We are so happy to rediscover this Sichuan restaurant. On the way back to South Bay from Tahoe, wife craves for one of the best Sichuan food in the Bay Area but was disappointed when a quick web search showed it closed in the original Pleasanton location. Thanks to Yelp we found it has moved to San Ramon and drove over to have a late lunch. The decor is not as elaborate as the old location but the ambiance and service are great. All the dishes were made with care and taste genuine Sichuan style. I love the pot of soup which is the most unique and delicious. Hope to be back for another feast soon. read more

They can drain the oil for you if you have leftover and take it to go. - salted egg fried rice: I don't usually order fried rice at restaurants, but this is always an exception! The location used to be one of my favorite Shanghainese restaurants but it probably changed owner so it's now Sichuan food. Even before going my friend told me that there really isn't too many choices for good Chinese food around the area so my expectations wasn't that high. Even so I don't think it gives you a good value for the quality of the food. First, I know it's a Sichuan restaurant but even so it has probably the weirdest Mongolian beef I've ever had as they fried the beef. The Boiling Beef is much better but nothing to write home about. Basically everything I had was so so. The frog was not fresh. And the best is probably the cabbage dry pot which is ironic because it's literally the easiest dish. Overall for the price I would say it's worth even 3 stars. I'm giving it this rating just because this area is so lacking in Chinese food. Service is alright and I could tell right away the people working there are not from the Sichuan area. The biggest redeeming value is that they don't automatically add big tip for large group. It's however really expensive for what you get. Overall it's a restaurant that you only go if you live around the area but avoid if you live closer to better places in the Bay Area. read more

It doesn't look too big from the outside but once you step in, it's very spacious. We were greeted right away and led to our seat by a friendly gentleman. The hubby was craving wonton soup and I was craving chow mein. I had to get the honey walnut prawns because it's my favorite. The soup was a bit bland for me, however it had a lot of meat and wontons to make up for it. The prawns were very delicious but the walnuts tasted a bit burnt. The menu says it comes with pea sprouts but it actually had broccoli. I love broccoli but I was expecting pea sprouts. Almost 1/3 was skin and fat, the other 3rd was the bone... and the rest actual meat. The sauce was not too tasty... not spicy and I really can't tell what it is. The Dongpo pork shoulder I had had in other places were more of reddish brown sauce, and not this chopped chili version. 1 star for the tenderness of the actual meat part. * The disappointing pork shoulder dragged down the overall rating. The service was okay, we had to ask for water refill... and got cold water instead of hot. The overall ambience was very typical Chinese so don't expect much. Wax it worth the $80+ bill for 2? They even have a plush seating table. The lunch menu is small compared to other restaurants. I ordered broccoli beef over rice. It did NOT come with complimentary soup or egg rolls. Since I was hungry, I ordered their "Extra" soup wonton soup for $6.00. I waited 10 minutes for my soup... I realized they will serve it the same time with my entree...YEP, they did. The server and kitchen need to communicate better regarding food timing. My entree ended up cold by the time I finished the soup. I noticed the tables did not have ANY condiments (black pepper, soy sauce, chili sauce). You have to ask for them. Ugh! Wonton Soup: The wontons were soft and plentiful. I enjoyed them. The broth was lightly flavored. 3.5 Stars Broccoli Beef: Bland, no flavor. The beef slices were not consistent. Every dish was a "10." In addition, if you enjoy spicy food, this is the Mecca. I've never seen so many spicy dished on a menu. I ordered the "spicy wok tossed chicken." Damn was that good. This restaurant's reputation is a total farce. We were seated without a menu, water, acknowledgment or a single word of warning--no heads-up that the kitchen was drowning or that service would be non-existent. The lack of communication was a deliberate trap. After an agonizing wait, we realized their "strategy" was to pacify us by dropping one single dish at a time only when we complained. It was a joke. After an hour of watching surrounding tables stew in the same collective frustration, we had only been served two cold appetizers. It's truly impressive to be that incompetent. If it takes this much effort and "nagging" just to get cold starters to the table, I can only assume the kitchen is in a state of total collapse. We eventually walked out, refusing to waste another minute of our lives being held hostage by a staff that treats basic service like an inconvenience.
