I have used King Flowers for many years, as a former resident I trusted them and they never let me down. Something has changed and I no longer recommend them at all. Just before Christmas (December 2018) I placed 3 online flower orders, selected what I wanted, paid for them, and waited to hear from the recipients as they were all a surprise. They were supposed to be delivered by the next day. At the end of that day, I hadn't heard so I texted. Only 1 of the 3 had gotten hers. The next day, I heard from the 2nd one and to my dismay when she sent a picture, it was not even close to what I ordered at all! I call King Flowers and spoke to someone. She advised that "well we don't always go by what TeleFlorist shows, you have to phone the order in to be sure what we have." HUH? Then why have online flower ordering at all? I offered to forward a picture that was taken to show how terrible it was but she advised "well I know who did it and I'm not surprised." REALLY? Since it was past when I had wanted them, although they said they'd take another arrangement out, that person works and delivery the first time was difficult, so I said no, I'd like my money back. She said she was busy and I'd have to call back the next day about it, which I did. After time off the phone, she said they'd only refund $20 of a nearly $50 order - I wasn't happy but something was better than nothing. And nothing is what I got, my money was never refunded. I was tired of having to call them all the time during my working day so I just gave up. (I will note that the other 2 orders were accurately done and what I had ordered.) I have used King Flowers many times over the past 25 years or so, they even did funeral flowers when I buried my husband in Rockford nearly 10 years ago. So this is sad but I no longer trust a company that blatantly substitutes on placed online orders at a much lower quality and doesn't care if you are unhappy with that being done. I will not use King Flowers again - be aware that they will substitute online orders without your knowledge unless the recipient says something. Ordered flowers for Wednesday delivery, never got the flowers. Called to see what was going on. They misplaced my order for Thursday delivery. Florist said she would home deliver the flowers on Thursday until I told her my address (Roscoe). She said that wasn't possible to deliver them, too far away???? Regardless to say I was not very happy. I would think a responsible business owner would do everything in their power to appease the customer. Especially when the business made the mistake in the first place. Obviously Kings Flowers needs some lessons in customer relations. Bottom line - I will never go here again and advise against doing business here. read more

My husband and I went to this location for our wedding flowers, and since we are from Chicago we drove out to meet with them on two occasions. They were decent to work with in planning what we wanted and how we wanted it, so we were fairly comfortable with what we were getting and the price. It wasn't until the day before the wedding that the real problems occurred. At our first meeting we specified dark purple calla lilies and white roses as our flowers of choice. Other flowers could be used, but needed to be one of those colors. We gave them a swatch of the color we wanted seen in the flowers. Yet when my husband went to pick the flowers up the day before the wedding, there were numerous bouquets with pink roses in them! I wasn't with him at the time, so I called Kings and explained the problem. There was noticeable dismay in her voice, and she explained that they are "lavender" roses...unfortunately they still looked pink (a color that was nowhere in our wedding). I had my husband take them back to get them switched out, at which point they were extremely rude to him, and repeatedly said we were wrong and they were right, and he could even hear them in back talking about us and how upset they were to fix it. They did not offer any delivery or reimbursement for the flowers that were incorrect or the time we had to spend dealing with this, since my husband had to wait for them to be finished, and almost missed our rehearsal. Along with this, my bouquet's bottom was not appropriately braided with the ribbon I selected (it looked like she stopped halfway down the stems or ran out of ribbon?), and the ends were sticking out far too long. Overall, their customer service was dismal, and though the flowers did their job of being flowers (which is the only reason I gave 2 stars), I do think you can find better bouquets for the price elsewhere. Maybe their specialty is funeral arrangements, but I will not be going back. read more

Last Thursday, my mom went into King's Flowers to look into buying a birthday dish garden for me (it was supposed to be a surprise). She didn't know the man's name, but a man with a white mustache went over to help her. He kept insisting the computer was down and that he couldn't do anything to help her, but insisted on telling her all the add-ons she could purchase. My mom patiently spoke to him and asked her questions. When all was said and done, she decided not to buy anything from there. She told him thank you and went to leave. As she walked out, he said "Don't let the door hit you on the ass." Now, I know my mom and I know she is one of those people who is over-polite to customer service people because she's worked in those jobs before. So for that man to say that to her is appalling. I am really angry and upset about this. read more

I have been using King's Florists for over 25 years. I called this week to order roses for each family member to place on mom's casket this past Friday. The woman who took the order was rude, crude and just plain off-putting. A professional starts that conversation with "I would like to offer my condolences". Not her, oh no. She chose to take on a bully attitude, telling me that there would be a fee if the bucket containing the roses would be added on - completely understandable, but she could have worded it in so many ways which were not offensive and class-less. I no longer wish to conduct business with King's. This order came to over $80 and still I was treated like I was a bother and drudgery for whoever this woman was. I will call no more. No wonder - NO WONDER you business is not doing well. If you treat your customers well they remember it for a long long time. If you treat your customers poorly, they remember it for a lifetime, and bad news travels much faster than good news. I had complimented you for your good service in the past. Now I am more than willing to discourage others to avoid doing business with you. read more

I ordered a $90 sympathy arrangement for my grandmother's funeral from King's website. I received a confirmation and welcome email immediately after placing the order. The order was delivered well in advance of the visitation/funeral ceremony starting and looked exactly as depicted. The flowers were colorful, fresh and it came with the stand as I had hoped.
