They gave me a little tiny square Styrofoam container with small amount of veggies and 3 shrimp. Charged me $10.50.... The server here is horrible. She talked Chinese in front of me and laughed. Though I didn't understand what's it all about, it's just rude to be laughed at in front of.. Go to safeway China food instead. They serve more and has better attitude. Solid three stars. This place is huge! We came in and there were plenty of open tables (came on the early side). Excellent customer service and the food came out extremely fast! The salt and pepper halibut reminded me of fish sticks but an adult version, really good! The fried rice was ok. The chow fun was good but on the tad oily side. The soup base of the wonton soup was good. Wontons were on the small side and they didn't give much. The Mongolian beef was really good and I enjoyed the little kick. This place is very good. Plus its just down the street from where I live so it's convenient for when my family and I are craving some Chinese food. We've never dined in here because we would normally order for takeout so I can't really give my opinion on their customer service, but I could say that their food is of good quality and that it is kind of expensive. As for portion size, it's okay. Could they give more? Absolutely! But for me the quality of the food makes up for the lack of food portion size especially for how much you pay for. I'd still recommend this place though as the food is very good. read more

Went here for lunch today. The food was actually really good. I had the chicken wonton soup which was delicious. The chicken was tender and tasty. The sweet and sour chicken tasted great as well. They have the brown rice option along with the lunch combo which is really nice. Since it is pretty new, it is nicely done. The food is pretty cheap as well. I would given this 4 stars except that the waitress was not very nice. I was talking to her about what soup to get and when I asked about the beef stew soup, she went "NO, you won't like it". Good Chinese food. Not the best I've ever had bad it's convenient there pretty quick and like most Chinese restaurants the service is not too good. But if you need some orange chicken or sesame chicken they do a good job there's always room to sit down there never too crowded but I think a lot of people just order to go from there which is what I usually do. I'm on a quest to sample all the Chinese restaurants in the San Ramon/Danville area at least once. My standard first test dishes are (1) sweet and sour pork, and (2) fish fillet with black bean sauce. Both dishes were executed well. The fish was cooked well, seasoned, and still firm. Sauce was savory not overwhelmingly salty. The pork was a different style than I'm used to. It was fried pieces with onions and pineapples with the sauce on the side. When combined together, the dish was wonderful. The tangy, sticky sauce on the outside followed by the crispness of the pork. Would definitely come back to try other dishes. Prices are slightly higher than 3 Brothers, but quality is pretty good. They have a open kitchen which is kind of cool. read more

This place is alright nothing really extraordinary stood out to me on the menu. I was hoping there would be something different that set it apart from other Americanized Chinese food but there's just the typical broccoli beef and the walnut prawns and what not. I ordered the honey glazed walnut prawns with steamed rice. I've tried this dish at many places and I have to say King palace did this plate good. The prawns are huuuuge and not skimpy at all. They're crispy and coated in the glaze sauce which has a good creamy and sweet taste that isn't overpowering anything. The rice was a bit on the dry side but eaten with the prawn and walnut, it's a delicious bite. My two friends order the spicy garlic chicken with BBQ pork friend rice. I'm not sure how it tasted but they always get that dish and swear by it. My only complaint is that they gave us our check very early so it seemed like they were rushing us out of the door despite being one of three tables there. Oh well... King palace kind of reminds me of Panda Express but more high end and cheaper. Kings has ginormous portions for cheap so if get kings over panda any day. read more

Have been here 3-4 times in the past couple of months... came for dinner yesterday... TERRIBLE Dinner - 1 Star Service was AWFUL! Came with a party of 9, ordered family style. They forgot 2 of dishes... and finally when we mentioned something they brought them out, after everyone was already done eating. Not only that, but service was SO SLOW. I actually saw a couple other tables sit down and were not able to put in their order for at least 20 minutes. Food itself was tasty... BUT EXTREMELY oily. Everytime a new dish came out we could see the oil glistening. By the end of the meal I felt a bit sick from all of the oil and grossed out. Lunch - 3 star They have the standard lunch specials which are actually pretty good. Portions are large and price is low. A nice bonus is they serve brown rice here. The best Chinese food ever? Nope. But it is good. I think it just might be the best in the Tri Valley. We've been here at least a half dozen times, but we do take out here quite a bit. It seems that they do A LOT of take out business. Every time I'm there, they have tons of bags and people coming and going the entire time. The "roast prok" is good, though I think they have fixed that typo : ) I tend to get the duck each time I'm here. The tofu dish with the meat gravy (yeah, I totally forget what its called right now) is great. And i have not found a noodle dish that I didn't like. You can ask for less salt. We do, and its still flavorful. I'd normally rate this a 3, but I will give them the extra star for being one of the better Chinese places in the Tri Valley, and saving me from having to driver 30-45 minutes. This isn't my usual Chinese spot, but I'll admit to have been very curious to try it out since I used to work up there in general area a few years ago. Anyways, what sort of convinced me to try this place out was a Facebook coupon/advertisement that would give any dine in 15% off/10% take out. When we got there, we were the first ones in, upon the first glance it was pretty clean and bright. As a kid even sort of to this day, I always enjoy seeing a fresh live tank with fish, crab or lobsters. So I'll give them a few bonus points here on that aspect. The waitresses were pretty courteous and the food was extremely quick. And I was kinda of surprised to be served hot and sour soup really without ordering anything. The soup was good but not great, my mom wasn't too fond of it being abit too vinegary for her, but I thought it was good. I ordered the beef stew with veggies and I enjoyed it a lot and the proportions were pretty decent size too boot. My mom's garlic chicken was ok, I did enjoy the flavor and thankfully I love garlic too, kinda of alittle heavy handed if you aren't prepared for it lol. The chicken was being good and delicious was a tad tough, maybe guessing from the chicken breast which may have made it alittle tough, but still good. But, yes I would definitely eat here if I was in the area again for it's good prices and proportions! read more

We had a very large group from work here today. I thought the atmosphere was very bright and cheerful inside. We had two large tables and a total of about 20 people eating here today. We got a variety of all kinds of different dishes. Some fish, shrimp, chicken, anything you could imagine, we tried it. For the vegetarians in the group, we also got some tofu dishes. Super fast service! I've never decided to leave a restaurant faster! Usually when you walk into a restaurant they seat you. Apparently this is a strange concept at King Palace. Two of us walked in and it was clear that all they had open were 4 - I REPEAT 4! of those ridiculous round tables no one but the kitchen staff uses at night when they are about to close. There was one very ratty table 3 inches too close to the door! Used by a staff member folding napkins. Clearly it was going to be annoying as people would be coming in and out as you are eating. A table in a restaurant is supposed to be hallowed space. A place to relax. Not adjust your seat to let someone pass as they apologize to enter or leave. So we barely asked to be seated at one of the lazy Susan equipped monstrosities in the farthest corner. "No!" The waitress snapped angrily without even making eye contact. Like we were unlookable. Not a "Please have a seat in the waiting area until a table opens up". But a school yard teacher "NO!!" We were completely happy to wait until a smaller table opened up. It's not like you have to wait long at a Chinese restaurant. In a strip mall! In the suburbs! We had eaten here before and I'd say the food was passable for suburbia. King Palace is the very smallest sliver of a notch above what passes for Chinese in Danville. Although I'm not sure what their obsession with tomato is all about. It seems to be in everything except the soy sauce But this is the best review I can give King Palace. Which I now know is aptly named. It's a great restaurant if you're looking for a place that's quick and convenient. There's not many places to eat in the plaza, so I find myself going to King's Palace quite often. The food consists of basically your standard Chinese dishes. I recommend the beef & broccoli. The meat is always very tender! Also, the sweet and sour chicken is one of my personal faves. The service is overall good, the waitresses are always kind and patient. One thing that bugs me everytime is how they don't provide chopsticks, unless you ask for them. As much as I wanted to give this place 5 stars, I could not for various reasons. The lady up front was rude, cold. I ordered the lunch special and I thought she asked for my name because it's not unusual, she corrected me very loudly about the total and that she wasn't asking my name. The second is the food. It's very mediocre. I paid almost 15 bucks for food that didn't taste all too great. I don't think I'll be coming to this spot again. The service was quick and friendly and environment looked clean. I ordered Szechuan Beef Dinner Special and it came with a generous portion of lo Mein, fried rice, egg roll and hot & sour soup! All ingredients were fresh and cooked to order. (I could tell there isn't some greasy pan of lo-Mein pre-cooked and sitting in the back under a heat lamp.)
