First Visit Service was incredibly speedy! - Wicked Wings (5/5). This was really good. Highly recommend visiting on Wednesday for these - Crispy Pork Chop (4/5). A nice take on a classic HK dish. Sauce wasn't too overbearing and meshed well with the rice - Fried Greens (2/5). This was average. Was nice to have some greens but nothing special - Trio Bao (3/5). Baos were alright - a bit steep pricing wise for 3 baos though - Beef Noodle Soup (4/5). A good hearty bowl of noodle. Some chilli oil on the side would be nice - Octopus (4/5). Was very good. I can't rave about this place enough! As soon as you walk through the doors you know you hit the jackpot! You are typically greeted by the owner, who is clearly passionate about the experiences customers have at the Wicked Bao and the amazing food they offer. The energy and excitement is unmatched, it feeds the energy of the entire restaurant, from the staff to the customers! All I can say is don't be shy, order a bunch of food, try a little bit of everything, you can't go wrong! Also, be on the lookout for the daily specials. I have heard a lot of accolades about this place and could not get the chance to visit it. Every time I went it was closed. Note. They are closed Sunday and Monday. The one time I went the place was jammed packed and I decided to return another day. So I finally went! Oh my goodness what a flavor palette! Lots of choices for appetizers, noodles and rice and main course meals. You can order and then sit in the dining room, bar or outside. The owner is very engaged with the people and wears a beautiful smile, obviously proud of what she has built. The food was delicious, the seasoning, the textures and sauces. There was not one thing that I found disappointing. We enjoyed spring rolls, pork dumplings, and the Bao Trio. Highly recommended! They have a full bar with a few beers on tap. This is a family run place. The hostess greeted us and walked us through the menu. We ordered and the food was brought to us. I had the chicken bao and the Mrs had the pork bao. Service was very quick and friendly and the food was excellent. The place is in an industrial area, but the restaurant is well lit and the parking is right outside. Two ordered the crispy pork chop with rice which was a nice portion. They both liked it as it's their usual dish. I gave it a try and would rate it just ok. Breaded pork cutlet with a sweet chili sauce but nothing special. I ordered the grilled octopus which was fine maybe a little overcooked, the pork dumplings which I enjoyed. They were tasty but a little in the sweet side and my wife ordered the spring rolls which had a good flavor and the panko crusted tuna which was my favorite dish on the table. It came with a side of rice and a tasty cucumber salad. Overall the experience was good and probably would return. Wicked Bao is a hidden gem! It's a couple of blocks off the main drag, but so worth it. We were enthusiastically greeted at the door, and the menu options and ordering process were explained. We ordered at the front, went to our table and the drinks and food came out so fast! There are servers who circulate around constantly, offering extra plates for sharing, straws, etc. and responded so quickly to requests for extra napkins, etc; they were all friendly and smiling, wearing cute bao T-shirts. The crispy tofu bao were fantastic, and so were the peanut noodles (generous portion!). It is so difficult to find good vegan options, it was so nice to have something delicious vs. another sad vegan burger! This place is so popular in Amelia Island for a good reason. It's so good. The line is out the door, but the reason is because you order when you come inside and the menu is visible on the wall. Afterwards, you can find a seat and they bring your food to you. For this visit, I ordered the Panko ahi tuna bao buns. It comes in two but others come in three, the ones with meat at least. I scarfed these down so fast but it is bc it was soo tasty. Like my fave food on this whole trip. Definitely this is worth it and I would crave their food now. Thus why I wished I ordered more here. This place is busy and you may or may not be able to hear the others in your group. They do have outside seating also which would be ideal at other times of the year. Wicked Bao feels like a secret society dinner club on Amelia Island. They are located in a shipyard and inside an old house. Wicked Bao has a mysterious vibe of an underground club. The line outside was long and we tried to squeeze in the door to avoid the rain. You order and then wait for a seat, reservations are not available. On the menu is Pho, small plates, noodles, rice dishes, bao buns and many vegetables side dishes. We ordered the three braised pork belly bao with pickled greens, cilantro and peanut powder. The baos were fluffy, moist and easy to inhale. We ordered three buttermilk fried chicken bao with arugula and jalepeno aioli. The chicken was nicely battered and fried, but virtually no flavor. The roti canai with a curry dipping sauce was delicious. Our final order was the wok fried green beans special with mayo. They were ok, but not memorable. Wicked Bao has a cool vibe with hip foods at a more than reasonable cost. Their busy staff was hustling at all times. I would definitely return as the menu has multiple items that look intriguing. This restaurant looks like a cute little house from outside, offering both interior and patio seating. It's a very trendy hot spot, and we went on a Friday. It was very busy. We stood in the queue to order about 15 minutes. It then took another 25 minutes to get our table. This isn't a traditional sit down and order restaurant. It's like an Asian Tijuana Flats. You order ahead and wait for them to call your number for your table. Then you wait for the food to arrive at your table. We got an order of the chicken satay, the veggie potstickers, the beef noodle soup, and 2 Bulgogi beef bao buns, we were extremely hungry after waiting so long for the table and then the food. The problem with this place is that the plates of food arrive at different times, and I don't mean a few minutes in between. It could be 15 minutes before another plate arrives. There were times when only 1 of us was eating. Then another item would arrive. 1 item at a time. Making it very difficult to eat together. The wait times in between plates were extremely long. When we would ask what was going on, they just kinda shrugged like, "Who knows." The food was good, but I would probably never go again. I couldn't believe how quickly our food arrived - my favorite was the Vietnamese Coffee!! A layer of sweetened condensed milk in the bottom of cup and boiling water poured over the cup holding the coffee grounds. Wait for all the water to drain. Stir the coffee and milk (a little for not too sweet) and for me, I stirred all the condensed milk in the bottom -- it was a fantastic cup of coffee!!! The service was great too. The place delivered all I could have asked for in a vacation eatery. An involved owner gave me a personal greeting, the menu had numerous vegetarian options (some with egg, but a worthwhile number without), and ample indoor and outdoor seating was available. I went for green beans and these were a tad heavy being fried and with mayo, but certainly satisfying. The bao one comes for are pillowy soft buns, and fried tofu with carrot and daikon pickles makes for a simple but striking flavor clash. The chicken satay was just okay, meat is seasoned and grilled and a bit spicy. Not my favorite. The least favorite that I had was the fried rice. It was such a small portion for 20$, it was the size of an appetizer. For 20$ I could have got triple the amount of fried rice at Green Papaya Thai. The flavor wasn't great either, it was kind of bland. I took my order to go. The staff inside was very friendly and has a nice atmosphere. If I went back, I would only order the bao. read more

This is probably my favorite restaurant in the Fernandina area. I found this local Jem years ago and I love it when I get the opportunity to come back. The menu is full of delicious items. It's always difficult to pick just one or a few things. Of course, I always start with the Roti. It Comes out of the kitchen quickly and it comes hot & fresh. The Curry that is served alongside is flavored perfectly. Their Bao is another good choice. I like the trio because you get fried chicken, pork belly & the Bulgogi. Ok... I hate to do this because I really like the owner, but the food (and service staff) the past few times has brought my reviews from 5 stars to 3. Our dishes (appetizers and mains) were cold, I felt like the dishes or the ingredients had been sitting out - they came out way too quickly to possibly be cooked or put together fresh. Natalie is one of the best business owners and an Ambassador of the community who is visible to her clients from the moment you walk in till you leave. Her staff seems to have dropped a notch or two, and I realize it's hard to compete for wait staff, but these are just servers- they don't take your order and I assume the tips are split... and we tip there like a regular sit down restaurant, so I expect a warm interaction, not a cold shoulder drop and run at my table especially when there are empty tables . I've made a point of bringing any guests visiting the island here because of Natalie and the fun/unique dining experience, however the food and service needs to be at least 3 stars for me to return with guests and this past few times it has not, sadly. Perhaps I'll return some time in the future, just with my wife to see if things have changed, before I bring guests. read more

This place is phenomenal. You can eat at cheap restaurants, and you can eat at good restaurants. But one of the best things in life is finding a casual dining place with good food, that could easily charge 30% more than it does. The owner is very kind as well, and while touristy Fernandina is full of out of towners, just a few streets over the locals know what's up. Don't read this if you're a tourist. P.S.
