Meh, standard American Chinese. Not that I was looking for anything authentic b/c this place isn't it. Consider who's giving the reviews here, there's no authentic Cantonese anywhere near Amelia, all are Americanized Chinese. That said, it was OK. General Tso was way too bready and not fried with hot enough oil. Pretty saucy so it was pretty sweet which is how most places make it to appeased the American palette. Beef broccoli was a little better, but not very flavorful. A lot more broccoli than beef which was fine since the beef wasn't velveted well. Meat was kinda chewy but the broccoli was crisp. I've been here 7 or 8 times. Food is hot and good. I typically get Sweet and Sour Chicken and a large Wonton soup with no wontons (I have kids- if your a parent you know what that means). If I could give NO stars I would! We just called to place a pick up order and the man on the phone, was abrupt and unfriendly, and ultimately hung up without even saying goodbye or thank you. We decided to take our business elsewhere, after being treated so rudely, so we called back, less than a minute later, and we canceled our order. When my husband tried to explain the rudeness he had received, the man on the phone proceeded to curse and scream at him, saying "F... You" repeatedly. If you're looking for New-York style Chinese food - this is the place for Fernandina. The food is consistently well-prepared, fresh and hot. The prices are as good as the food quality. Orders are normally ready within 10-15 min, but can run longer at peak times. This is a take-out restaurant only. No seating. If you find it hard to locate, it's in the same shopping center as Publix, tucked into the corner to the right of Staples, behind Barbarito's. Decided to try this King Wok and honestly regret it. The food was bland / stale and gave me a massive stomach ache the next day. Also probably the only Chinese place I've ever been that charged for fortune cookies. Not a huge deal in reality but more than anything an indicator of a place that cuts corners. read more

This place is the best on the island! Very small; so, mainly take out. Quality proteins and noodles... Tasty, and Very Flavorful... Not sure why anyone would say otherwise. A truly authentic ethnic restaurant with quality local ingredients. Operated by a Chinese Husband and Wife team, who are very friendly, "IF YOU Are". So those of you who have stated in your review that they seemed otherwise, I would have to see YOUR Yelp Review as a person, before I can believe you were actually treated differently than I've experienced.... They are very accommodating, so talk to them about what YOU like. And remember, true ethic restaurants are just families cooking for themselves and sharing. Great local, neighborhood Chinese food. Consistent flavor, service, and quality. We lived off-island for years and had our favorite spot (China One in Yulee) and worried we would have to drive 20 minutes for good Chinese food after we move onto the island last year. King Wok is now our Amelia Island favorite for Chinese food and we're happy to be able to shop locally. read more

"You get what you pay for"... sadly in this post COVID, hyper inflated world we now live in, even that phrase is no longer accurate. I'm new to the FL area (Fernandina Beach, to be exact) and have seriously been let down by the Asian cuisine community (definitely not representing well). Perhaps I'm spoiled, having come from the US' Asian cuisine Mecca (Los Angeles) where you can practically find a dozen Chinese places, open nearly all night, within a stones throw and all having great quality. So far, I've eaten at Ahan Thai in Fernandina Beach or maybe Yulee, (not exactly sure which city that place geographically lies in) and it was nothing like any of the numerous Thai places I've eaten at in the past 15 years (pretty sure I've written some fantastic reviews on a couple). Anyway, let's talk about the food. The reason this place gets 2 stars is because the food was bland. Critic: "Well Sam, what's bland to one person may not be bland to another." Me: "Good point fair critic. And to that argument I introduce to you, one of your peers. The Queen of Bland-ville (my wife). Even she put down her bull horn and walked over to me from her anti-sodium podium to ask for soy sauce. SOY SAUCE! About the only thing worse than table salt in the sodium family! I couldn't believe it. I think my son (a decorated, twice wounded, soldier in the war for sodium) and my mouths both dropped when Queen No Fun made her demand. Not only did she insist on soy sauce, but she came back for seconds!! As in, the first pouring of soy sauce (which I applied generously) wasn't even close to enough! To further illustrate my point about how boring my wife's taste buds are, she likes plain-ol chips. I'm talking like plain tortilla chips. Like the kind you use for dipping, but without the dip. Lightly salted, at best! Like me and the kids are all Dorito'ed out. Even the 5 yr old comes rolling into town with a bag of Takis in hand. But no. Not old, 'Fun, 100 miles in the opposite direction'. She just has plain-ol chips. Same for her cereal. Special K. Cheerios. You name it, it's boring. Get the picture?" So there you have it. The food was bland. We ordered chicken fried rice. May as well have been white rice. Chow mein chicken. Tasted like vegetable broth. Orange chicken. Tasted like orange chicken but approx. 85% breading, 12% sauce, 3% meat. (3) orders of steamed dumplings. Tasted like sweet bread...SWEET BREAD? Not the typical delicious and savory pork or whatever meat you're accustomed to having them taste like, with the appropriately proportioned steamed wrapping to meat ratio. Nope. They tasted like a mouthful of wrapping, with a lingering hint of ginger or cinnamon (which I am not a fan of when I'm expecting savory). Really strange. No satisfying savory meat flavor that leaves you anticipating the next bite. Sincerely disappointing. Especially since, as you might have surmised, we normally LOVE steamed dumplings! I'm talking 'PO' (Kung-Fu Panda) LOVE THEM! Hence the (3) orders. We also had a small order of the beef and broccoli. That was on par with most. No complaints on that. On the bright side. They said 20 mins for my pick up. They were punctual. Granted the place was dead (should have been my second warning flag). However, there website says they deliver and when I called to place my delivery order, they said they don't (first offense, but I chalked that up to COVID). All in all, I'd definitely recommend trying another place. This order ran me just shy of $70, and not one of my three kids, nor nor wife liked it. They ate what they could choke down, just enough to get rid of any hunger pains, and the rest went into the fridge, where I'm conducting an experiment to see if it's one of those surprising dishes that happens to taste better reheated than it does fresh. More Chicken than rice. You read that last sentence correctly, they give me more chicken than rice. Fried rice was delicious, I haven't had fried rice this good in years. The small soup is huge, about 16oz. The egg rolls were awesome. Light and flaky, not greasy at all. The general chicken was great. The chicken was still crispy even though it was smothered in sauce. The general sauce was on the sweet side, still good though. I was given chili oil which gave me the spice I wanted. The sesame chicken was perfect. Crispy and juicy. Great sauce. Did I mention that they will give you more chicken than rice. I will be going back tomorrow to explore their menu. read more

I have ordered from this restaurant about 3 times. The food is decent. Each time time I have ordered from King Wok, the consistency of flavor and quality of their food has changed and not in a good way. The best thing on their menu is the egg rolls, most likely because they are deep fried. As far as the customer service, in two words IT SUCKS!! I called an order to pick up and the lady was so very short with me and kept cutting me off asking me if I was done with my order. Finally, when I was done ordering, she hung up without telling me how long my order would take. She didn't even verify my telephone number. Very disappointing. Omg no. My dad occasionally brings this home from the island and it is just not good food... now today I ordered a small chicken Broccoli myself. The guy on the phone with super rude and the food was just disgusting. Entirely flavorless and they must not rinse the baking soda off the chicken very well because you could literally taste it/it gave the chicken the texture of having been coated in baking soda. Just really nasty. And to top it all off there was a long linen string about halfway down into the container of my chicken broccoli. So nasty! Not much better than finding a hair honestly. Very bland. Fried rice w chicken is a very odd yellow color, almost no onions and no other veg, no egg, no sprouts. Very odd. Tasteless. "Fantail" shrimp were little dough ball, emphasis on dough. They had a heavy stinky seafood smell. Fresh seafood doesn't smell so that's a little concerning. Steamed dumplings were ok, but the dough was very thick. These are pre made I'm certain. Chicken teriyaki was pretty good. Inside it's an odd little place w 1 table only so I'm guessing it's primarily takeout. Would I go here again? Probably not. I love Chinese food. Tried King Wok last night. Clean place, the staff seemed stressed. The food was bland, no taste at all. We had to season every dish with soy sauce and "salt". Never had to add salt to Chinese food before this. Lucky Wok is better, but still not great. read more

Food is average. No customer service. And they're never on time when I place call ahead orders. Every time I've called ahead with my order, even though they gave me a ready time, I still had to wait 20-40 additional minutes for it. I tried to share my feedback with them. Owners are incredulous. Don't care if they over promise and under delivery. When I complained about wait times, they said they didn't care if I had to wait 20 more minutes. Offered me a free soda after waiting 40 minutes.
