Every time we visit Myrtle Beach we would always dine here. We've absolutely loved this place, but the past couple times has had us concerned, a year or so ago we went and hardly no one was in there and it was almost like a sewage odor, but we ate & all was fine, but recently we went for a family vacation again and had planned to give it another try, when we walked in. It was extremely strong sewage odor and my husband asked is that sewage? and the hostess said oh no, that's just the fish because of the sushi first of all we eat sushi on a regular basis so if that's how your fish smells, we don't wanna eat here. Second of all it was sewage smell. She told us we could just sit wherever you want, there was no one else in there and we just had a bad feeling and looked at each other and decided to leave. There are a few options for lunch combinations. We chose the $13.99 combination which included a regular maki and a specialty maki along with a choice of seaweed salad or ginger salad, and a soup. We added on a King Kong roll for $16 as it was not an option for one of the specialty rolls. The t.n.t. Roll was a bit underwhelming with very little flavor and spice. The fish on the rocket roll was fresh but the roll itself lacked something to make it more robust. The roe that was supposed to be in the roll was hit or miss. I tasted it in some pieces but not all. The King Kong roll was tasty but nothing spectacular. A little disappointed in paying $16 for it. The sushi rice itself was not the best but it wasn't the worst either. The quality of the rice was a bit underwhelming and it was not seasoned quite enough. I appreciated the amount of rice that was used though. There was a nice balance of rice to ingredients. Overall, this is a 3.5 star review for value and service but the food itself really is just 3 stars. read more

This was the only place my husband was serious about going to. The wait was a little long, once we were seated, but there wasn't an empty seat in the house. We had seven in our party, which included three children. There isn't really a children's menu so we ordered them Kong Wings. We had two scorpion bowls, while the larger bowl of alcohol itself wasn't too strong, there's a shot of 180 proof in the center. It also comes out flaming so that was cute. I ordered rolls in addition to the pork belly but I honestly could've just had the pork belly, it was AMAZING. The crunchy crab salad roll, unfortunately, was a different story. They kept the doors open to help ventilate the place in the midst of the pandemic so there was a bit of a draft but we didn't mind. So this was hands down my favorite take-out sushi spot all summer in MB... I had never eaten at the establishment (Broadway at the Beach), just enjoyed a hot sake while waiting for our sushi orders. We just recently went and dined in... The sushi definitely left more than something to be desired. The salmon on the nigiri was dense, as in the piece of fish and not the rice. It also wasn't a thick piece that made the fish dense. It was just oddly hard textured. The Spicy Salmon and Spicy Tuna rolls were not chopped very well, both were stringy and lumpy. We had some other Rolls & Sushi that were just as lackluster. We felt like the sushi chef may have been having an off day or at the end of his day, because everything looked thrown together and the restaurant was pretty empty :-/ Gotta say food from the kitchen was solid! I have to say that I'll be coming back to check this place out again. Sugami has always been the standard that was set at Myrtle Beach from back when we tried it in 2004, but my wife had told me about a new sush place at Broadway at the Beach, and we had to try it. I'm definitely holding out one star to compare against since we had ordered some rolls that were not very usual considering the amount of choices. We did get the gyoza and harumachi appetizers which were done very well. The specialty rolls such as the lava roll were definitely eclectic and tasted wonderful, but never have had them elsewhere, it was tough to compare it against anything. The fish was definitely fresh considering the nigri white tuna roll we ordered so that did count for something. Probably going to wait to compare a catepillar/rainbow/dragon roll choice since those are usually everywhere. This is the the second King Kong Sushi location (the first being at Carolina Forest) so I'm curious whether the decor and atmosphere is the same. One of the reasons I think this location does well is because it isn't a typical Japanese sushi place. It is very much like a bar (drinking), and the music was mostly country rock. A little too loud for both my wife's and my tastes but we could see how it would be popular. They also had a huge assortment of drinks including Smirnoff Lemon Drops to Hanjin Fuji Apple. So it made most Southerners feel comfortable by bridging eastern foods with western atmosphere. In any case, we'll definitely be back to try another night. Personally, I found this sushi restaurant to be more classified as an Ameircan Sushi restaurant. I didn't really find much to be Japanese about it besides the sushi. However, I guess it's hard to find many authentic Japanese restaurants in Carolina, especially on Broadway. It was still nice, but I personally wouldn't care to go back so much. I liked that they accommodated my order for a fried philadelphia roll, which was made nicely. My mom ordered the inari sushi and tempura with shrimp. Also, some steak appetizer roll, which was delicious. We also ordered a Needham Roll, Caterpillar Roll, and a Sunset Roll. All of which were good. So, not that many complaints about the food, but service lacked when we were there since our waitress seemed to be more interested in talking to some guy at the bar rather than getting our order, taking our plates, and giving us the check at some points. I'd say if you live near the area, it might be worth checking it out since it seems like it's a popularly recommended sushi restaurant in the area. Eel- I didn't touch, look at, smell etc it was for my husband who says it was just OK- not the best he has ever had Cone head roll- one thing is we were charged more that is on the web site menu price so don't know what is up with that. But I spit it out after first bite. The descriptions says squid- i'm thinking octopus! the fried hard as grissle thing I bit into and had to spit out was a big thick tenticle- not like the fried tenticles you get in a calamari. and it was topped with the spicy aioli sauce that my spicy tuna was missing i stuck with the spicy tuna roll. i really wish I had more of the Gyoza! Cons: the drink prices are WAY to HIGH soda and iced tea $2.39! so for the price of 2 drinks we could have gotten another Gyoza plate!!!!! also anyone ordering the Hibachi or hot entrees is going to pay way too much. if was going to pay that much for Hibachi filet and shrimp I better get the show as well! and there are a few places very close by to Broadway for this that also sell sushi read more

Although they were very busy, we were seated in about 30 minutes, which is impressive for a Saturday night in Myrtle Beach. Our server Jenn made our experience more than amazing. It was pan fried, perfectly cooked, and the filling was the perfect amount of deliciousness. We both did the lunch special D, which gets you a maki roll, a specialty roll, a salad, and a soup. For the very reasonable price of 13.99. I chose the seaweed salad and miso soup. For my sushi, I chose the super crunch roll and a tuna maki roll.
