    Chicken kebab sandwich
    Steven L.

3.5 STARS Walking past this place on Hillside Ave and I got hungry. Sign in the window for a Chicken Sandwich only $3. OK I shall brave it and try some mystery meat, aka chicken. The place was empty when I walked in, so I got a bit nervous ordering from this place and with a grade pending in the window, yea I'm asking for a battle with the toliet later on... Ordered one portion of the chicken sandwich, and they took it from the fridge in display and placed it in the microwave to heat up. WTF? Microwave? Ok I'm really nervous about going to the toliet later on. When it was done, they dressed the chicken kebab with onions, lettuce and everything was wrapped in a fresh warm naan bread. When I walked out the door, I took a bite and I must say it wasn't too bad. It needed a little sauce because it was a bit on the dry side. But the chicken kebab was well seasoned and pretty well cooked...even though it was just premade and warmed in the microwave. Will try again next time, but ask for extra sauce. There are other dishes and platters that are worth trying. I shall brave my stomach another day..

Even though meat centric, you can get vegetarian lunch special for $6.99 with tax. I got okra and mixed vegetables, rice and nan. Nice warm nan seems superflous with rice, but it comes with it, and it is quite good. Like all the places in this strip of Hillside Avenue Bangaladesh restaurants, they use microwaves to heat up warm food you choose from the display case. Like all the places, the food was spicy! I love it. Servers are polite but don't speak English much. Gestures get the job done.

Bengali/ Bangladeshi food is delish. Not unlike Indian, there are many similarities and differences. We split the chicken biryani with stewed goat and a curried potato small fish dish. So hearty and full of flavor. The fish was a first and definitely not last. It was delicate but rich. The potato bits were almost creamy and fall apart as were the teeny fish with the last bit of chew left. It was mixed with fresh cilantro and just the perfect bit of spiciness.

    Place/restaurant.

The food here is so tasty, it's really really good, BUT the customer service is TRASH. They do not answer their phone at all and the lady in the front doesn't speak a lot of english to answer questions properly, i understand some things but not its not clear enough... I called them over 5 times and they didn't answer as i was trying to place an order on uber eats but their menu and how to order specific items was very confusing. Sucks to write this but before you attempt to order online please read this bc you will NOT get in touch with the restaurant at all if you need to.

    Goat and Lentil with Naan.

I was in town for Habitat For Humanity's Carter Work Project and were staying at the Ramada Inn down the road. Our friend who had come into town a week earlier had scoped out the local eateries and had told us King Kabab was good. We stopped in for some chow after a hard day of building houses. I'll have to say it was actually quite good. I was pretty hungry so the portion that I got wasn't enough for me. I needed more rice or naan or something as I ate a good portion of my friend's meal as well. The goat and lentil curry was rather thin, but it was tasty. I would have liked something a little thicker that would have held better on the naan or the rice. Their food is kept in trays on display. When you order it, they put it in a bowl and then put it in the micronuke to warm it. It's not ideal but it does the job. I'd come back if I were ever in the area. I'm guessing that's not very likely, however.

DISGUSTING! We found a bug in our food.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE GOING HERE! Today me and my friend went out for lunch at King Kabab. I've been there before and I didn't have too many complaints. Today we went and as we were eating, my friend found a dead insect (seemed like a roach) in the food. We called the waiter and all that we were told was, it was their mistake and they are sorry. All they said was sorry, they didn't deduct a single penny from our bill either. While we were leaving, we peaked into the kitchen, which seemed a bit dirty to us. Overall. DISGUSTING. Please, I encourage people not to visit here.

    Threw away the rest.

The Iftaar (break-fast) I have ever tried. They use flour to substitute lentils and other beans to save money. Disgusting raw kebab to say the least. Never trying it again. See the pic for details.

They have a wide selection of dishes. The food is pretty good too. The only complaint I have is that they make it really spicy.

But I was expecting more given the depiction of the dish on UberEats. The Chana Masala, Palak Aloo, and Kerahi Shrimp entrees came DRENCHED in what seemed like a gallon of oil, occupying 1/3 of the container which left the contents dripping, even after we poured out the liquid, rendering them inedible. Photo attached for reference. The samosas were good, and reminded us of the samosas that Mehak in Kew Gardens used to make. The naan was large and good, and the mango lassi was also refreshing. But the bulk of the dinner (the entrees) were quite underwhelming and left much to be desired, especially given what we paid for it. Perhaps when dining in-house they do a better job of draining the oil from the dishes, but they certainly don't fare well in transit.

Shirazi Karahi is a spot located in my old neighborhood and I've been meaning to try out their karahi dishes. I somehow managed to make my way here and luckily we got immediately seated with no wait time. The place was almost at full capacity. The dining experience has an elevated diner appeal with booths for families to sit in and some level of privacy. Their Karahi dishes are excellent with their house made rotis or biryani or both if you're down for the carb overload ! ... but next to Karahi dishes (they serve the food in an actual Karahi for that homely feel) their sizzling dishes are just as attractive...don't worry, once you get seated and waiting to give your order, you will see (and smell) the dishes coming out! It's a seated dining experience with an attentive staff, great service and the karahis/ sizzling dishes were on point This is the spot that's great for families, groups of friends , cousins, significant other(s) , spouses, side baes, or main baes.

I immediately knew I had to go check this spot out. I've never had pani puri before and I've always wondered what it tasted like since it's such a popular street food in India. So I went recently and got their six pieces of pani puri which came out to be around $7. I also wanted to get their vegetable samosa but since I went early during the day, they were still frozen. Once I got my food, I went to a nearby park to try the pani puri. It came with a spicy, tangy water too which I used to pour a little into the puri. The first bite was like an explosion of flavors in my mouth, there was sweet, spicy, sour, and hints of aromatic notes. It was quite delicious. Now, it wasn't mind-blowing or anything. I actually thought it tasted like something I've had before. Or I don't know, maybe it's because I eat hummus and chickpeas pretty often so that's probably why I didn't think the pani puri tasted like anything new to me. I also did not know that pani puri is supposed to be eaten cold/room temperature, I was surprised because for some reason, I thought it was supposed to be served warm. But aside from that, I still enjoyed the meal and appreciate that it wasn't extremely spicy.

Service was friendly and quick. The food was definitely tasty but at time lacked a bit of flavor. Maybe I would've liked to see a bit more seasoning. And I could be wrong in saying this, so please fact check me for yourself, but the pita doesn't seem homemade. Overall, however, an enjoyable spot that I would like to return to.

We ordered Gol Gappay, lamb biryani, Gosht Karahi, and a naan. The Gol Gappay was interesting. Crispy shells filled with chickpeas and potato, with a tangy, salty, savory flavor. Adding a little yogurt balanced it out nicely. Definitely something different. The lamb biryani was around the low teens price-wise and came in a huge portion with plenty of meat. The lamb was slightly dry -- felt like it may have been prepared earlier and kept warm -- but still flavorful and within expectations for the price. The standout for us was the Gosht Karahi. Tender but slightly chewy lamb, very savory and well seasoned, with lots of large chunks of meat. It looks a bit pricey at first, but considering how much meat you actually get, it felt like a solid value. We packed up half of it and still thought the leftovers were more generous than some restaurants' fresh servings. The naan was massive. Good flavor, although it didn't have that super fresh-out-of-the-tandoor smoky char. Funny enough, reheating it in the air fryer at home made it even better. One thing to know: every dish here runs large, so this place is better with a group. There are parking spots in front, but not many.

It's unfortunate that I have to post this as I feel despite us voicing our concern (multiple times) in person with the staff and also on the phone when ordering take out, the staff is not trained and do not take certain dietary restrictions seriously such as food allergies. After having a child who suffers from peanut and egg allergies, whenever we have dined or ordered from here as of lately, we have politely asked for certain food not to be served together and prepared properly. After expressing this, the staffs answer is rude and with an attitude and us being told "ok i'll just put it in a separate plate" after it being cross contaminated and served. Then during a take out order when we called to alert that there is an allergy, to please ensure the food is properly handled and packed separately from egg-containing items, we were told (specifically by Jaspreet) it is already prepared and packed, so the best that can be done is taken out and packed separately instead of adhering to the urgency of the matter and re-preparing the food. Our child broke out in hives due to their negligence in the past and I fear that their inefficiency to understand the seriousness of this matter will one day result in legal action being taken against this establishment if God forbid someone else has a reaction or worse a Fatality. My post isn't intended towards the quality of the food, it is more so to be heard and create awareness on this matter as it seems this establishment can care less towards your health needs. Update: We were contacted by ownership (Ishrath) and accused of being in the wrong and were met with disrespect and advised not to come to this establishment anymore as they cannot meet our "crazy demands." We should have been heard out, which was explained to co-ownership (Sobia) a few minutes after my review was posted, that this wasn't a personal jab towards the establishment however has happened to us on multiple accounts, specifically from staff member Jaspreet the past two times in a matter of two weeks. There was no apology on the matter, just defensiveness in a "sweet tone." This is more so a validation that despite us voicing our concerns multiple times in person, it has fallen on deaf ears and it is unfortunate that we have had to go to such extremes as posting this to be heard. Since my post, we see the attempt to have our post buried, and quite frankly hope it made a difference, albeit they have lost our business however we know the restaurant will still thrive. Still wishing them the best of luck and hopefully prevents any future consequence on this matter.
