We stopped here yesterday on our way back home to NJ, and this has easily become one of our favorite restaurants in the Lewes area! We've had the chance to try several restaurants around Lewes, and while we've had some great meals, this one definitely stood out. Since we came on a Monday mid-afternoon, the atmosphere was relaxed and we never felt rushed. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and our server was excellent--pleasant, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The food was delicious! I ordered the lobster roll, while my husband had the soup and sirloin melt sandwich. My lobster roll was simple but so satisfying, with plenty of lobster salad--which, of course, is exactly what I wanted! The menu has a great variety of options, whether you're in the mood for seafood or something else, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, with TVs around if you want to catch a game while enjoying your meal. It's a little off the main stretch in Lewes, but absolutely worth finding. Great food, great service, reasonable prices, and an overall enjoyable experience. We'll definitely be back--and I'm already looking forward to another visit next summer! Highly recommend! read more

We order food to go which was prepared in a timely fashion. The sushi was surprisingly good as was the crab cake. The lobster roll was probably the worst I've ever eaten in my life, zero taste, the claw meat was chalky in a way that suggested it was frozen before, they also skimped on the bun which also tasted way too sugary Crab dip, same story. Went to this spot after a quick visit to the Lewes beach! We had a reservation for 6:15 and were seated promptly. Our server was excellent! On top of the order and timely! We ordered mussels for the appetizer which was absolutely delicious! We each got an adult beverage and the table ordered a brick oven chicken, fish tacos, grilled salmon, and the crab cake sandwich. All of us were quite pleased with our meals but my father was through the roof. He finished his entire brick oven chicken and proceeded to tell us how that was the best meal he had in a while all night! Excellent, will be back to this quaint and well located restaurant! We had a mixed experience at Striper Bites. I'd give the food 4/5 stars, and the staff was friendly and attentive (also 4/5). One challenge is that there isn't much nearby parking, which was difficult for someone in our party with a disability. The biggest issue, though, was the noise level. We were seated in the room with the boats hanging from the ceiling, and it was so loud that we couldn't hear one another across the table. We ended up cutting dinner short and asking for the check because conversation just wasn't possible. I even left with a headache. If the restaurant reads these reviews, please consider some acoustic adjustments or noise-dampening in that room. The common theme in many of the reviews for Striper Bites is "...it's a favorite of the locals..." Lewes, DE is one of my favorite places for quick weekend trips, and after visiting Striper Bites quite often, not only is this place a favorite of the locals, but for us "tourists" also. Located in the quaint downtown, Striper Bites pays homage to Lewes' history as a former Dutch whaling and port city with nautical themed decor. Large wooden barrels, ship steering wheels, mounted fish and nets adorn the walls and accent the dark wooden furniture and color palette. There is a diverse menu, but when I'm in town with friends and family...I keep it simple. I'll usually start with one of the many beers on draft; check the chalkboard for what's on tap from the ever changing selection. The crab dip is an AMAZING appetizer. Chunks of crab meat are mixed in with cheese, given a quick bake, and served with buttered toast points. Great for sharing. You can also ask for additional pieces of bread (which I usually do) to sop up any residual dip. The bistro burger is nothing fancy...but everything a good pub style burger should be. A well seasoned angus beef patty is grilled is topped with aged white cheddar, bacon jam, house sauce, arugula, and nestled in a briche bun. The side of fries are also nice and crispy. Honestly, I've had the fish and chips, the fried shrimp, and other seafood dishes, and no suprise, it's all good. Service is always friendly, but not always as "prompt" when it gets busy - which in the summer during the high tourist season - but that's to be understood. Cute seafood restaurant right on the water. I found the experience very much like one I could expect in New England. The food backs it up as well. Once I saw shrimp and grits on the menu, I immediately zeroed in on that. I love shrimp and grits going back to my Winchester days. Succulent shrimp, cheesy grits, and a nice porky meat to give it extra character. Here they use chorizo. But ham or bacon are good options as well. I also like that they give you eight big pieces of shrimp. Not like other restaurants that only give you two or four prawns and call it a day. The crab bisque is good too. A tasty soup that works well this time of year. Even though it was cold the first go around, the second one tasted hot and fresh. Of course it would taste good. The Delmarva region is abundant in crabs. Just as I would expect a clam chowder to taste great in New England or Manhattan. One thing to nitpick, it should come with oyster crackers, not saltines. They work better when it comes to a bisque or a chowder. Besides that, I have little to complain about. read more

My wife and I were in Lewes for the weekend. We hadn't been to Striper Bites for awhile so we decided to visit. We had a great waiter. He was efficient, helpful and fast with both our drink order and food. We decided to try the whole chicken and side (waiter allowed us to do a split side order of collard greens and brussel sprouts). Chicken was very tender. Quantity was significant enough that I had enough left over for a lunch the next day. We'll be back for this special deal ($39) and to experience the wonderful drinks and ambiance. read more

Need More crab in crab bisque they put a tablespoon of crabmeat on a bowl of white cream soup. Edamame was just soggy steamed with a handful of salt sprinkled on top. Sangria was iced white wine with an orange slice when menu describes seasonal fruit and peach schnapps and granmarnier sent it back got the same now watered done glass of wine with a dash of peach schnapps added 10 minutes later. We were greeted immediately by the hostess who was friendly and polite. She told us there would be a 20 minute wait so we found a spot at the bar and ordered drinks. The place is cute, it also has outdoor seating which I wish we could have chosen; because it was really loud inside. The food was good, but pricey. We had the whipped ricotta with honey as an appetizer and salmon as our entree's. Maybe our server was having an off day, but her attitude towards us just didn't make me feel welcomed. She did her job, it just wasn't warm and fuzzy. Overall, I would give it a second chance, but maybe for just drinks and an appetizer at the bar. read more

I really want to like this place; I loved the feel of it. The booths were cozy and the place had a good feel. I want to be consistent in my reviews and I will be back to try other dishes. We had starters, seared tuna ( I feel it needed more seasoned), maple goat cheese salad ( found this to be on the sweet side) pears, grapes, dried cherries, toffee pecans and a maple walnut dressing. We also had a Caesar as well. Entrees had a couple of sushi rolls, firecrackers and the dragon roll, a Caesar with grilled chicken and a couple of filet specials. They were cooked to temp but lacked seasoning and a good beef flavor. For the price it was fine but was expecting more. That's why I'll be back and try something else. We washed it down with a couple of Juggernaut Cabernets. Service was fine but wasn't sure why it wasn't busier. read more

SKIP!! The food that did come out was beyond bland. There was no seasoning in any of our meals. We ordered the crab dip, oysters, lobster roll and the lewes style MP. The crab dip and oysters didn't make it to our table, can't speak to the quality. We just sat there for over 30 minutes, while other parties were served. Waiter looked all surprised that we didn't get our meals. The lobster roll only looks appealing in pictures. The fish had a lot of bones left after being it being fillet. I ordered the shrimp and grits, uh oh. Looks like no other dish of the same name I have ever had. Just a mashup of chorizo cheesy sauce covering a bed of grits. Shrimp arranged on the side. My wife got one of the rolls which was dry and seemed like it was prepped sometime in the past. Just not fresh tasting, disappointing. Incredible sushi roll! I'm always very weary ordering sushi at spots that serve other types of food but this was actually one of the best I've had in years. The crab cakes where incredible as well. My friend called it stripper bites and now I can't unhear it Stripper bites was fine, I shared the crab dip and the seafood linguine stew with a friend. Okay the crab dip was SO DELICIOUS, honestly very salty but a really good amount of crab!!! Scrumptious tbh but you should definitely ask for extra bread when you order bc 5 pieces was not enough. I would skip the seafood stew though, the broth was weak, and the seafood kinda weak tbh, but the shrimp were good, I bet their other shrimp dishes are delicious read more

Just another failed Atlas Restaurant Group takeover, Striper Bites failed at nearly everything we ordered as a party of 4. My fish and chips was moist but undercooked and not as crispy as I would have preferred. My wife's Poke bowl was a joke, it wasn't a poke bowl at all. It was warm, completely unseasoned ahi tuna crammed into a small bowl with the other unmixed ingredients. No sesame oil, no Hawaiian salt, no soy sauce (really?) and no wasabi. And it was so jammed into a smallish bowl, there was no way it could be mixed well at the table. It was the worst imaginable rendition of a poke bowl. Our dining companion ordered the Rockfish ($34). It was a nice piece of fish but the skin was flabby with no attempt by the kitchen to crisp the skin,which is a must. Our Striper Bites special salad was ordered with dressing on the side; it arrived completely saturated in an overly-sweet vinaigrette and was inedible. A sushi roll appetizer was slathered in a sticky sweet sauce that did not resemble Japanese sushi. I will concede that one of our companions enjoyed the hot honey chicken sandwich, but it was not remotely enough to save the meal for the other three of us. One and done. The server was attentive. Bottom Line: Seafood and American fare served in a comfortable, coastal-inspired restaurant. My husband and I went to Striper Bites for a late Saturday lunch in March. The restaurant was mostly empty so it made for a pleasently quiet lunch and we enjoyed the casual sea-side decor including charming interior windows. We started with the Lewes Beach Bruschetta which was the most delicious bruschetta I've ever had and it was also beautifully presented. The bruschetta had roasted squash on it so I was worried it might be a tad bitter but nope, it was excellent and for a moment I debated ordering a second one for my lunch. However, ultimately I decided to get the steamed shrimp appetizer and soup of the day for lunch. The soup of the day was a creamy sausage soup and at $10 I thought it was pricey. For $10 I suspect the crab bisque would have been a better pick. Anyway, the steamed shrimp were perfectly cooked. My husband had the Striper Bites club which featured Mahi and bacon and he loved every single bite. Overall service was pretty good and we had a relaxing experience. We were able to get a parking spot in the public lot across the way which was convenient. I would definitely return and try some more menu items and order the Bruschetta again. read more

We visited Striper Bites with another couple to have a relaxed meal after a day out on the boat. We were seated in the bar section and about 10 times during our meal the bar tender through bottles into a container that made a very loud crashing sound. We told our server about it and asked to speak with a manager about it, but they didn't bother. My wife and I have dined there frequently, however tonight will be the last time. All of us jumped every time a bottle was thrown in the trash. I suggest you replace your bartender that has a little respect for the customers you serve. Not happy. read more

Ended up being a good option for a group of 8 trying to find a place in Lewes for a late lunch. I was expecting a huge wait but our timing was good and we were seated within about 20 minutes. We all shared two plates of the Seared Tuna Bites for $14. They were fantastic. Sesame crusted seared tuna on fried wonton triangles drizzled with mayo/soy. They were so good. If they had an entree version, I'd order them for my main meal. There was a lot of sharing because it was our first time there. Selections included the Bistro Burger for $16 and it included bacon jam, cheese, and arugula. Everyone who got it loved it. One person ordered the Mediterranean Wrap for $14. They said it was very good but nothing unique. One person ordered the Fried Rockfish Burrito for $15 and thought it was really good. Very filling, too. Another person ordered the signature club and it was tasty for $16. Everything we had was good. The seared tuna bites were excellent. Pretty typical beach-friendly bar food. Prices were decent for the location. No space for desserts after the starter, mains, and drinks. I love crab bisque and I saw it being eaten at several tables so that's on my list of things to try the next time I go. Same goes for the brussels sprouts starter. It looked amazing. Nice place to have lunch with the dogs in downtown Lewes . The wife and I split an order of the fried brussel sprouts, I had the rockfish burrito. The wife opted for the steamed shrimp and cream of crab soup. Everything tasted great, and Service was great, they even brought water for the dogs. And the Cold beer was very refreshing. read more

Sadly not a good experience at all..... we used to go to Striper Bites frequently, then stopped during covid. Looking for somewhere different my 2 friends and I decided to try for lunch today. The Good- a lovely hostess who seated us promptly. The waiter brought us water right away. The shrimp my friends got on their salads was good but very pricey. ! That's the good. We all ordered salads, 2 of us the New Burrata salad and one the House salad. The description of the Burrata salad is below. Sounds great be right ? NEW! BURRATA SALAD 15 Burrata cheese, arugula, strawberries, blueberries, roasted sunflower seeds, strawberry balsamic, cracked black pepper The salad was tasteless. The Arugula was not fresh, the Burrata was flavorless, there were 2 slices of strawberries, 2 blueberries, we couldn't see roasted sunflower seeds, the dressing was flavorless, and there was no discernible pepper. We had to get up to find waiter and ask for more dressing hoping that would help. It didn't. Same for the house salad. Flavorless. No one ever checked back, asked if the food was to our liking. We asked for the check, the waiter asked if we wanted to go boxes and we declined- a great time to ask if the meal was to our liking. Never happened. The check with tip was $27 per person, when we split the check 3 ways, for a really lousy salad and water. Sorry - I never write such negative reviews, but this was terrible. The restaurant was not busy- no excuse for this. We won't be going back. read more
