Our first stop on broadway was to grab a bite to eat and we were both craving sushi so we came here. The sushi was so yummy and wow they have sooo many options on their menu that I didn't expect. Unfortunately within the last 2 years thing place has gone down hill. Went here with family and got 6 different sushi rolls and everything was fishy even the rolls with just crab in it. Besides that, charging 18% gratuity automatically on a party of 4 is a little crazy. Won't be back any time soon. read more

While on vacation, our son found this place so we drove to check it out. We were able to be seated quickly which was very nice given the late time of the day we came. The server was nice, but did provide enough detail and when the food arrived, it was okay. Our son had some problems with the food as the order did not come out correctly and they had to bring out some different rice. Beware that they will add gratuity automatically for parties of 6 or more. I do not prefer this and "IF" I saw the sign, I would have chosen not to stay. Automatic Gratuity is a sign that THEY decide that your service was good. Rule of thumb for me... if gratuity is required for X or more in a party, I will take my business elsewhere. Because you provide a sub par service, doesn't mean you earned it. Recommend? Only if it is the only place left open. read more

The service was a little awkward in this place, there was a weird energy and our waitress seemed to be angry. Came on a Sunday afternoon in October when Myrtle Beach has considerably less tourists so there was no wait, and hardly anybody in the establishment. Server was attentive and great. With tons of options, there is something for the whole family to enjoy. King Kong Sushi is located at the busy Broadway at the Beach venue but there was no wait for us to grab a table. The server was great and gave personal recommendations for menu items. The ambiance is a little odd but eclectic nonetheless. We ordered the bulgogi sushi roll and the volcano roll which were both delicious. The volcano roll comes to the table on fire to help slightly cook the roll which made for a unique experience. We opted to sit outside and got a great view of the water and Wonder Works. We started out with the edamame and wings - both super delicious. The wings were very flavorful with a tasty sauce on it. For my meal, I got the tuna poke bowl. They let you choose a few different toppings, which were all super fresh and tasted great. Highly recommend for sushi. It was so fresh and delicious. You have to get the volcano roll that they light on fire. It makes a nice smoky flavor that is incredible. We had the absolute pleasure of having Harliegh as a server. She was so kind and friendly. We had an ice chat about different sauces and food in general. Like talking to a friend that also loves food as much as my husband and myself do. Their prices were great. For being in a touristy part of town this was incredible. She was a lovely server. There was someone celebrating their 21st birthday. From the enthusiasm of the staff I believe it was one of their own celebrating his birthday. It reminding me of my days waiting tables and how those people are your family. LOVED the food, the camaraderie, and friendly staff. We'd come back again if we were staying longer. Visited King Kong Sushi last night while at Broadway at the beach. The staff was friendly and the service was good. The food on the other was a hit or miss. The shrimp tempura was probably the best thing we had there. The vegetable and shrimp was fried perfectly in a light and thin Japanese batter. The baked mussels was pretty good as my wife enjoyed it and said it was well prepared. I couldn't say the same for the beef negamaki. As something was really off with this dish. It was very heavy and oily and had an odd sour taste. Also my steak hibachi was very dry and oily. The fried rice also had the same theme. My wife chirashi bowl she enjoyed except the tuna. The tuna seem like it was just recently thawed out. Half of the sashimi slice was frozen. Also when we got the final bill it had a service charge that was already included in the check m. Which was very odd since we had 2 adults and 2 children. Im usually tip pretty well so it didn't really bother me but for others that tip based on service they may not want this. The food and service was great. We visited during off-peak season so service was super fast. I ordered a grapefruit spritzer, edamame app and a poké bowl (customized: sushi rice, avocado, cuke, ginger dressing, two shrimp). I could have just been very hunger, but everything was so fresh and delicious. My friend ordered sushi which I sampled, of course and it was pretty good as well. The dining area is very spacious and includes a bar seating area. My only gripe was that it was freezing cold in the restaurant! There is an 18% gratuity automatically added to all bills. This is my second time coming. The food is amazing. This time I had a Frosty roll. Last time the volcano roll. The host sat me immediately- and helped the server by getting my drink. Every time we visit Myrtle Beach we would always dine here. We've absolutely loved this place, but the past couple times has had us concerned, a year or so ago we went and hardly no one was in there and it was almost like a sewage odor, but we ate & all was fine, but recently we went for a family vacation again and had planned to give it another try, when we walked in. It was extremely strong sewage odor and my husband asked is that sewage? and the hostess said oh no, that's just the fish because of the sushi first of all we eat sushi on a regular basis so if that's how your fish smells, we don't wanna eat here. Second of all it was sewage smell. She told us we could just sit wherever you want, there was no one else in there and we just had a bad feeling and looked at each other and decided to leave.
