My husband and I visited this bowling alley and restaurant expecting a fun night out, but were met with dirty tables, poor customer service, and an atmosphere that made us feel unwelcome. The tables were filthy, and when my husband asked for assistance, he was handed a towel and expected to clean the table himself. There was no greeting, no friendliness, and no effort to make us feel like valued customers. As Black customers, the way we were treated raised concerns for us. While I can only speak about our experience, I would agree that the treatment of Black patrons is suspect based on what we experienced. The attitudes, body language, lack of hospitality, and overall interaction left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. The owner's response to reviews only reinforced those concerns. Rather than showing accountability or a willingness to improve, the response seemed more focused on dismissing criticism than addressing it. If I had read a review like this before visiting, I would have taken my business elsewhere. Customers deserve a clean environment, respectful service, and management that responds professionally to concerns. Unfortunately, that was not our experience, and we will not be returning. read more

Reviewing for the volleyball dome which was super cool. Pretty affordable to rent per hour especially if you have a big group. Huge, temperature controlled space with sand and adjustable volleyball nets. We brought spikeball as well and there is plenty of space for whatever. The sand was clean and easy to maneuver on. There are picnic tables and a speaker connected to Sirius radio. If we needed help it was easy to find a staff member inside. We didn't get food from the bar but it was an option. read more

We really came for the brick oven pizza....but didn't realize it is just a walkup window. We kind of thought it was like in the bar in the bowling alley. So we laced up and bowled too! The pizza was worth the trip. The toppings were plentiful, the crust cooked to perfection and I really liked the ranch. We had the italian salad which was good but I'd probably try another one next time. We were there on a Saturday in between league times and appreciated being squeezed in on an end lane. We were able to get a couple games in at a great price. The lane scoring did malfunction a few times and that was frustrating but the employee helped us correct it right away. read more

Some friends and I bowled here on September 28, 2019. We got there around 4pm. The regular special they had going was 2 hours of bowling + shoes for $50. There were 4 of us, so this was a steal! We bowled close to 4 games in that time! They got marked down because there were already 6-7 balls on the return rack in the lane we were assigned to use. No one had put them up at the end of bowling. The tables were dirty with cups and crumbs all over the place. So that was annoying since we were going to order food. They weren't busy, at all. So I couldn't understand why someone wasn't on top of this basic housekeeping and putting balls back up. Also, it took a long time to get a pitcher of Pepsi. The girl working the counter couldn't find a pitcher. So again, annoying. Overall not a bad experience. We did have issues with the attached pizza place, but I've left a review for them as well under that business. read more

We had a birthday party here for my two sons. The bowling alley wasn't busy so they had no problem getting us two lanes at short notice. I appreciated that we were still able to get the birthday party deal. We were treated nicely and attended to the entire time. The food is always really good for bowling alley food. I'm a bowler, my family are bowlers, so bowling is a pretty common thing for me historically, but I don't do it as often now as I would like. Kingpin is one of the few bowling alleys in North County and it's a pretty solid bowling alley. I like the set-up and that each lane has an ample amount of space at the lane. 1 thing I really didn't care for is the location of the "house" balls to bowl with. They are located within the bowling lanes, so in instances when there are leagues playing, you have to disturb the bowlers in order to get a ball. Not a fan. I love Kingpin Lanes!!! I am NOT a bowler by any stretch of the imagination...as a matter of fact, I stink at it. However, during our most recent trip to St. Louis, we had a Groupon for Kingpin Lanes and we decided to redeem it during a rainy day and we had such a great time! The place itself is very clean and colorful, the shoes all looked practically new, the music that was playing was appropriate for ALL ages. The staff for both the lanes and the adjacent Brickhouse Pizza Company were so friendly they made us feel totally welcome. We bowled for a couple of hours and were really sad to leave. And as for Brickhouse Pizza Company, that was some GOOD pizza! We loved it, and we are VERY picky about pizza. We were expecting subpar bowling alley food, like we normally get in Chicago - but we got some really good thin crust pizza made with Mozzarella! This made an already awesome afternoon, even better! This place, even though it is a little far from our usual "go to" hotel, will be on our "places to visit" when we are in town. read more

I came to Kingpin Lanes for a work outing, and I really wanted to like it. I mean, it was free for me, and there was food and drink included as well. What's not to like? The staff and the facilities, right? The facilties were just fun. Nothing out of the ordinary. It's a pretty typical, maintained bowling alley. Guess you've figured where that leaves us. The staff. We had a busted lane, and when I explained what was happening to one of the staff there, one of the first things he said was "Well, usually we find these sorts of problems to be user error" with a smug look on his face. So I explained again - the computer on the lane would randomly jump to the middle of the frame, reset the pins on the second bowl of the frame, or God willing, actually work properly. He kept explaining what I already knew like I was an idiot. Yes, I understood what the problem was. What HE didn't seem to understand is that we were resetting the frame as necessary to get on track, and it kept happening. It wasn't something we were doing. It was pretty infuriating. I'd assume if you had a working lane, Kingpin Lanes would be a fine spot, but if you have to deal with some issues, don't expect much help or sympathy from the staff. read more

I wanted to start this review by saying that I have yet to actually bowl at Kingpin lanes, but it seems like if I did bowl there, I would thoroughly enjoy it. The lanes are well-lit and up-to-date with the most current technology, and the whole place is very clean and welcoming. It seems like the perfect place to bowl, whether you are with a small group or your entire extended family. I also like the fact that there were TVs everywhere with various sporting events playing, including soccer. What really makes this bowling alley unique is that in addition to having a snack bar with your traditional bowling alley fare such as nachos and hot dogs, they also have their very own pizzeria, which has it's own moniker (Brickhouse), and seems to operate independently as a business within a business, so to speak. So, how is the food at Brickhouse, you ask? I would answer that it's good enough to draw me to a bowling alley on several occasions in which I had no intention to bowl. In other words, it's very good. They have a rather extensive menu for a restaurant that operates from within a bowling alley, including a number of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and desserts, in addition to their pizza, the dough of which is made fresh daily. They seem to pay very close attention to the quality and freshness of their ingredients, and it's this attention to freshness that sets them apart from some other local pizzerias and allows them to stand on their own as a great place to eat. The sandwiches that I have tried so far are excellent. The Tuscan Chicken, made with fresh chunks of chicken, bacon pieces, provelone cheese, and barbeque sauce, was absolutely exquisite, and will definitely keep me coming back. Though I still need to come back to try their pizza. The girls who work at Brickhouse, and the people who work at Kingpin in general are all very nice and friendly, not to mention attentive and expedient. I am greeted cheerily every time I walk in there, and the girls at Brickhouse take my order promptly and make my food quickly and attentively. And the prices are very reasonable, so I will definitely be coming back to Kingpin sometime soon. Maybe next time I'll stick around long enough to bowl a few games and try their delectable-smelling pizza! So if you're in the area and have a craving for something fresh and delicious for lunch or dinner, or if you're just looking for a new place to bowl a few games after work, consider giving Kingpin lanes a shot. Had a great off-site team-building day here. Good food/drinks and looks much better (surprisingly better) on the inside....staff was attentive and put us down by ourselves so we could be a little rowdy for 11:30 in the morning.....highly recommend for a place to blow off some steam! read more

This place is fun. We have an annual trip here with work friends. Service seems mostly good. The lanes seem to play well, but I'm no expert. My friends who play bowling league had different experiences adjusting to these lanes. One liked it better than where he normally played; one didn't. Good bowling alley. It had an older feel to it which I loved for the nostalgia. They had classic Brunswick 2000 systems which they were nice enough to give a tour of. They had older rear projection score display screens which was a lovely 90s touch. The lanes showed signs of use. The bar allowed smoking which you don't see much anymore.
