Went to King's on a Tuesday while killing time on the westside. What a warm and welcoming place! I had a veggie plate and my friend had the lamb. It was very good. The couple that run the place are so sweet and we loved supporting them and trying Egyptian food. It is in a low-key part of town with easy parking right in front and next to a shaved ice place. Portions are so nice you could probably split a plate and a greek salad with a friend if you're not too hungry. read more

Really pains me to write this and hopefully they just had a really off day but this could be the worst greek food i ever had. . 5 stars for service, Mom and Pop really nice people and great service but the food was so bland. My family and l have been going here since l was pregnant with my last child, who just turned 31, and this is still our go to spot for Middle Eastern food. About a year ago we panicked bc we drove by and it was closed! Thankfully we found out that they just moved next door. The couple who are the owners are super sweet and kind, and the food is always fresh and tasty. My husband was from West Africa and was super picky about shawarma. Went to King's Cafe again recently. By far the best Egyptian restaurant in Culver City. The owners are the nicest people, very sweet and helpful. Excellent gyros and great falafels as usual. Customer service rude, I called to verify the business hours and I got the voicemail left a voicemail. They returned my phone call but did not say nothing just hung up the phone so I decided to call back. They sent me to the voicemail unprofessional once again, and I left it on the voicemail stating that it was unprofessional so they decided to send a text message stating that they will call the police and I stated that I will call the business bureau! Since you have a business, it's the way you conduct your business. Now you can't just act ghetto you have to act professional. But you won't get my money and I have money to spend. And I let my other fellow workers know about this spot. The owners are also some of the nicest people I've met. They gave me a baklava just to enjoy with my meal. If you want to feel like you got robbed, come to eat at this joke of a place. I ordered the falafel "plate" and all i got was 6 small tator tot sized mediocre tasting falafel. You could've fooled me with the Trader Joes frozen falafel. I got no rice, no salad and just got 2 small container of hummus and some other questionable sauce. This was a SIDE of falafel not a plate but charged you a plate which was 14$! I dont like to write a bad review but im just warning you. Also the owner was not very welcoming. I had been craving a gyro for a while, living in South La there are not a lot of places that fit the bill. I looked up this one and decided to take the drive to Culver City and I'm glad I did. This is a mom and pop restaurant with only a few items on the menu but one of them happened to be the gyro sandwich. This gyro was life-changing. I found myself in the vicinity after a disappointing day of trying to patch a tire which led me across West LA to a tire shop down the street. I was hangry and disillusioned with the state of my day, which quickly went to waste quickly in the midst of my complications. This gyro sandwich is the redeeming factor of the past four hours of my existence. When I entered, I was confused by the lack of prices, menus, and... people. There was an older woman who met me with a warm smile and welcomed me in as if I were her own grandson. She quickly took my order, which left me gobsmacked when I saw that this, unbeforeseen-at-that-moment mystery gyro, would only cost a mere 11 dollars, including tax and a 20% tip. The woman quickly got to work and I witnessed her prepare my gyro with care and intention, shaving it carefully off the spit and garnishing it with a superb amount of toppings and delectable sauce. The gyro was fresh, tender, and satisfied my hangriness and impatience with ease. This is the definition of comfort food. The gyro was served on a random cutesy plate which completed the developing hole-in-the-wall restaurant discovery saga for me. I inhaled the sandwich so quickly it must have startled the woman. On the way out I thanked her for my meal, dropped my dishes off, and she told me: "have a wonderful night, until next time ." An excellent meal was had here by me and the BF. It is owned by a sweet husband and wife and the wife took good care of us. I got the chicken gyro for $10.99 which was delicious and she was not cheap about the tzatziki sauce and asked if we wanted extra, when does that ever happen? Answer, never! Double and triple bonus that the meat is seasoned so well. Boyfriend got the beef and the lamb plate and it was divine. The meat melts in your mouth and it came with a massive Greek salad. It was soo good. I will get that next time too (minus the onions). $14.99. They also told me, as someone with garlic sensitivity, to avoid the hummus and the chicken kabobs. I can do that! So we went back tonight to make sure that it wasn't an "accident" and sure enough it wasn't! Great stuff - and my wife is Greek and she's an expert. Omar is an incredible host, mamma and Pappa makes you feel like a family. I noticed they have a lot of recurring customers that interact like a family. My gf ordered the chicken kabob and got served 5 pieces of grilled chicken and a bit less than 2 cups of red mushy rice. I've had Mediterranean food before, and never have I had red mushy rice. The flavor is of tomato sauce/paste and no salt at all! The chicken was bland as well. She only had one piece of chicken and left the rest behind.
