3.5 stars This is just your average Chinese takeout place with the difference that it is halal. I had the beef "char fun" (flat rice noodles) but was a bit bland but the noodles were fresh. It was ok. The General Tso's chicken was more flavorful but tastes more like the traditional sweet and sour flavor (not the Americanized chinese version) than General Tso's. There was actually a bit of heat to this one. Most of the time Chinese takeout restaurants say it is spicy but it isn't at all. This one here is actually a little spicy. read more

This is the worse Americanized Chinese food I've ever had. The rice was hard, no flavor that it was even cooked in a wok. The hot and sour soup was too thick and had no flavor and was too pale for what hot and sour soup is suppose to be. No hint of spice. The general Tso chicken was sad- limp and the meat was so dry. The egg rolls just have an anemic looking amount of cabbage. The beef was chewy. The lo mein noodles were overcooked and kept breaking. The vegetables at least weren't limp. But the family platter is a rip off. All the dishes are small portions and I could have gotten more food ordering Individual dishes at my normal place for less money. I threw all the food out. Ordered delivery via Postmates, just wanting to switch it up from my regular spot across the street. I know the reviews weren't great, and there was a lot of mention of things having changed quality wise, but I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, just your average Chinese takeout food. I ordered the lunch special combo of chicken lo mein with plain fried rice and a chicken egg roll (which was .50 more). The total was 10.50 and I also had to pay for hot oil which was .50 as well. I really dislike when places charge extra for their sauces. The food arrived timely, the portion was okay, and there was nothing to really write home about. The container seemed a bit smaller than most Chinese takeout orders, and the fried rice was beyond bland and plain. The lo mein was okay, good amount of chicken in there, but otherwise, not terribly flavorful. The hot oil saved the day. What's funny is, I actually requested the food be made spicy, and there was not even a little bit of chili in there whatsoever, so it's a good thing I paid for the hot oil. The chicken egg roll was your average egg roll. Can't say I'd order from here again because my regular spot definitely has better portions and a lot more flavor to their food. I ordered my food on Uber eats. I got the Tsaos chicken, the hot and sour soup, chicken dumplings and broccoli with brown sauce. The tsaos chicken was not too saucy. It had the perfect amount of sauce. However, there was very and I mean very little chicken in the dish. I felt like I was eating Tsao fried dough. The dish was balls of dough with only some pieces having extremely small strips of chicken. The sauce was really good and so was the rice but you are not getting any chicken here. The sautéed broccoli was really good, can't go wrong with a vegetable in brown sauce. The hot and sour soup was tasty and was tastier when I heated it up at home. It wasn't too starchy and had a soupy consistency to it. The balance of spice and sour was good. The fried chicken dumplings were okay. I don't recommend them. They were poorly pan fried. The chicken inside was bland. My meal came with a shrimp eggrolll. There was only half a shrimp in there and it was cut up and spread out in the roll. so sorry for the blurry picture folks, we were STARVING to eat because we were fasting. But yall the food HIT! The fried rice and bourbon were amazing and I devoured half of it. The lo mein wasn't as good as usual because the beef was a bit more tough. French fries, scallion pancake and wings were scrumptious and amazing. Ice tea was the worst one I had in a while which sucked. But the service was so good, they gave us dates and fruits and roofaza which was so sweet. They also brought over water (they ended up charging for this but it was nice nonetheless) for us to break fast. It was really quiet for most of while we were there and they had the Quran playing which was really nice to see. read more

Came here for the closest Chinese takeout from Moser park. This takeout was surprisingly good! Had the beef and broccoli, chicken with garlic sauce, shrimp with mixed veggies. Ate here last night after work with my coworkers for dinner on a really cold and freezing evening. This place is definitely 100% halal that there's no pork on the menu and it's definitely Chinese and Halal. The price was reasonable and affordable. We all got different dishes to eat individually and sat together in one table. The service was also attentive that we didn't waited too long to wait and get our orders right that it took awhile. The food I ordered and got was pepper steak with fried rice and a side of egg roll it tasted just ok and there was little bit of beef on it that there was too much sauce and onions and green bell pepper on it as well. After being a customer of this very establishment since it opened years ago, I called this evening with a very simple order looking forward to a delicious classic Chinese meal. Not only, after I repeated my address which is two blocks from their Jackson Heights establishment five times, was I as yet asked if I'm in Astoria or Woodside, but it was only after I tried to order FROM THE MENU that I was told they are a Halal restaurant that doesn't serve pork. This is an insult to the original King Wah, which was owned by Joanne and her husband, and had excellent Chinese food that included a full typical menu. I do hope they will honor the owners of King Wah, that has been a Jackson Heights institution and change!their business's name and update their online presence so the consumer is not misled thinking that they have the same traditional Chinese menu. This site is misleading and falsely advertises their business. It is also hoped that they find a qualified individual to take orders who can handle taking down an address even after it is repeated five times. I sadly will never be "King Wah's" customer again when I was a VERY good customer having take out deliveries at both my home and at my law office a few times per month. read more

This used to be my go to Chinese restaurant since it opened over 30 years ago. I went there once a week. They had great portions, regular plates and silverware and glasses. No more. They even charge now for water. The portions are now half the size. No more pork dishes and a lot of the other dishes are gone. The fried rice and egg roll are now terrible. The scallion pancakes and Singapore noodles were great - would definitely order these again. The pancakes were flaky and fluffy, and the noodles had the right amount of spice and flavor. If you want to order "general tso's chicken" but really want to receive oblong, fried batter-lumps, this is your place. Terrible portions, no flavor, etc. The place used to be a takeout staple of the area, but they changed owners/personnel and did a whole overhaul, keeping only the name. Do not be lured in by the nice interior-- the food is extremely sub-par. You want the chicken, spinach and white rice dish that costs almost $12.00? After decades of coming to King Wah I was extremely disappointed when I called to place my order and to my surprise was told they do not serve pork any longer which to me was one of King Wahs many specialties including bbq spare ribs, pork fried rice, ha moon soup with roasted pork, dumplings etc. If they wish to keep the name of the original establishment they should also honor the menu that came along with it to avoid confusion but most of all sheer disappointment. read more

If I could give this restaurant 0 starts I would. It was late and I was starved. They were open. I thought broccoli should be safe enough. Ordered broccoli with white sauce and I got rancid, yellowed broccoli in the most disgusting congealed slop. It was inedible and I don't know how they can be open and serve this way. We ordered takeout a few times at this Jackson Heights Chinese takeout place. What makes us come back to this place over other locations is the fact that they have healthier options. You don't usually associate Chinese takeout with healthy but this place makes it somewhat less guilty with some of the items on their menu. For one they have brown rice, have a large variety of vegetable options, and some staple items have more than the usual amount of greens. For those times you don't feel like cooking, King Wah offers comfort Chinese takeout with just a little less guilt. That's a win in my books. Pros: - Conveniently located off Northern Blvd and Grand Central Parkway. Meter parking is usually available right out front. - Has all of the usual Chinese take out items and then some - Plenty of seating inside - Pricing is similar to other similar locations in the area Cons: - Dated interior. I don't think there's air conditioning here for those hot days. - Cleanliness issues on occasion. When we went in a few times, we found tables that were in need of busing and cleaning. I have never in my life tried Chinese food that I don't like, but this place is the exception. The general Tso chicken was ok , but the fried rice left a lot to be desired . Very dark in color , too much soy sauce and no other flavors . There was some scrambled eggs on it and no pork ( I ordered pork fried rice). This rice was similar to the fried rice westerners cook when they are learning how to cook fried rice , they douse it in soy sauce and oil . read more

This place is everything a neighborhood Chinese food place should be and it never disappoints. The dumplings are so good. The General Tso's arrives magically crisp and does the broccoli in the chicken and broccoli. I also love the pork fried rice here. This place is our go-to. Delivery is always on time or earlier. Food is excellent and with great flavor. I'm from Puerto Rico, where Chinese food tends to be different (in the best way possible) and this place is almost like the one there. Egg rolls are the best of the area. I was disappointed with my order. I used to love the bone-in spare ribs. My small order contained two nice meaty ribs the rest were dry and inedible. The sauteed broccoli was smothered in a brown sauce and didn't have the nice garlic slices that they used to use. Sometimes you just need to do Chinese Take Out. I have found King Wah on Northern Blvd. off 69th Street to be, by far, superior to those located near my Boulevard Gardens end of Woodside. The food is always fresh and tasty, and the delivery quick. They advertise on their menu that they are the "King of the Boneless Rib", and I must agree that they certainly are.
