I often eat shingara, samosa, chicken patties, and piyaju from this restaurant. My family and I love eating them, and we've never had any complaints for the taste or quality. We did receive rotten sauce one time, but never again. During Ramadan, I was really craving an Iftar box meal. My dad bought me one from this place, and it came with biryani, fritters, and fruits. I was honestly scared to try the biryani because I usually dislike the ones outside because they smell, have too much oil, or just straight up taste bad. But honestly, the biryani was so good... I was really surprised, and definitely proven wrong. I would get it again! I did find one of the fritters in the Iftar box to be mid, but I cannot remember which one as it isn't something I have ordered often. My main reasons for giving this restaurant 4 stars is because I agree with one of the other reviews that mention the ambiance not being so good. I don't think this is somewhere you could sit down and have a meal in quiet without getting overstimulated as it is next to the train station on Diversity Plaza, where a lot of people just hang out. This is one of the to-go places where people often get tea or snacks from, so you'll see people going in and out A LOT. As for service, I'm not sure what to say because it's always been my dad who ordered and dealt with the staff, so I can't say much. But he usually tells us if any restaurant staff makes him mad, so as far as I recall, he never complained about the service. Also, I have never tried the main course food items, such as pulao and roast. So I cannot comment on how those taste, but reading the other views, it seems they weren't too good. And I'm seeing that people had complaints about cleanliness of the restaurant and how there is a lack of proper plumbing systems. I guess I never noticed this because I never actually sat in the restaurant.. Maybe I should eat from here less often?

This review is only about the mango lassi since that was the only thing I got. The mango lassi here is a must try -- I would drink 2 of these in one sitting if I could. There is also plenty of other food that looks delicious too. It seems this spot is popular among the locals living in the area.

Mango lassi is so good, mango & yogurt perfectly balanced. Service can be much better. Server was kinda rude.

During a conference in the heart in NYC, I jumped on the trustworthy subway to Jackson Heights solo. I came here a year ago with colleagues and my best friends so I was determined to eat Bengali food again. I searched for cuisine like this on in the SF Bay Area and not much comes close. I felt so welcomed here despite being an absolute tourist speaking my extremely limited bangla to order, lol. Another thing, is that I felt so safe by myself in Jackson Heights and at this restaurant. I didn't remember the names of the exact items but I remembered what it looked like and omg I was so happy to see what I've been craving for a year was there! Ambiance is busy but it is cozy and safe at the same time.

So for Ramadan they have a special deal & it's amazing . Can't get better than this . With the plate they even have free juice . It was so much food I can't even finish it . Everything was great. Customer service was excellent

    Assorted of fried finger foods

Best thing about this location is that it's literally right by the 7 train at the 74th Street Broadway stop. I didn't know about it until my friend N has brought me here to grab a quick bite and hop back on the train to be on our way. I see how busy it can get because of the convenience of the train being right next to the eatery. As for the service wise, don't get too offended if you don't get greeted by the staff. They're too busy anyway to greet anyone as there're always crowds of people lining up to pay and buy their food. I believe they accept both credit/debit card and/or cash. So, of course it can get a little hectic and rowdy. Additionally, there're always people trying to pass through in the narrowness of the pathway. Not much of an ambiance to say the least except that it's similar to a hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop kind of place. Now, just because the place isn't fancy doesn't mean you shouldn't stop by and check it out. Sometimes, these hole-in-the-wall eateries are actually the best places for food. Love their pulao aka butter rice (plain basmati rice cooked with coconut milk and herbs) - small one for $2-3. Tastes way better than the rice you cook at home because of its aroma when you first open the lid of the container. Good to eat on its own or if you have a little curry to mix it with. The rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked, with a subtle hint of spices. Flavors were well-balanced and aromatic, making it a satisfying and comforting meal even if you're just eating the rice alone especially on a cold day in the winter....it's great to get something hot in your system. Fried Vegetable Rolls: Blown away by these simple-looking fried finger foods but packed with variety of flavors. The rolls were filled with a delightful mix of crunchy vegetables, then fried to a golden crispy perfection. The outside was satisfyingly crunchy, while the inside remained fresh and flavorful. A definite must-try for anyone looking for a tasty and satisfying veggie option! Vegetable Samosas: Wow! The fried vegetable samosas have exceeded my expectations! Crispy, flavorful, and packed with a delightful mix of spiced veggies like diced potatoes. Each bite was a perfect balance of textures and flavors. These samosas stole the show - a must-order for anyone visiting Ittadi Garden and Grill! Will definitely go back to try its tandoori chicken legs, goat curry and definitely the jalebi - a very popular Bangladeshi type of sweet made out of deep-frying maida flour (plain flour or all-purpose flour) batter in pretzel or circular shapes. They're then soaked in sugar syrup afterwards. I'm impressed of how delicious everything looks through the glass display window. Jalebis are small, bright yellow, web-shaped cakes similar to funnel cakes. They are popular celebration and street cakes mainly in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan. My friend said they taste good on their own or with a glass of warm milk. * Super Affordable, Budget-Friendly wise * Literally right by the Subway * Everything looks so scrumptious! * Popular eatery with locals in the neighborhood. * Opens late, so pop in if you're ever in the area.

I had so much hope for this place... it was busy, they do a lot of different dishes and turnover so you know it's fresh. Don't be intimidated by the long lines just go and they will serve you quickly. Anything you want you can just point to it. I saw them refill trays of items so I decided to try a few different simple snacks to see if it would be tasty. Unfortunately everything was either lacking in seasoning or super greasy. The pakoras just tasted like oil. The chicken was the best thing in terms of texture but it barely had any flavor either. The chicken puff did not have any spice profile to it. I may go back to them to try other things from the buffet but their snack profile so far is pretty disappointing.

item no.4 'Sholl fish' was missing
    Kazi L.

They took the price of the food but did not give the items. Couple of days later when I wanted to speak to the manager/server Khokon, he was busy, but a girl named Faria picked up the phone and misbehaved with me. When I asked for her name, he hung up. I then called again and another woman named Veronica picked up the phone. She was very defensive about Faria's behavior. This happened before. This restaurant charges extra when eating in or taking out. But if customers want clarification, they all get defensive. Worst service ever. Please check your bills or food items before you leave the restaurant.

One of the best Bengali food that I'ever had. We came here with my Bengali friends and most of the dishes we got were pretty good. My ultimate favorite is the tehari or beef biryani. We also got the kachchi biryani but it was alright. The rice was pretty mushy and the flavors were okay. We also got beef liver and stomach, very tasty but too much oil in my opinions. Portha was amazing as well. We got this little fish fried and it went amazingly well with plain rice.

First class, authentic Bangladeshi ambiance, cuisine, and service. Cannot wait to visit again.

    Monte A.

Pretty good food. It's buffet style, you choose and they bring it to you. I had mystery fish curry with potatoes and cauliflower. Rice is extra, but it came with a small simple salad and a bowl of dal. Flavors were straightforward, tasty seems very clean. The chai is good too. I'll return and try more things from the huge buffet.

Kabab paratha roll with hair in it.
    Dayna C.

Disgusting and unclean. Hair in my kabab. Not just one hair but two long hair!! Spent over $28 here and had to throw it all away!! Called manager to complain he said he didn't care. Refused to give his name. Very rude. Go here if you want to get sick and consume human pubes. Department of health and hygiene needs to close this place down!!

Every time I am in New York, I visit Ittadi's in Jackson Heights and bring chicken biryani, sweet chili chicken, chicken samosas, and Chicken Vegetable Pasta back to Texas. I also run to the grocery store and grab boxes of the La Palma Dates. I have purchased the La Palma Dates from Ittadi's for the last three Ramadans and used them every day for breakfast. To my disappointment, I only found out a couple of days ago that La Palma dates are a product of Israel. Although I have looked through the box, not in any single place, does it mention that it is a product of Israel and grown in the occupied territories? I want to ask the management and owners of Ittadies to stop selling La Palma Dates and any other products from Israel to show solidarity and support for our Palestinian brothers.

Ask the Community - Ittadi Garden & Grill

Just a suggestion, please do not add peanuts to your vegetable samosas. It does not taste good and also people can be allergic to nuts?!

Thank you for your suggestion but unfortunately that's one of the typical ingredient of a samosa. Which sadly but have to kindly turn down your suggestion. Also majority plays a role in it. Again my apologies.

Anyone know if they source their meat from a zabihah hand slaughtered meat supplier? Gotta ask now that I'm aware now of how mechanical slaughter is more predominant :/

Alhamdulillah, they do get their meat supply from zabihah halal slaughter house and poultry farms.

Do they accept cards here or is it just cash?

They accept credit cards. Not sure if Amex is accepted but I paid with a credit card

We happened to be dining there during a World Cup game so there was a TV on in the back (not sure if that's their usual setup). I ordered the chicken tandoori (bone-in), my SO got the chicken tikka masala, and we shared a garlic naan. I got a masala chai to drink and my SO just stuck to water. We did not have to wait too long for the food. My chicken tandoori came out on a sizzling plate with a side of rice. The chicken was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. I ate the slices of onion on the sizzling plate with the chicken and rice. The garlic naan was nice and hot, crisp on the outside, studded with plenty of garlic, and soft and chewy on the inside. It was good for sopping up the chicken tikka masala sauce. My SO felt that my bone-in chicken tasted better than the chicken that came with the tikka masala, so he would consider ordering one of the other bone-in options next time (butter chicken (bone-in) or chef's special chicken (bone-in) biryani). Service was attentive. The servers refilled our water several times and checked on how we liked our dishes. Taking over for another desi-owned spot (#1) several years ago, they've done a much better job of capturing an audience by focusing on a niche of Goan inspired foods, along with a slew of classic Indian dishes that span from north to south. The interior is modest and quaint, and a one bright / memorable outdoor setup during the pandemic. The restaurant is not big, but they've managed to cram in a good number of tables to make it place for 30 folks. Takeout and delivery are also very popular, and I've been fortunate to have had all of the above. Some immediate standouts: goan fish curry, xacuti curry, and the caldeen curry are quite excellent and all come from the Indo-Portuguese side of the menu, which are all loaded with flavor. Additionally, the tandoori selection (especially the chicken malai, seekh kebab, and methi salmon) and variety of curries (rogan josh, korma, jalfrezi, makhani, etc.) are also very flavorful. As with many other Indian places, especially ones that cater to the southern palate, there is an excellent vegetarian selection. The saag chana is one of my go-tos, but the peeli dal, bhindi masala, gobi manchurian over their lemon or tomato rice all merit a big thumbs up. Ownership has likely changed since their initial start, which explains why the staff and "family owned" management has all gotten different looks before and after the pandemic. The other major issue has been pricing, which definitely feels premium at $21-23, for portions that sometimes feels like the size of a hockey puck. The product is still good and the pickins in Sunnyside (#2) are slim, so I realize that for some people, this is the only (Indian) game in town. ___________ (#1) Biriyani House: https://www.yelp.com/biz/biriyani-house-sunnyside (#2) Unless of course, we're counting all the Nepalese spots that also serve Indian cuisine.

The first time that I came here was about 3 years ago with a few friends and we liked the food - the beef tongue was different and super memorable and the jhol momos were just swimming in flavorful curry. Made me want to come back again. Fast-forward three years later, I feel like things have changed significantly. Or maybe I didn't catch them at their best, but I came with another group of friends and I just felt overall disappointed with the food, as did my friends who were excited to try Himalayan food for the first time. I had the goat dhat bhat and the small amount of meat served in aesthetically pleasing bowls to mask the portion was disappointing--and this was not a lunch special or anything. I mainly got a big bone and realistically got about 2-3 small bites of actual meat, while there was an overwhelming amount of rice and veggies. The momos also tasted like they were pre-made and heated or steamed up again because the dough was definitely a little rough. Overall, this experience was a meh for me. I think it is a social staple for many Nepalese and Tibetans in the area, and just for that.
