This is my favorite take out Chinese food place in Carmel. Is it really five star gourmet... Probably not, but for carry out it is hard to find better. I have had a ton of their options but I normally get the steamed dumplings, general tso's chicken combo. It never disappoints, but the chicken is fried and there are only a few heads of broccoli so it can taste a bit heavy. Tonight I ordered the chicken with mala sauce combo and the fried dumplings, to try something different. It's a spicy Szechuan style chicken with veggies and mushrooms. The chicken is thinly sliced and not deep fried, so it stays light and clean tasting. It has a nice spicy profile without being unbearably hot. The combo comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Their egg rolls are crisp and tasty with plenty of vegetables and enough pork to give it flavor. The fried dumplings were a nice change of pace from our normal steamed dumplings, but I think I will keep getting the steamed dumplings. My wife always gets one of the proteins with broccoli. Whether it's shrimp, chicken or beef she always seems pretty happy with it. This may not be St. Elmo's but if you're looking for Chinese take out you won't be disappointed. read more

This restaurant is doing a great job of respecting COVID safety for customers while selling super delicious takeout food. I called ahead to order, and I was given my order number and told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. This was on Friday just after 5pm. There was a steady stream of customers there to pick up food. They were very busy, but everyyone respectfully wore masks and kept apart by waiting in their cars or outside or keeping distance while in line. When my turn to go to the window came up--they have an entire wall of plexiglass at the counter with boxes with doors on each side--for them to place the food and then close their side, then you to open your side to get it. Similarly there is a small box for placing your card or them to place your receipt. They have hand sanitizer there for after you used their pens. I had the broccoli beef and chicken with Chinese vegetables and both were very tasty. read more

Who knew recipe for Beef Chow Mein is tons of onions, one celery stick chopped- and a few slivers of some type of meat- the Menu should call it "Where's the Beef Chow Mein". Fried rice- has no resemblance to fried rice- just name it on the menu "Guess What This Is, Something with Rice". Workers are rude-no manners- dirty and filthy. Final point is portion size- even though food is resembles Chinese carry out- Full size is like 1/2 order-the 1/2 order is like you can have a sample of this- that turned out to be a blessing based on onions &celery combo and yellow rice with tiny bits of (we don't believe it was pork- looked more like rat droppings). read more

I really like King's Garden. The food is always fresh, well-prepared and delicious; the menu has all the goodies you'd expect to find at a fair price; and takeout is always timely. On a more personal level, when I returned to my hometown a year ago, I started picking up takeout to share with my mom and dad semi-regularly. It wasn't long before they recognized me and had a friendly greeting when I arrived. It made me feel welcome in my hometown again after being gone for decades. (I say "the woman" because I've ordered from here numerous times, various times of the day and night and no one else has ever taken my money and given me my order.) The service is quick. Typically, when I call in my order I'm told to give them 10 minutes and it is always ready. On rare occasions they ask for 15. I often order the Szechuan Chicken and I always enjoy it. Also, they have fantastic crab rangoon. The crab rangoon have a nice amount of filling. They aren't skimpy with it. My son orders the House Lo Mein and he asks them to make it spicy, which they do. If you live in this area of Carmel, I can recommend King's Garden for a reliable Chinese take-out. You may not be wowed, but you won't be disappointed either. read more

Ordered take out from here and was impressed. I had the sweet and sour pork combination plate that came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. They use vegetable oil which leaves even the fried food tasting fresh. The sweet and sour pork might be my favorite in Carmel. I also had crab rangoon which was also very good. Hi. I was there today, service was brilliant but food not too much.. I ordered chicken noodle soup (which was not a noddle soup) it was more soya inside , but noodle was good inside. Second dish I tried orange chicken.. so -so. The chicken was pretty old , I could taste the flour on the fried part, rice was sticky and very low quality. I would get better quality one and serve smaller portion. i got also fried little rice , it was so crispy and too dark in color. I am sorry but, sure I stick with other place. Even customer service was 5*. The table were little unorganized , and front door could use little clean to make the place more inviting. read more

Everything was good, but none was really great. The beef with vegetables was the best thing on the plate; the beef was tender, the vegetables fresh, and the portion reasonable.
