Today, I took my car into King Volkswagen for some minor service. I was somewhat nervous about using this facility because the reviews of King Volkswagen are very bad. However, the facility is directly across the street from my office and it seemed that the location was too convenient to ignore. I am happy to report that my own experience was very different than the reviews I have read. My service consultant, Michael Park, greeted me politely and professionally, with my name even though it was the very 1st time I have ever been there. He was knowledgeable and fast in his work. He delivered updates and information that were accurate and exactly as promised. Further, the work performed was done perfectly. The reason I do not give a 5 star review is because of the woman in the cashier's office. When I approached, she was on her cell phone for some 12 minutes (yes, I timed her) playing some sort of video game which I was able to see. After waiting for what I think is an unacceptable period of time, she started to scan in some paperwork while talking to me. Not once did she look me in the face. Her communication was not professional and was not polite. She was dismissive. It is a shame to degrade the good customer service I had received up to that point with her attitude of "I don't care anything about you." If you go to King Volkswagen, please ask for Michael Park. Let me preface this by saying I am not a fan of dealing with dealerships, nor am I a fan of having to buy a new car. I would imagine that's pretty much the norm for most people. I was suspicious when I spoke to Albert, my salesperson, who was completely organized, super personable, not pushy, gave me the answers that I wanted, and nothing was ever shady, or tricky or deceptive. I was searching for a new VW. I called Albert. I did not come to the showroom. I spoke to him. He gave me the out-the-door price, and it was an amazing deal. I can't say so much about some of the other dealerships in the area, including a very big one that starts with the letter O. They were pushy. I got calls from over three or four different salespeople from the same place, so it got very confusing. Where at King, I only dealt with Albert. When I finally came to look at the models they had available, I was super excited and started the sales process. Filling out the paper was super easy. It took about an hour in total. We also dealt with the finance department with a man named Yousof. He was also straightforward about options for extended warranties, etc. Only tried to upsell us on things that he felt were legitimate. Told us about the things he felt were not legitimate. When we did our research, he was completely correct. There was no deceptive actions there as well, which was super refreshing. They gave us an amazing deal for our trade-in, and we were so happy with all of the service and support there. Don't think twice about bringing your business to King Volkswagen and Kia. read more

Buyer Beware Especially if you are out of state. I am from Virginia. I found a Honda Pilot I liked the salesman was very nice. Then 4 things happened that made me write this negative review. First they would not negotiate on the price. Which I could let go since it was a pretty good price and I had come all that way (52 Miles round trip) Second we went to fill out all of the paperwork I went back to my salesman and he asked for the temporary tag. I wasn't given it. I was then told there was a problem with my license and they would work it out and bring me the car Monday. As it turned out the temporary tag had been printed and they mixed it up in some other paperwork. The salesman did deliver the car Monday. Third I recieved a message from my credit union that my preapproved loan check was rejected because it wasn't signed correctly. Now maybe I should have know better but it had been 15 years since I bought a car and I would think since they take these check all the time they should have checked all signatures were correct. As a result of this we had to go to the Credit Union get a new check and my husband had to take it up to the dealer. (Trip 2 another 52 miles round trip) Fourth after 6 weeks I had not recieved my Virginia tags so I called to get a tracking number for the VA DMV to see where the tags were. I was told from the tags and registration department that they were waiting for me to get a Virginia emissions inspection and that I need to send them a copy, This was Never Mentioned until I called to ask the dealer what was the delay. The next day my Husband made the 3rd trip (52 Miles round trip) up there to pick up the tags. To add insult to injury a notice my tags were ready arrived the next day. We had to drive 156 miles spend the time and gas because they failed to check and explain the process. They never even said they were sorry or they would train their cashiers better. I am from Pennsylvania and was looking for a 2024 Taos SE Blue, the color and features I wanted were unavailable in my area. I requested King Volkswagen to send me a copy of the Window sticker to ensure that all the security features in the car were included. As a senior citizen, those features are especially important! They never did send me the sticker. King's internet price seemed very reasonable, so they sent me a printout of the "Out the Door Price." They advertised one price on the Internet which was nowhere on their printout sent to me. They started their computation with the MSRP which was a lot more than their advertised price. Their bottom line was way out of line! I pointed that out to the salesperson. He replied, "You won't get this price anywhere else." Thank God, I would need to mortgage my house to meet their inflated price. My experience with King Volkswagen has been terrible. I accompanied my mother to purchase a new car, and the salesperson aggressively convinced her to buy a package with free oil changes. She liked the offer since it was similar to what she had on her previous vehicle. The first oil change went smoothly, but during the second, we were informed that the service could only be performed every 10,000 miles or six months. Before even reaching 10,000 miles, the oil pressure light came on, requiring an oil top-up. Clearly, the package is worthless if the car cannot make it to 10,000 miles without needing more oil. After the third oil change, the car's EPC light turned on. A mechanic friend discovered that oil was leaking everywhere and the dipstick showed no oil. King Volkswagen's service department offered no assistance. Beware of their pushy salespeople and incompetent service department. read more

Our sales consultant, Kevin and our sales manager, Robert, were extremely helpful. I've never had such a smooth vehicle purchase. We went to another dealership (won't say the name but they are in Tyson's) the day before and the whole process took over 6 hours. We were in and out with a new car in no more than 2.5 hours, including the test drive, negotiations (which was less than 5 minutes), finance, and detailing. I bought my last car at King, and had a great experience, it was smooth and efficient and everything went well. That was 2-3ish years ago. So we decided to come back for another Volkswagen! Today we leave incredibly disappointed with the service, transparency, and professionalism. We scheduled an appointment to see a Tiguan at 1 today and had been in correspondence with Chris. Today, Chris bumped the appointment back twice, first 2, then 3. We live an hour away, but showed up promptly at 3. We were prepared to drive the car off the lot, exchanging a check for keys! We waited a few minutes in the lobby/waiting area for Chris (don't get me started on the front desk women berating some of the workers. Telling one of them they were an idiot, but hey, at least it was to their face!) . Chris walks me around the car, telling me they had 2 more hours of detailing. Weird, but okay, they can do that while we sign papers! The car had some visible scratches and dings. Chris, then, proceeds to tell me that the previous owner was a painter. The back seat cup holders had white paint all over the black interior. I start seeing brush marks and dabs here and there. We walk to the front passenger door, and my dad opens it. White paint was spilled and dried ALL over the black leather seat, with wet spots looking like King had tried to get it out, but couldn't yet. My eyes bugged out of my head. We got in and in a few moments decided, this was bogus and false advertising. Turning off the car, and handing the keys to Chris. The stock photos they used on the advertisement were MOST certainly not the white spillage that we'd seen. They kept pushing back our appointment, it was just unprofessional and showed the scheduled appointment was an afterthought. So then, what's the point of an appointment if the car you're ready to leave with, isn't ready? Chris and my dad exchanged words, Chris kept telling us that they knew about the paint and had 2 more hours of detailing and it'd be out. But we didn't know, and if they'd have told us, we would've looked elsewhere, but there you have it. This seriously tarnished our view of King. We will not be back. read more

I will forever be Indebted to the service department at King Volkswagen. To make a long story short my car ended up needing a full transmission replacement. This was caused by an incident driving down 95 in GA. where the car in front of me hit a large piece of tire debris causing it to hit my car and go underneath my car, knocking the seal of the of my transmission loose. This created a leak inside that I was unable to see and wasn't aware of until it was too late because of my car having a sealed transmission. My insurance was willing to pay for the body damage but not the transmission because we could not prove it was from the accident. It's a long crappy story regarding the insurance company that I will not get into. Anyhow my car was just out of warranty when this happened ( isn't that how this stuff always works out ), and I was left with a car that I had to either replace the transmission or buy a new one. A new one would have left me very upside down loan wise and my car value was more then the cost to replace the transmission however it was over $10k to do. As you can imagine I was going through a rough situation. King Volkswagen service department submitted a good cause claim for me to have my transmission replace by them and would cover a large portion (largest I should say) of the repair cost. For this reason alone, I will always go here for my car needs. Hands down, they took care of me and now I'm forever a loyal King Volkswagen customer. read more

Hopefully the rest of the team will treat you as well as they did me. The service team, especially Michael Park, has been awesome over the years. I had a small, cosmetic issue that I noticed after 12K miles, the cut off for that type of issue. But the King VW team took care of it for me. Throughout the oil changes and scheduled maintenance checks over the years Michael and his team have treated my car very well. It's run perfectly since I got it here. They have also been up front and honest about what I actually need done versus what would be good to look for in the future. And the price has always been fair. I honestly wouldn't trust anyone else with my car at this point. Also another small but important thing, they do a great job washing your car after a service appointment. It's a nice touch! He was to the point, honest, and professional. It was the quickest and most pain free car buying experience I have had and I am very happy with my purchase of a 2021 VW Atlas SEL Premium. They stayed open after their 6 pm closing to accommodate us with absolutely no hassle or attitude. We arrived at 630 to boot. I was shopping the Highlander, Palisade, and Atlas. We settled on the Atlas after a month of comparing and test driving. At one point I had over 50 dealerships in the process in a 100 mile area. On the way to pick it up, I had another VW dealer telling me the deal was impossible and no way it was honest. Well it was as advertised. We just had our Volkswagen serviced at King Volkswagen. They have some very good, efficient features that we haven't experienced at other dealerships. We were able to text our service consultant--which really made the process smooth and efficient. He texted us with the repairs needed and kept us updated. Every auto service center should have that system! Our consultant carefully went over the bill with us and detailed everything they fixed. I really appreciate King's good customer service. No one wants to be that customer that spends a pretty penny on a brand new car at a dealership, only to be discarded after they have your money. For instance, I had issues getting my tags (I'm out of state) in the weeks after I bought my car, I attempted to cancel a vehicle service contract in late 2020 and have dealt with staff that flat out lied about processing my request (as confirmed by the vendor which I had to contact directly). It should not take six weeks to process a form that both myself & the dealer are required to sign and send to the vendor. We're all busy, overwhelmed during these crazy times and it's not an excuse. Those of us lucky enough to have a job should do it well and take pride in what we do. That means act in an honest manner and DO YOUR JOB - it's what you're paid to do. I will never ever service my car here, nor will I ever recommend this dealer and/or come here again for future car-buying needs. Finally, I brought it to the sales agent's attention early on that the water based paint was easily chipping with normal driving and he did send me VW touch up paint.. but c'mon, could have offered for me to bring it in and have it corrected or have a paint protectant applied. For the most part, the staff at this location have been nice and the shuttle drivers are adorable. I have been having my vehicle serviced here for almost 3 years and have had brake problems for the majority of that time. When I first discovered a brake issue, a guy here (I think his name was Kevin) contacted VW and they agreed to resurface my rotors and replace the brakes for very little $. It should have been completely free as the vehicle was damn near new and still under warranty. Anyway, ever since then, my brakes squeak and squeal like a pig. I know VW brakes are sensitive, but this is not normal and its embarrassing when I come to a stop. I recently brought the vehicle in and told that there was a little rust on the brakes and that this squeaking (it is LOUD) is normal. I must have stupid written on my forehead. I don't feel like they were honest or transparent with me. I thought about bringing it somewhere else, but I'm just going to get rid of it and say RIP to VWs....never again. I bought 2 VW passats here at King Volkswagen Gaithersburg MD. 2018 Model and 2020 as well. Both of them had the same problem in about 15000 miles . FUEL INJECTOR FAILD - both cars brake down and smell of the fuel inside the cabin was so bad. ( two different models 2018 and 2020 the same problem) My second problem is tire and wheel protection plan that sales persons are promoting in this dealership MAG- MAXIMUS AUTO GROUP Completely fraudulent company! I called them after I had problem with my tire. They don't provide towing assistance even if you have this option in contract! They told me to find a place who can fix my tire and they gonna send a check to them . After I find a place MAG stop answering on my calls . All information and documents about two defective cars sold by King Volkswagen and tire protection plan company I will provide to Federal Trade Commission. I hope all new VW Passats drivers are safe on US roads . I came in as a frustrated and guarded customer, discouraged by how little the car buying process has come in terms of treating all customers fairly-- to give you an idea of how long it's been since I last went through the process-- I was trading in a 17 year-old Volvo. But the car I wanted was sitting at VW King. I came in armed and ready to deal with another pack of shady dealership salespeople, and boy, had I seen my share of them! And in stepped Mike Sepulveda. Mike was great from the start, he was able to give me thorough information about the car I was after, took us on a nicely varied test drive, and hung in there when I went in for negotiation with the finance folks. I came out a very happy owner of a 2015 Mazda 3. The unhappy part was the car getting hit within 30 minutes of me getting it home and parked in VA. However, Mike was even sympathetic then, and was nice enough to give me advice on dealing with insurance, body shops, etc. I can honestly say he's stayed with me every step of the way and always follows up with a phone call right away. Oh man, I can't believe I haven't shared my experience here. All events took place around February of 2018. For integrity's sake, I am referencing a Google review I left immediately after my experience so all events are properly stated. At this point in time, I was looking for a daily driver and the Golf R was an option I was considering. I was specifically looking in the used market and King VW had one in their inventory. I drove there to check it out and had quite the interesting experience. I go to the information desk, the lady is on her phone as I greet her and say "Hello". No response, so I wait thinking it was a bit rude. After about 20-30 seconds, I say hello again to no avail. Finally, I say a bit louder "Hey!" Not as polite this time but I didn't know what to do. She apologized and put me in touch with a salesperson. I meet this guy, I can tell he's all about the typical salesperson game. It is what you come to expect when getting a car. I tell him I'm interested in checking out the used Golf R they have in inventory. Before continuing, he says I can only test drive it if I agree to the price. I ask him how low he can go, he said he can drop it by 1-200. No big deal, I was fine with the price and I just wanted to see if I'd like it. So I told him, "Okay, that's not great but if I like it, I'll buy it." This conversation then ensues... Him: So you agree to buy the car? Me: If I like it Him: You can't drive it until you agree to buy the car Me: What? I'm weighing out options right now so I just want to see if I like it. I've never driven a Golf R but I've always been interested in them so that's why I'm here. I'm not going to buy a car without driving it first. Him: It's very rare, we can't let you test drive it. People will just beat on it and abuse it. This goes on for awhile, I tell him I'm serious and I want to buy a car by next week but he keeps resisting and giving me excuses. Anyways, after getting fed up I decide to leave. Telling him this has been quite unpleasant and I'll just head out. He decides to get his manager so I decide to wait. I can hear them talking in the background. Not being very polite about the situation and talking loud enough that I can overhear. Manager comes explaining to me I can't drive it but I could drive a Golf Autobahn. Great, those cars are different. Suspension, throttle response, drivetrain, performance, and so on... they're different and I'm not going to buy a USED GOLF R from my experience with another car. It's a used car so the idea is to test out the condition and get the feel for it since it isn't even new. I couldn't believe it. He was saying I'd burn out the clutch or something but the car is an automatic, so he didn't even do his research before talking to me. He even had the brilliant idea to tell me they are practically the same and I wouldn't notice the difference lol. At one point, this happens: Me: when I bought my brand new car, I was able to test drive it like a normal sale. They had no problem with that. Manager: Well... what car do you have? Me: M3 Manager: Well, the Golf R is rare so I can't I just couldn't believe it. My 80k F80 M3 I was able to test drive but a 34k used Golf R was off limits? Do they think this thing is a Ferrari or something? The audacity of this dude even started explaining I had to push it to feel horsepower. Yes, on a power curve, peak horsepower is reached at the higher end of the RPM spectrum and Torque is closer to the bottom. I told him I know how horsepower works. He also began explaining that AWD is different and I don't understand the concept. I mean, was this guy real? I understand it's a company policy for whatever reason but the condescending attitude was unnecessary... ------ Back to the present, and in hindsight, I'm kind of grateful. I almost ended up with an automatic (DSG). The 2018 Golf R's are looking really nice (and has a manual). I'm now once again in the market to trade the car I bought last year for a 2018 and manual. And you know what? King VW will not have my business lol. read more

So we decided to purchase at the same time hoping they would cut us a deal considering we were purchasing 2 off of their lot. When it came down to the purchasing they added all these extra fees one being a "freight fee" for 1,000 dollars which was already included in the window price. Ending up having a total of 5k added towards both SUV's we were purchasing. We asked if they would consider taking off the freight fee and they wouldn't. My husband and father in law both got approved for the military discount and all they would offer us was $250 off each vehicle.. My father in law was spending a lot more then us too, but as far as we are concerned they can keep their $250 and we'll take our 2 Suv buisness else where ‍ If I didn't have to put a star just to write this review they wouldn't had even gotten get one from me. My husband and I had been looking at cars online, due to the fact that his car was having issues and would have been more expensive to fix than it's actual worth. We were not expecting to buy anything immediately, because vehicles are not cheap let alone making sure it's kid appropriate for a good price. My husband is all about the manual transmissions, which are not so easy to come by anymore...so, you can imagine it wasn't an easy search. With all the criteria typed in online one car popped up in the results. A 2019 Volkswagen Jetta that was brand new for $14,500. This vehicle had 54 miles on it with a six year bumper to bumper warranty and more. We thought to ourselves "This can not be for real" and decided to go take a look at the car. The one hour and 15 minute drive was worth it...the price on the car was no joke. Was the world just on our side that day? Well, maybe, but the most important part was Mr. Patrick Leyelen---our sales consultant. Mr. Leyelen was simply amazing. He answered every question very honestly and made sure to go into great detail to make sure we understood everything. He also listened to my husband and I talk to each other about our situation and worries; Instead of being intrusive, he politely asked if he could get personal with us. After getting permission he commented on our concerns and gave us another way to look at things that we would not have thought of or considered. He was absolutely fantastic! Honesty, kindness, and comfortability are key when trying to make a huge decision like such, and King Volkswagen is very lucky to have such a wonderful employee work for their business and with their customers. I don't even know where to begin with this dealership. My experiences with VW has always been fantastic till I came here. If it wasn't for a limited edition car they had I would've left as soon as they started their attitude with me. The main issues I had with purchasing a brand new gti rabbit with them was *the car was filthy when we finished purchasing the car(sticker glue and dust everywhere) *the car (with less than 30 miles on it) was misaligned Sadly it was night when we bought the car otherwise we would've never gone off the lot with it looking the way it did. When we called them the very next morning about these issues they just passed us around the dealership with no help what so ever. This went on for one week. I then took action to contact VW USA on twitter and they had to reach out to the dealership about the issues. That's when the dealership finally got back to me and fixed the alignment. The second experience was just as unpleasant as the first they were unapologetic and rude. They do not care or respect the customer at all. I had the displeasure of coming to this establishment today. I found a gorgeous car for sale here and set up an appointment for today to see the car. Upon arrival, Ricardo Rodriguez was shocked to see me, saying, "The car is no longer available. I called you earlier today." However, he left no message and seeing how he never actually spoke to me to relay this information, I can't possibly imagine why he looked so stunned to see me at our set appointment. I honestly was shocked at this level of unprofessionalism. Take this as a prime example of their lack luster customer service and inept ability to communicate. I test drove it fell in love with it so Mr kambiz khadempour so called sales consultant told me to bring back proof of income,address we've been communicating thru text last minute he tells me I'm not approved for what I want so at this point there giving me something I don't want!!! Why not tell me before instead of last minute smh Anyways sucks that is where I got my 1st car and I get treated this way I'm sure there's another dealer willing to work with what I want. I searched online and found the vehicle that I wanted at King Volkswagen. I test drive the vehicle and then asked to make an offer. We agreed on a price and when it came down to making the purchase they would not sell me the vehicle because I would not use their financing. I already have a great rate with my bank less then what they would give me, so I said no I would like to use my own. Anyhow long story short, they refused to sell me the vehicle because I didn't use Volkswagens financing. Never have I been so disappointed in a company. Business must be good when you can pick and choose what financing a customer can use. Absolutely horrible! I'll get my vehicle at another dealership! read more

Eduard was honest, to the point while still being professional, and was extremely knowledgeable about both the car (2020 GTI) and VW as a brand! This made the process extremely efficient. We called earlier that week, saw the car in person that weekend and took a test drive; that day I was able to walk out with my dream car with a great price! Ive had the car for just over a month, and loving every day of it! I worked with Chuck on the finance team, and found the experience to be great as well. I came into King Volkswagen for my recommended 80,000 mile service on my GTI. I knew that it would be a costly repair, but it had to be done. I met with Andre Williams, a member of the service team, who gave me a thorough list of what the service would entail. I was given a VW loaner car - a 2019 Jetta with 15 miles on it no less - until my car would finish. Andre signed me up for text message alerts that will alert me whenever an update on my car would come up, which I though it was very neat since I rarely have time to answer phone calls at work. A few hours later into the service, turns out I had major engine trouble which would exceed the amount of money I planned to spend. I received the text alerts and a phone call from Andre who was kind enough to explain very thoroughly what was going on. He was very informative and put things into laymen's terms for me for I am not car savvy. His approach to this matter was very professional and more importantly, he was considerate of my finances. I received the car few days later and it great condition. I am very satisfied with my experience at King and will be doing all of my car servicing here from now on! read more

My experience with this dealership has compelled me to write a review. I wanted to give a local dealership a chance. I found the car I wanted. Reached out to the dealership to set up a test drive. The good: Communication through text and test drive experience. The bad: Filthy car (crusted on dirt on the exterior, there was a food wrapper in the car, the car looked as if it were abandoned), not willing to sell you the car for a fair price if you do not use their financing, and disinterested salesperson. I'm someone who tries to give businesses the benefit of the doubt after reading bad reviews on Yelp, but this dealership proved most of the negative reviews to be true. Very disappointing, considering I wanted to support a local business. Now I have to purchase the car from another dealership (which has offered to sell the car for less and is not forcing VW finance as the only option for a fair price). Be sure to read the disclaimer; otherwise, you might be told, condescendingly, that "most customers don't read the disclaimer." The disclaimer basically states that you have to meet all of their criteria for the lowest price. By the way, I was not asking for the lowest, disclaimer listed, price. Unfortunate experience. I will never understand how a dealership can pass on a sure fairly priced sale for the prospect of a future sale. The car has clearly been sitting there for a while. ***If you are purchasing a car now, be prepared to have dealerships try to increase prices due to the microchip shortage. Be prepared for possible price gouging. Try to find dealerships that will not use this as an excuse. read more
