It was a beautiful evening at our Palm Mortuary, King David facility, where we met for International and Nevada State Holocaust Remembrance Day. We remembered the evil and celebrated those still living and their children's children. I'm proud to be part of an organization like Palm Mortuary. We have the only Jewish Cemetery in Southern Nevada and the only Holocaust Memorial in the State. I realize this is New, not the Old Testament. My father passed away and there were no funeral plans in place. But the one thing that stands out in my mind was the assistance, cooperativeness, kindness, and caring your staff provided to me and to the Bacher family when I conducted AlanBacher's funeral earlier this month. My mother passed on a Saturday in Las Vegas and needed to be transported to New York for her burial. This was a challenging set of circumstances in light of the fact that this occurred during the sabbath, and tradition and my family wanted her buried as soon as possible. Even though my father was not Jewish, I only wanted someone I could trust to handle my father's funeral arrangements. I volunteer for Find-a-Grave. It's people from other parts of the world seeking a photograph of their relatives final resting place. This cemetery is the most unfriendly, and rude cemeteries I have been to in our Clark County area, the absolute worst. They are not fans of us coming to take just ONE picture of ONE grave that someone from back east that is asking us for a huge favor. I do not get paid, I am trying to do something nice for someone I never met, and will never meet. Just give them some peace to see their loved ones name :( but the push back from this place. I have gone here on two occasions. The first time I came across a man that said "well okay I will tell you where ONE is! But that's it!" and I had a list of five I was looking for :( he took me to the grave and I was able to make someone in PA smile. The rest, oh well. So here I come back, to see if I can get one pic of another grave for someone and Carol, with the terrible smell of cigarette smoke emitting from her in the most thick of fashions I was afraid it was getting on me - began to tell me that some bad people take pictures of graves so they can steal the persons identity. Well OKAY then, talk about not knowing what is going on in the WORLD. You cannot steal a dead person's identity, unless you want to take on being a dead person, their social security number becomes public info - I know this because I built my family tree on Ancestry. They give you their numbers, you cannot steal the identity of a dead person, what has this world come to. Here I am trying to be nice only to come people who don't believe in it. Follow the lead of Palm Mortuary, which is next door to your location, and befriend us. I can go into Palm with a list of 20 graves I am looking for and they will help me, tell me where to find the graves and even walk with me and assist me if I can't find one or more. In this dark, ugly, world we live in - be some sunshine. My grandfather and grandmother are both buried here. The place is in the same place as palm mortuary but the back section is King David's and it's only for Jewish people. The grounds are beautifully maintained there is even a small pond in the middle by the mausoleums where my grandma happens to be and it's just really beautiful. read more

The score is a ZERO!!!!!!!! Not even one star; however, I was unable to post without making a selection. To anyone who is considering using King David Memorial Chapel think twice. My mother passed away on 3/17/2014 in Henderson, Nevada. Her body was to be shipped to New Jersey where she had pre-arranged her funeral decades ago. I have been a nurse since 1985 and when patients expired the hospital would use the mortuary on call when a family did not know who to go with. In my deepest despair and sorrow, all I could remember was Palm Mortuary; therefore, I placed a call to them requesting that King David handle the transport and forward her remains to the funeral home in New Jersey. Two very professional young gentlemen, employees of Palm/King David came to my home to remove my mother. They were kind and respectful and gave me instructions to call King David on 3/18 if I did not receive a call from a staff member. I asked about burial clothing and was encouraged to ask about that when I spoke with a representative from King David. On 3/18/2014 when I was not contacted by King David I contacted them. I was told that they did not know who my mother was and that she did not appear in their system. After being placed on hold multiple times I was told that the Manager of King David, Jay Poster was aware of my mother and had been handling her affair. I was transferred to Jay Poster. I identified myself as the daughter of my deceased mother and I was greeted with, "I don't know why you are calling me. You need to be in touch with the mortuary in new Jersey". He was extremely rude. There was no, "Hello, my name is Jay Poster and I am so sorry for your loss. How may I help you?" I was appalled. I just lost my mother and this is how a funeral manager talks to me!!! I then stated that two very professional men came and picked up my my mother and instructed me to call King David if I did not receive a call from them. I told him that I was following their instructions. I asked him what should I do with her burial clothes which Mr. Poster responded, "You need to talk to the receiving funeral home". There was no compassion. He was abrupt and rude. The next day I presented my mother's burial clothes to the receptionist at King David and once again I was told she had no knowledge of my mother. I explained that Mr. Poster was handling the matter. The receptionist went into Mr. Poster's office and I overheard him say in an extremely condescending manner, "Who?" and the receptionist repeated herself. The next moment Mr. Poster came out of his office and said to me, "there obviously is a communication issue" and I cut him off and told him that he was rude now and was rude yesterday when I had spoken to him and I also had a few choice words for him. People like this have no business in the funeral industry. Everyone has bad days, but in this industry there is absolutely no room for a bad day. Mr. Poster obviously had two bad days. How would you like to be treated in a manner described after you lose a loved one? Need I say anymore? Do not give them another thought when having to deal with such a difficult time. Additionally, King David never quoted me any rates and after researching rates for transfer of remains, professional fees, public transportation, refrigeration and taxes I determined that I was overcharged by approximately $2000. Shame on Palm Mortuary/King David for raping those of us who are so grief stricken over our loss. Please do not be at the mercy of the funeral industry and NEVER use Palm or King David. read more
