    Next stop, King St Metro!

Great way to get up and down King St from waterfront to metro! It gets bogged down a bit due to traffic but picks up closer to the metro side. Get a map and give it a try!

Great way to see Old Towne's main drag (King Street) via their free, reliable trolley/jintney from King Street Metro Station running down King St to City Hall then reverses direction back up to King Street Metro Station. Just off at any point along the way, many restaurants, stores and attractions along the way. Friendly, accommodating drivers.

King Street Trolley is such a wonderful free trolley that you can take, that will drive you down King Street in Old Town Alexandria. Starts at the King Street Metro Station and ends at the waterfront. Stops are every two blocks so that patrons have access to the numerous of restaurants and shops in Old Town. The trolley runs about every 10-15 minutes with the following schedule: Sunday-Wednesday: 11:00 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday: 10:30 a.m.-12 a.m. The seating is rather limited and can be crowded during peak times (especially Thursdays through Sundays). There have been some times in which my husband and I would get onto the trolley and there was no seating available and only had standing room only. When that happens, it gets really crowded and you are packed in like sardines. People are so unaware of their surroundings because I have been hit and nudged (all on accident, I am assuming) and even stepped on while riding the trolley. But it is nice and convenient to take. Also appreciated the air conditioning just blasting since we visited during the hot and humid month of July. Please note that the trolley will not stop at every stop unless there is someone waiting at the stop or if someone in the trolley pulls the yellow cord to let the driver know you want to stop. So just be aware of that so that you do not miss your desired stop.

Free trolley service to get up and down King Street. Nice clean buses that resemble old timey trolley cars. Was very convenient to use when we were staying in town, and were too lazy to walk up and down the business and restaurant district while shopping, eating, drinking, and exploring the area. Hop on and off both ways at most every street corner. Was able to go all the way down to the waterfront and back while seeing a lot along the way. They run every 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. It's a great free perk that I wish NYC would also incorporate, but that will never happen!

My parents and I were in Alexandria for a family picnic took a walk afterward. We saw people waiting for the trolley and it pulled up right as we reached the stop. We decided to hop on on an impulse, but we glad we did. We've never used the trolley before and were not planning to get off on any of the stops, we just wanted to see the shops. We didn't have to deal with any of the hassles that the other reviewers wrote about (infrequency) I was happy to see the the ample seating, people were genuinely nice, and the driver wasn't rude. I guess some of the passengers tip the driver as well because I saw a few dollars on the conunter-like place in the front of the bus.

Oh, the King Street Trolly: A tourist's dream and a local's nightmare! Ok, I've ridden the trolley which, for a local, is like admitting that you still use a goofy toothbrush. First, the trolley is often packed with wide-eyed tourist and the occasional bus boy or two. Most locals never use the trolley because it stops for every tourist that flags it down, which means it can literally take more than a half an hour to make to the bottom of king street (10 minute trip in your own car) But if you're a tourist, the trolley is free and kinda fun. But tourist, please take my advice and GET OFF THE TROLLEY! Yes, it will take you down to the water, and there are some wonderful sights and restaurants on the water, but if you don't GET OFF THE TROLLEY! you will miss some of the wonderful shops and restaurants at the top of King Street. Also, King Street is makes for a lovely walk, so why spoil it, crammed like sardines in a tin trolley can. As for locals driving down King Street, one of the worst things that can happen to us is to get stuck behind the Trolley, for our 10 minute drive just turned into an afternoon with us screaming: GET OFF THE TROLLEY!

Dear reader,…read more Franconia Springfield Metro may not be the flashiest station in the system, but it is absolutely one of the better ones to use. It is spacious, easy to navigate, and generally feels far less chaotic than some of the other stations in the area, which is a blessing in itself. Whether you are commuting regularly or just heading into the city for the day, the whole setup makes getting around feel simple and efficient. One of its best qualities is how practical it is. There is plenty of parking, it is easy to access, and it connects well for people coming from different directions, which makes the whole experience feel very civilized by Metro standards. The station also usually feels clean and well maintained, and overall it is just a reliable place to start or end your trip. No great drama here, just a station that does exactly what it needs to do and does it well. In my book, that earns high marks.
