My husband takes our kids here for the "donut experience" a few times a week (ok - maybe it's an addiction by now). The place is small, parking is plentiful and the donuts are deeeeeeelicious! The main reason I wanted to write a review is because I've been to the other local donut shops (on Treat, or in Todos Santos area) and they are super skimpy with the icings compared to King's Donuts! This is the worst selection I've seen! Only one row of donuts and the staff starts talking in Chinese to each other with an angry tone when you ask for something they don't have. I wanted an apple turn over and was treated rudely when I ask them if it was fresh! I went to Colonial Donuts on Lakeshore, much better selection and nice service towards anyone, not just Chinese, everyone should know these are The NEW OWNERS and the customer service has went way down! This has been my favorite donut place since I was a kid. Everything there is delicious and great price for the quality. However, my favorite thing about King's is the customer service. I love this place and so do my kids!! My middle daughter absolutely loves the ham cheese croissants. The donuts are amazing soft and crisp at the same time. Everything is at a very good price. I'm unclear on why this place rates so high. Last two times I stopped by here for a $1.50 small coffee I walked out with burnt old coffee that I ended up dumping out. Come on, how much profit is in a cup of coffee? You can't afford to dump an old pot, or maybe cone pour by the cup during the last slow hour or so of the day? Your girls are just hanging out doing nothing when ever I'm in there, a cone filter by the cup is what I would be serving up if I owned the shop. Yup its true I will not eat a donut from any other shop! About 6/7 years ago Concord had a Krispy Kreme shop and my husband had me try his donut and I just about threw up at how sweet and sticky it was! Nothing compairs to the donuts at Kings! While King's Donuts doesn't have any revolutionary donut creations, their donuts have by far the best flavor of any typical Concord area donut purveyors. Try the buttermilk bars or old fashioned donuts and you'll notice the exterior is just crispy enough while the interior is tender and doesn't have any artificial or chemical flavors. The very best in every single way! I've been coming here as long as I remember and for good reason. The jelly donuts are an absolute favorite and the soft and airy cake donuts are a close second. The staff are a great bunch of people and have been welcoming to my family for my whole life. They're so awesome that when I started a fundraiser selling donuts to support my high school, they offered me a discount price and threw in a free 2 dozen on top of the 3 dozen every time me or one of my classmates went picked them up in the morning. Let me tell you, we sold out every time and all the students lined up to get their fix on Fridays. I am slightly embarassed to have become a 'regular' here, according to the Yelp app. I stopped there three Saturdays in a row after my daughter's ballet class because their donuts and ham and cheese croissants are so freaking great. Quite possibly the best ham and cheese croissant I ever had. Oh, and their apple fritters are AWESOME. Bob's ain't got nothin on King's apple fritters! Slightly crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside, with lots of apples throughout. YUM. They're even good the next day. Every few months I like to treat myself to a donut breakfast. Usually I pick one up across the street from work in SF. I typically regret it shortly afterward as I get all shaky & wired from the sugar high. I didn't feel this way after eating at King's Donuts this past Saturday. The cake donuts (with sprinkles...those are my faves) are thick & cakey yet not too dense. The icing wasn't too sweet & wasn't lathered on like some places. Just decided to try this place today after doing a quick search for some yummy donuts in the Concord area. I must say, this place knows how to make a great donut! :) They were fluffy, just the right amount of sweet, and priced well. The proprietors (looked like a mom and daughter) were nice and quickly packed up my assorted 2 dozen donuts and 3 dozen donut holes (don't judge, they were for work haha) Overall a great experience and I will definitely come back next time my coworkers need a sugar fix, even though this place is a bit farther away from me than some other donut shops. As far as myself and my family is concerned, there are no better donuts in this county than Kings! They have been around for really long time, and we've compared them to others again and again. We always come back. Besides having the freshest, best tasting non-greasy donuts, they will usually perk you an extra donut or several donut holes when you buy a dozen or more. They are always friendly and smiling, and give you a sense that somehow you are family, even when it's your first time in the shop. They have become so popular now! They have a limited number of doughnuts that they make everyday. The owner told me they been selling so quick they been closing by 1pm now.
