I recently tried Egyptian food for the first time while I was in Canada and loved it. So when I got back to LA, one of the first things I did was look for a local spot. I was excited to find Tut's Egyptian Cuisine nearby. We sat on the patio, and the propane heater definitely came in handy since it was a little chilly. I ordered the Koshari since that's what I had before and really enjoyed. Unfortunately, this one didn't hit the same. Instead of being full of flavor, it mostly tasted like pasta with a pretty bland tomato sauce. It was disappointing. I'm giving this place two stars because not everything was bad, but my main dish was disappointing. The pros: we had the entire restaurant to ourselves, prices were very affordable, and the shrimp bowl with rice and veggies was actually pretty good. The chicken shawarma was decent, though nothing really stood out. Unfortunately, the koshari -- Egypt's national comfort dish -- fell flat. Two of us ordered it and it tasted bland, like everything was just thrown together. The dish relied heavily on the sauces, but the spicy tomato sauce actually made it worse, and the garlic sauce lacked depth. We came in the early evening and although the outdoor seating was empty, the inside was very busy because people wanted to watch the game so if you want a nice peaceful setting with a good balance you can eat and watch the game here! We waited a little while for our food but the food was yummy and we paid attention to the detail, there was a lot of flavor and love put into the food and it was worth the short wait time. Overall we appreciated the food and service and the quality was definitely there as well as quantity. The prices were reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. Great and affordable meal! It was my first time trying Egyptian food and I really enjoyed it. My favorite dishes were the ful medames and the koshari. The koshari is the national dish of Egypt, and consists of rice, macaroni, and chickpeas, covered in a tomato sauce with crispy onions. It is delicious and will definitely fill you up. The grape leaves are a great bite-sized appetizer to have. And in general, all of the dishes were quite good. Plus, the food is really cheap. I came here for a week night dinner and my experience here was pretty decent. My friend and I split the two person family meal deal with chicken kabab and gyro. The portion size was pretty big and it was a really good deal for $29! There was a lot of meat which I appreciated, but the meat to rice ratio portion was off. There was more meat than rice and I wasn't able to eat much of the meat with rice. The chicken kabab was solid, it was juicy and flavorful. However, the gyro meat was overcooked and crispy. It wasn't the most enjoyable. We notified the server about it and they offered to remake it which we appreciated, but we declined since we were pretty much done with the meal. The meal also came with hummus, pita bread, sauces, and some roasted vegetables (which I wish there was more of). The other sides were pretty good as well. The interior was good, it was reminiscent of a mom n pop shop. It was pretty clean as well. The service was good too. For parking, there's metered street parking outside. Overall, a decent experience here. Despite the overcooked gyro meat, I would come back because the prices are so good, especially for West LA. At this point, I've had both breakfast and dinner here and all I can say is, sensational. I got the plate combo with beef shawarma and gyro (which totaled at about $20). It was so dang tasty. The meats(really everything) were well seasoned and the portion was huge. For breakfast I got the Shakshuka(Normally only $14, but i got an extra egg) and again, perfectly seasoned and a good portion. I visited Tut's Egyptian Cuisine after working in Venice and wanting to avoid the endless drive back to the Valley during rush hour. I searched for Middle Eastern food, and Tut's came up. I ordered the combo plate with kofta and chicken shawarma, which came with salad and hummus, as well as sauces - one of them their green spicy. I also ordered a side order of falafel. The meats were delicious, the falafels among the best I've had, and the sauces, especially the green spicy, were excellent. This was my first time trying Tuts. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma plate and it was decent. The portion fairly large and the flavors were decent. The chicken was not the traditional Shawarma meat. Not sure how they cook it but it was definitely a different taste than I'm accustomed to. To be quite frank, I've had much better Shawarma. It's definitely an acquired taste. I've been going to this restaurant for quite a while and the food is at a reasonable price. It is under new management, but still the same owners. My cousin were visiting from San Diego yesterday, and I was trying to figure out a place to take them for a late lunch/early dinner when I remembered Tut's. When we arrived, I could see things had changed a bit, but things look nice and clean and we had a seat. We were immediately greeted. We ordered chicken kebabs for two and my cousin's husband ordered beef and chicken Shawarma. Everything was delicious and fresh, especially the cucumber salad, the hummus and tahini. You can't beat the price point compared to other Mediterranean restaurants and the portions are huge. We had tons of leftovers. The rice is seasoned just perfectly and they have an amazing spicy green sauce that I would highly recommend saying yes to on the side. There's a few Mediterranean places in the neighborhood I know of and Tut's is one of them that knows how to season their meats well. The others use little to nothing beyond salt and pepper. The service is okay. The lady that works behind the counter is very friendly and very nice. She always asks me if I need spicy sauce or utensils. The ambiance is looking very mundane. I suggest sprucing the dining area up and making it more aesthetically pleasing. Add artwork, new tables and chairs, plants, etc... I bet you will have more customers dining in than taking their orders to go. My 1 star deduction is for the pricing. I know we live in an inflation period and prices are staggering, but it doesn't any make sense to pay the same price with tax and tip for a chicken kabob plate if you use the delivery apps or go and pick it up personally at the restaurant. The order should cost less if you pick it up personally. Above all else, good food but it needs to fix things to thrive because this establishment has high potential to becoming more successful than it already is. read more

I ordered pickup for lunch via their website and saw a crazy lunch special. 10 bucks and change for a lavash wrap with meat of your choice and all the fixins- pickles, sumac onions, parsley, garlic sauce, and fries inside, plus a side and drink. I was wondering if for that price maybe it would be some kind of mini version of the regularly priced option but it was not! It was delicious and was everything I could have hoped for. I got the house salad as the side which sounds like an uninspired heap of lettuce but is actually a pint of super fresh cucumber tomato onion parsley salad. I added on an order of garlic fries with feta added and oh em geee some of the best fries I've ever had! I also got some desserts which I am too full to try now but they look delicious. There were lots of desserts displayed in the case in the front of the store and all looked delicious. As I mentioned I ordered for pickup and it was early (11:30) and the place was completely empty. I did notice it was very clean and was I was impressed. Tbh from the outside I wasn't sure what to expect as it's not the most polished looking when you walk up.
