It is an old historic hotel which is pretty in its old historic way. Our room was pretty and clean. The breakfast is decent, or average hotel items like pastries, yogurt, fruit. The one thing they could improve on is the evening wine and cheese hour. We had to go to the hotel next door and sat in this small room where I felt like I was at a wake. The room had no ambience at all.The cheese consisted of small cubes on a plate and you got a zip lock bag of crackers. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard, living room area or even the breakfast area would have been nicer for the wine and cheese hour. Some music would help also. Would we stay there again? Probably not

We had a great stay at the King's Courtyard Inn. It was very conveniently located for all of the things we wanted to see and do. Parking was great. Some might complain about paying a fee but there are definitely more expensive options. If you're wanting a 5 start hotel experience this might not be the place for you but you be paying for the 5 star experience out of your wallet. The wine and cheese hour in the courtyard was surprisingly nice with the breeze funneling from outside. The concierge desk was very helpful in answering a few of the questions we had. PS don't go to Golden & Associates next door

SO happy with our experience. First time in Charleston and picked this Inn based on the location. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The decor is gorgeous - definitely feels like a historic Charleston hotel. They have complimentary sherry all day and night, wine and cheese tasting every day from 5pm - 6pm AND continental breakfast offered each morning. The Inn has made our experience extremely enjoyable. Also, nice perk is they provide waterbottles in the lobby which is great for people who dont want to drink out of the tap, like me. You will not be disappointed with your stay. Will be coming back!

Best picture I have of the room. Felt very home-y

Wonderful quaint little hotel. It's in the middle of shopping in historic Charleston. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The parking is a great deal for that area. The hotel is slightly outdated but it adds to the charm of the area. You can get to any place you would want to go in Charleston by walking. We will definitely come back. Also they have a free breakfast which is very nice

The inn is adorable. Love the courtyards and homey feel. It's also central to historic Charleston, commercial shops, and restaurants. Only thing is the WiFi is horrible, and if I was on vacation it would add to the charm but it's not great for a work trip. Since I've been staying here the inn cat, who I've found out is named Miss Baby, has been my next door neighbor. There's a bunch of dog water bowls but I haven't heard any dogs. Gotta love an inn who's hospitable to all!

Hotel is true to the reviews! The best part of this hotel is definitely the location. Can walk to any place: bars, restaurants, port, market and much more. Found this hotel using the Hotel Tonight and ended up saving $100 compared to other hotels in the area. Our main desire was to be in the middle of the city. Fortunately we were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations of the small inn. Parking in the back for $14/night is charged through the hotel. Perk is you can enter and exit as many times as you would like during your stay. It is small and available to the public so I could see how others could have a problem getting in. We waited all of 2 mins and got a great spot. Considering if you drive anywhere in the city you will have to pay to park, this fee didn't concern me too much. Room was much larger than a typical chain hotel room. Loved the high ceilings and historical flair. TV was a smidge small for the room. Saw complaints of the courtyard in the middle being a noise issue. We went to bed fairly early and had no issues. Do remember to close your blinds before bed as you can see directly into rooms otherwise. The mattresses unfortunately did show their age as did the wood flooring. Though a nice size, the mattress was very very firm. Not to my liking in particular. Definitely needed more than 3 pillows for the king size bed. The wooden floors looked worn and the high ceilings and molding needed to be dusted. However, the fireplace in the room sold me on visiting Charleston in the winter. Lastly, the bathroom was interesting. Personally I wondered why the only place there was carpet in the room was in front of the bathroom. The tub had jets, all of which were pointed up. We only noticed after spraying half the bathroom floor. The bottom of the shower curtain kept me from trying the jets. Tub was very clean but a hower curtain was brown with mold; didn't exactly entice me to want to soak in that tub. For the soap snobs, the oatmeal soap bars were great. And the face wipes for makeup were also a good touch. The free bottles of water at the front desks, complementary wine and cheese tastings and sherry in the lobby sets this hotels apart from your regular Holiday Inn or Double Tree. The morning breakfast in the courtyard is a great way to start your day. Even if it's just coffee until you head to the main brunch. It's not your average continental breakfast as it is to order. Overall definitely would recommend this hotel and will be returning!

What a special experience! We celebrated our anniversary in Charleston and stayed here! They made us feel so special. They had a special note and champagne when we arrived! We had a light breakfast in bed almost every morning and really enjoyed the wine and cheese happy hour every evening. It was very walkable to many shops and restaurants, so the location was very convenient for us. Definitely would recommend!

I can believe more people haven't reviewed this place on Yelp! Fist off Excellent location, walking distance to anything worth seeing or doing. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, parking right behind the hotel, Very Historic & charming property, Pet friendly which is a big plus because i have a diabetic Pug & an old Basset Hound that has to go everywhere with me. The only down side was that the pet friendly rooms are small but your not there to sit in your room anyway!

The Kings Courtyard Inn is one of my favorite hotels in Charleston to visit. The location on King Street is perfect to be able to walk to anything on the Peninsula. The vibe and the atmosphere of the hotel is amazing and historic and it seems as soon as you step in you are visiting a Charleston from a different time and that is very cool. The size of the hotel is great as it is just big enough, but also small enough that you feel like you get individualized attention. The staff here is great and makes sure that everything is taken care of to make sure that you have the best visit. I have always had a really great experience every time I have been here and look forward to being able to return.

The nice amenities, decent gym and friendly staff are what creates the environment for a pleasant experience. Two of these were met and the friendly staff, was mostly there. . .but one sour apple truly changed the course of our stay. Even my wife, who worked once upon a time in hospitality at Kiawah Resort, was started by the interactions from The Loutrel Hotel staff member. Long story short. The daily complimentary breakfast was served. I accidentally went to place the granola lid on the yogurt, my wife told me that was the wrong lid and I went to correct. From across the room the breakfast attendant yelled, "sir that doesn't go there." Startled, I immediately removed it and placed it accordingly. I laughed it off. Moments later I went to sit my breakfast down where my drink was located. Same attendant, "you're not even sitting at the right table with your wife." Again, my error, but don't call me out twice in one morning. It's a small lobby, so many staff members overheard the interaction. Nothing was done by other management. The next morning, I walked down to look at breakfast. I saw the same attendant and said, good morning. She looked at me but wasn't pleasant in her response. Unlike the rest of her colleagues at the restaurant who are polite and kind, the same customer service I expect and provide to my customers. Breakfast offered salmon with some type of eggs or shellfish. I can't eat shellfish, allergic. So, I went to grab a biscuit at a local coffee shop and a coffee. We came back to the hotel and sat our food down. The same rude attendant came over, nudged my wife in her back and said, "you can't have this here, cross contamination." So, I left. Allowed my wife to eat her yogurt in the area. Funny enough, my wife asked where the utensils were, because every table had them. Same attendant rudely, pointed to another table for her to get them. I should have just sat down and ate my food as I didn't see any signs for "no outside food." Either way, stay somewhere else. It's unfortunate that a hotel like this allows such rudeness from a staff member. I did report this to the manager, and online but was met with more passivity. Comped two nights of valet. Honestly, it wasn't enough. I would never stay here again and it ended the trip on such a sour note.

BUT when we got to the room, after self parking at the public garage behind the hotel, we opened the door to the cutest little room. It was sized as if it was in New York City but had cute boho chic charm. It's perfectly located in the middle of everything and the walkability was what we enjoyed most. We walked to all of the best restaurants and shops once we parked, we only left the a garage once the entire time there. We loved the daily breakfast and were intentional about making it downstairs for it. The grits were absolutely delicious.
