Just give them some peace to see their loved ones name :( but the push back from this place. I have gone here on two occasions. The first time I came across a man that said "well okay I will tell you where ONE is! But that's it!" and I had a list of five I was looking for :( he took me to the grave and I was able to make someone in PA smile. The rest, oh well. So here I come back, to see if I can get one pic of another grave for someone and Carol, with the terrible smell of cigarette smoke emitting from her in the most thick of fashions I was afraid it was getting on me - began to tell me that some bad people take pictures of graves so they can steal the persons identity. Well OKAY then, talk about not knowing what is going on in the WORLD. You cannot steal a dead person's identity, unless you want to take on being a dead person, their social security number becomes public info - I know this because I built my family tree on Ancestry. They give you their numbers, you cannot steal the identity of a dead person, what has this world come to. Here I am trying to be nice only to come people who don't believe in it. Follow the lead of Palm Mortuary, which is next door to your location, and befriend us. I can go into Palm with a list of 20 graves I am looking for and they will help me, tell me where to find the graves and even walk with me and assist me if I can't find one or more. In this dark, ugly, world we live in - be some sunshine. I hope this note gets into the hand of someone who runs this place and they change their ways and educate their staff. ----------------------------------------their reply to my online form is below, then my answer------------ Glenn.Abercrombie@Dignitymemorial.com writes: Good Morning Ms. Brola, Thank you for reaching out to me. As you can imagine, this is a sensitive business and we make every effort to ensure respect for our client families and their loved ones. Given the popularity of genealogical sites today, Palm Eastern and King David has previously decided that we will not prohibit photographs of markers being taken, but instead will ask that a family that owns the marker or monument be given the respect of being made aware of a request to photograph their loved one's resting place and be provided an opportunity to voice any objection they might have to such a request. While we have no reason to doubt the good intentions of many in taking these photographs, we cannot rule out the possibility that someone could use the photographs taken from a cemetery in a manner that our families might find objectionable. Just as we must respect and consider your view point, we must also look at the other possible results from allowing unauthorized photography of family property. We still believe contacting the family and obtaining their approval is the most appropriate way to proceed; however, we understand your viewpoint and concerns as well. While we have decided not to prohibit photographs of grave markers, we strongly suggest that you contact the family that owns the property you are publishing and inform them of your intentions. I have met with the entire staff this morning and reviewed in depth how to handle future inquiries. If I can be of any further assistance please let me know. Regards, Glenn A. Abercrombie General Manager ---------------------------------------- Thank you so much Glenn for being so professional and addressing this issue. I certainly hope that it doesn't discourage anyone from going to your place and getting photos for families, because I already broke five hearts by telling them Carol told me no. And I don't see myself going back to your place thanks to that. I can promise you that I would never find time to browse around a cemetery and take pictures of graves to hurt anyone, which I still do not understand what I could possibly do with a grave picture that could hurt someone. Someone in California was so kind to take a picture of my Mom's grave for me and I still can't get over how good it made me feel and how grateful I was to the volunteer. Thanks again. If/when I see requests for your place I will have them call you. Have a great day, Colleen read more

This may not be an unbiased review because I am the manager for King David Memorial Chapel. But this forum gives me the opportunity to publicly tell the world first-hand how wonderful and truly exceptional Dignity Memorial, Sugarman-Sinai Chapel of Providence RI, King David Chapel of Las Vegas, and the family of Palm Mortuaries of Las Vegas have been to our family. The amount of love and compassion we have received from everyone involved from the moment we were notified of Jeremy's death, his transport from Rhode Island to Las Vegas, and his funeral service and final burial in Las Vegas has been nothing short of remarkable. handled my mom's funeral flawlessly, The whole staff was very comforting and friendly.

The score is a ZERO!!!!!!!! Not even one star; however, I was unable to post without making a selection. To anyone who is considering using King David Memorial Chapel think twice. My mother passed away on 3/17/2014 in Henderson, Nevada. Her body was to be shipped to New Jersey where she had pre-arranged her funeral decades ago. I have been a nurse since 1985 and when patients expired the hospital would use the mortuary on call when a family did not know who to go with. In my deepest despair and sorrow, all I could remember was Palm Mortuary; therefore, I placed a call to them requesting that King David handle the transport and forward her remains to the funeral home in New Jersey. Two very professional young gentlemen, employees of Palm/King David came to my home to remove my mother. They were kind and respectful and gave me instructions to call King David on 3/18 if I did not receive a call from a staff member. I asked about burial clothing and was encouraged to ask about that when I spoke with a representative from King David. On 3/18/2014 when I was not contacted by King David I contacted them. I was told that they did not know who my mother was and that she did not appear in their system. After being placed on hold multiple times I was told that the Manager of King David, Jay Poster was aware of my mother and had been handling her affair. I was transferred to Jay Poster. I identified myself as the daughter of my deceased mother and I was greeted with, "I don't know why you are calling me. You need to be in touch with the mortuary in new Jersey". He was extremely rude. There was no, "Hello, my name is Jay Poster and I am so sorry for your loss. How may I help you?" I was appalled. I just lost my mother and this is how a funeral manager talks to me!!! I then stated that two very professional men came and picked up my my mother and instructed me to call King David if I did not receive a call from them. I told him that I was following their instructions. I asked him what should I do with her burial clothes which Mr. Poster responded, "You need to talk to the receiving funeral home". There was no compassion. He was abrupt and rude. The next day I presented my mother's burial clothes to the receptionist at King David and once again I was told she had no knowledge of my mother. I explained that Mr. Poster was handling the matter. The receptionist went into Mr. Poster's office and I overheard him say in an extremely condescending manner, "Who?" and the receptionist repeated herself. The next moment Mr. Poster came out of his office and said to me, "there obviously is a communication issue" and I cut him off and told him that he was rude now and was rude yesterday when I had spoken to him and I also had a few choice words for him. People like this have no business in the funeral industry. Everyone has bad days, but in this industry there is absolutely no room for a bad day. Mr. Poster obviously had two bad days. How would you like to be treated in a manner described after you lose a loved one? Need I say anymore? Do not give them another thought when having to deal with such a difficult time. Additionally, King David never quoted me any rates and after researching rates for transfer of remains, professional fees, public transportation, refrigeration and taxes I determined that I was overcharged by approximately $2000. Shame on Palm Mortuary/King David for raping those of us who are so grief stricken over our loss. Please do not be at the mercy of the funeral industry and NEVER use Palm or King David. read more
