After my girlfriend's 1994 GMC Jimmy failed a smog test, I had to find somebody to put in a new catalytic converter. She was also unhappy about the noisy muffler that was put in her car about 3 years ago, so I wanted to get that replaced for her too. I called up King Muffler to get a quote on doing the job and was given a great price. The owner said that the work would take about 1/2 hour and that he could do it that same day. I decided to try King Muffler, though really I was more curious to see how a muffler shop could get a 5 star Yelp rating with so many reviews. Who does that??? Being an engineer I was really impressed with cleanliness of the shop and the well organized work stations, tools and inventory. It was also really easy to see why King Muffler is a 5 star operation: it's all about the owners and the way they treat their customers. The owner remembered talking to me about my girlfriend's Jimmy and immediately brought over the new parts he wanted to put in,proudly telling me all the details; everything was top quality and far superior to what they were taking out. Then he made sure my girlfriend and I were comfortably seated in the shop so that we could watch the entire surgery on the Jimmy. For me it was a fun experience watching a real professional efficiently remove the old parts and carefully fit and tweak the new ones into place, before the final awesome welding job. 30 minutes later the Jimmy was off the rack and the shop was spotless again. I was charged exactly what was quoted on the phone hours earlier (how does the owner remember?) and as soon as my girlfriend stepped on the gas to leave the shop we knew we had a winner! Gone was the awful buzzing and roar from the old muffler and she noticed that she hardly had to touch the gas to get the car going. Way to go King Muffler!! WOW. Found this place on Yelp, saw all the 5 star reviews and thought... "Hmmm it can't be this good." WELL IT IS. Actually It's GREAT! Came in with some resonated exhaust tips I bought from Pepboys and was greeted by Frank. I told him what I wanted and he agreed... except for the exhaust tips I brought in. He said too many customers bring in the same tips and come back after a day to complain about rattling. After reading reviews on the exhaust tips online, I understood exactly what Frank meant. WHAT A LIFESAVER! He gave me a price (much lower than other shops around the valley). I agreed. He put my car up, started working, 30 minutes of measuring and welding, and viola. He turned the engine over and came out the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. It was like a doctor handing the newborn to the parents. So you can say Frank is a doctor and a really good one at that. At the end of the credit card transaction they asked and really encouraged me to write a review for them on Yelp. With most businesses, I get frustrated when they do that but not with this one. They do an extremely wonderful job and are probably the best in LA. But they are located in a small shop on Oxnard St. which is a haven for all auto and mechanic shops so it's hard to spot them when cruising around looking for muffler shops. Years ago i bought an '86 bmw 535i (think it was around 2010?). During a time when i didn't keep notes, and was incredibly short on cash, my dad told me to go to these guys. They gave me some options, one of which being the cheapest option i've heard so far, so i took that because of the cash shortage. Sure enough it worked great and was a fraction of the price any where else. Moved away a few years later and sold the 5er, moved back recently and needed a car for work (and basically for everything else as we know in l.a.). Bought an '89 Toyota Mr2 that i thought would pass smog...it didn't. Smog inspection told me the worst and said it was a cat, something not in the budget. After not being in town for awhile i completely forgot about K.M., called all the typical places like pepboys, who quoted me $1500, and a few other places who gave me roughly the same prices, even a friend who said $1300! I Might want to rethink my acquaintances with him ; ) Anyways good ol' dad told me the same thing and sent me to King Muffler. Once again they helped me out when i thought i would have to sell beloved new car. They quoted me almost a fifth of what my "friend" said. i started up my 2002 Ford Mustang and it roared to life. In this case, not good. It sounded like the muffler was blown out. I called King Muffler after reading the reviews. A guy named Steve answered and told me to bring it on in, no appointment necessary. It was about 4PM and I was hoping they would have the parts (if necessary) on hand and get it done by COB so I wouldn't have to come back tomorrow. I showed up and they have 2 guys working in two stalls. Steve asked if I could wait it wouldn't be long. So I waited or about 10 minutes and then he took my car up on the hoist. He found the problem with his flashlight and called me over for a look. The pipe at the engine was cracked. I was thinking I needed a new manifold. He said no, he would weld another piece of pipe on it and it would be fine. He told me not to touch the pipe or muffler cause it was hot. Nice guy. Any way he quoted the price and thanked me for waiting. He said he had to wait for the muffler to cool first. So after another 15 minutes or so he got to work and got it done. Stay away!! Liars! Excuses! Broken muffler tips! Been going here and id say frank has been good and knows his stuff.i had all my exhaust and mufflers done by frank. My last visit i had installed a new system which had my muffler dual tips not being aligned and was hitting my bumper. So i came back to fix it. The older gentleman there took in my car in and basically put a long 2" pipe inside the tips to bend the muffler tips. While he was bending my dual tips i heard a crack sound... he paused a bit and He tried to play it off like nothing happen. I asked him why is there a big gap between my dual tips after i heard a crack. He replied that the tips was like that before, i wont be able to bend it like that and gave me a crappy excuse. I bought my carbin dual tips for $187 and i have pictures of them when i got it and it didnt have a lot of space between them. Harry is a total lifesaver. I was driving from Palm Desert when I went over a large bump and all of a sudden my car sounded like the engine was going to drop out. Took my ride to a Nissan dealership for a service and to asses the damage. They quoted me $1000.00 to replace my entire muffler and exhaust. Totally blindsided, I did some research and found King Muffler. Took my car in, and Harry said he could fix it for $180.00, because only one small part needed replacing, and not the whole system (unlike what Nissan told me). He walked me thru step by step, showed me what he was doing and what the issue was. Took only an hour, was super friendly and answered all of my stupid questions. Totally genuine and nice guy who just wants to do good, honest work. I'd give him more stars if I could. I've never had such a good experience at an Auto shop. Don't believe a word of the good reviews their friends wrote for them. I read these reviews and called them today for exhaust work; the old man said "come right over." I fought traffic and found the place empty when I got there. The old man was sitting alone behind a desk doing nothing but smoking. Some caveman in blue coveralls came over and I showed him what I wanted. In about 10 seconds (before I was even done explaining) he said " That's too much work" and walked away. I started to walk to the old man and he got up and started to walk away too. If you call them, expect to be told to "come right over" then get turned away if they don't feel like doing what you need to have done. No wonder their shop has no cars and they sit around smoking waiting for easy, big profit jobs! Hell has a place for these kind of people and they can't get there fast enough. read more

I am very careful when it comes to taking my cars somewhere to have work done. I've brought 3 cars here and left extremely happy with the work each time. Yesterday, I brought in a Camaro for a muffler delete and the work was excellent. The owner does a great job of reading the customer based on the types of questions they ask and he makes good recommendations based on this. He really cares that you are satisfied with the work 100%. I brought in a car yesterday for a muffler delete and as he aligned the exhaust pipes before the final weld, he asked if it looked good to me. What I like is that he wants your input on the work so that he knows you'll be happy with the final product. The work at King Muffler is first class, the service is great and the prices are very reasonable. I won't go anywhere else for exhaust system work. Highly recommend. read more

First off great place and customer service. I have a 2012 dodge charger and wanted to get a more beefier sound out of it. I had been researching for the longest on what exhaust set up I wanted. I decided flowmaster however I didn't want to pay around $400 for all parts and install. So I was driving and found this place. Before I got out I checked yelp and I was amazed at the ratings and reviews. So I spoked with the owner and told him what I wanted and he said that the could do it for way less than what I intended on paying which was already a plus. From there he have me a suggestion which was to just run straight pipes which would be even cheaper and if I didn't like it that he would place everything pack to stock n not charge me at all. Let me tell you I am more than please with the outcome and will be letting all my friends know as well. read more

I never yelped before but I just had to share my great experience I had with this professional shop! I have a modified '67 mustang that needed a custom exhaust system, after numerous calls and driving to multiple muffler shops I was getting very frustrated with the run around and ridiculous estimates I was getting, then I was referred to kings and read all the great reviews, so I drove my car and met with Harry. He was extremely nice and knowledgeable and within minutes I had the lowest estimate. The work exceeded my expectations and the job was done in less time then I expected even though it required some difficult installation of cut outs, X pipe and mufflers. I couldn't be happier and wish I had gone to them first and save myself the aggravation. I can't recommend this place and Harry enough. I give them six stars if I could! read more

Worse place to bring your car, i took my clients GTR to change out an exhaust, we come back a couple days later to pick up the OEM exhaust and the owner has the nerve to tell me i waited more then 3 days to pick it up so he junked it........ WTF is wrong with this guy. What kind of decent human being with a business does something like that. I know that piece of crap owner sold it and smiles about it like it's not a problem. The messed up thing about it is we take cars to King Muffler all the time to get work done on cars and he doesn't have the decency and respect to give us a courtesy call and let us know that he was junking (selling it for profit) the exhaust. I was visiting L.A. and discovered I had something loose in the exhaust of my older Mercedes-Benz, causing a nasty clunk when I went around corners. King Muffler is near where I was staying in L.A. and I saw its good reviews already posted on Yelp. I went in on a Saturday, and was finished in 15 minutes. They found and fixed a simple problem, a loose heat shield banging into the catalytic converter. All it took was a new bolt. No charge. When does that happen? They also showed I have a loose part inside the muffler contributing to the clunk noises. I'm bringing the car back for the muffler work when I'm back in L.A. at Christmas. I don't know what they are taking about. I have had multiple cars of mine worked on at King Muffler and I have never been unsatisfied with the work.
