Just a lot of fun for all ages. Great quality artists to shop from. The food was good and loved the beautiful scenery. Local EMS is very attentive if you need their help. Didn't get to see everything booth, but it was highly enjoyable and we did make a few purchases. Looking forward to next year's event. There are ATMs on site and vendors have e pay options. Dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes.

Beautiful art on display in a beautiful redwood forest on a beautiful day. It doesn't get much better than this.

Enjoying a beautiful Sunday morning at the Kings Mountain Art Fair where over 200 very talented and diversified artists are displaying some of the most creative works I've seen. That this art show is held in a redwood forest and many artists use recycled products makes it all the better. That they sell cookies the size of frisbees with proceeds going to the local fire department and schools makes this a class act. Come early (by 10am) as parking can be a problem... but they offset that with shuttle service.

Probably the BEST art festival in California... We hit up ALL of the art fairs and open studio events in the bay area. This one, for us anyway, beats them all. I called it, "art without walls"... It's set in the wonderful redwoods of Woodside, at the Kings Mountain location. See the pics that have been posted of this year and past events. It's beautiful, and well organized (this year anyway). We were lucky enough to find parking very close by, but there are shuttle trolleys that pick people up from both directions going to and from the event. There are a whole lot of artists here, with all kinds of medium. The atmosphere is so relaxing, and the artists are extremely nice and easy to talk with. We picked up a couple pieces and are very happy with them. There are a good number of portable restrooms that were being very well maintained throughout the day. There is also a mini food court area which also was being exceptionally well run. Lot's of long picnic tables to sit at too. All in all, it really is well done!

The 2017 edition of the King's Mountain Art Fair was unusual for the heat, which led organizers to install misting stations in several spots to cool off tired visitors, but otherwise it was more of the same: good food and drink, a worthy cause, great art, and towering trees. This combination of community, consumables, craftsmanship, and calming nature is pretty unbeatable, and the 3-day Labor Day holiday is well suited to the event, which is more than a little disruptive to the regular flows of weekend traffic on Skyline Boulevard. Parking on the side of the highway slows things down, while the open-air shuttle buses trundle between parking lots otherwise filled with hikers and trail runners intent on exploring Purisima Creek Redwood Open Space Preserve, one of the premier spots on the Peninsula for outdoor adventure. The artwork ranges from photography, painting, and outdoor sculpture to things like hand-woven rugs, glass and metal collectibles, jewelry, hats, clothing, and other household items (even brooms). An excellent craft beer selection (IPA, pilsner, Maerzen, even a Doppelbock) and wine from J. Lohr (Cabernet, Pinot, Chardonnay) complimented the food and drink options suitable for families with kids as well as older guests. Much of the pleasure of the art fair is strolling through the redwoods on gently rolling terrain (occasionally a bit steeper), enjoying the beautiful things and playing a small part in an annual local fundraiser designed to support the volunteer fire department that is based here as well as a local elementary school. It's a bit of a break before the storms of fall and winter, and a chance to celebrate a 3-day weekend by doing something quirky, diverting, and fun. Sure, you could celebrate Labor Day with a new mattress or automobile, or countless other online sales deals. But in an age on online retail and free delivery shipping, there is something deliciously subversive about strolling through booths with wonderful artwork shaded by real-life redwoods that grow in quiet splendor above the likes of Facebook and Google in the valley down below. And if you like your first taste of the area, you can always return on another weekend to go hiking in Purisima or trail running in Huddart Park. Or go cycling on King's Mountain Road. While the Kings Mountain Air Fair comes but once a year, the redwoods, the hiking trails, and the winding mountain roads, they are here longer term and don't mind the occasional visitor. Keep this special event in mind the next time you're planning a Labor Day weekend and want to do something more than BBQ in the backyard!

I will never be able to happily attend a street fair again after attending the Kings Mountain Art Fair. Set in the Redwood Forests up on Skyline Boulevard, the atmosphere here felt so magical that you almost expected pixies and fairies to emerge and join in the fun. Held annually during Labor Day weekend, the festival features fine artists from the West Coast, great food (including a variety of gigantic cookies sold by the elementary school) and a nice sized kid activity area where the littles one can read, create and hang out in a tee pee. Proceeds benefit the Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade and elementary school. Take note: Wear good walking shoes because much of the festival is sloped and all of it is scattered throughout the forest. Bring a sweatshirt as well, it can get chilly in such a lush Redwood forest! Parking is challenging! Most of the parking is along the sides of Skyline, a two-lane winding road frequented by bicyclists and motor cyclists. It can be a little awkward for cars and pedestrians to co-mingle. Please make sure that you wedge your car completely over the white line at the shoulder when parking and keep little ones close as you walk. While most drivers negotiating the area of the festival do so with great care, it only takes one careless moment for a fun outing to turn tragic! The Kings Mountain Art Fair is always a good one -- art fairs in general are usually fun to walk around, but the location for this one really is unbeatable, with vendors scattered along pathways through the stunning redwood forest that the woodsy part of the aptly named town of Woodside is famous for. Proceeds go to the Kings Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade who keep the residents of the area safe -- in turn all of the volunteers for the art fair are area residents, so it's really a nice community affair with a lot of local flair. The fair always takes place on Labor Day weekend, and the weather tends to be pretty nice most years, but the most recent fair was a bit cold and drippy from the fog the first day, with things warming up after that. Even a cold fair is still gorgeous, and the fog and morning sunlight makes for just about the most beautiful scene you can imagine, with the sun rays bursting through the foggy forest in a Lord of the Rings type display....just gorgeous. You'll find a pretty wide assortment of artists including both locals and some from pretty far-flung areas -- I saw one jewelry vendor from my home-base of Florida. Some of my favorite artists and artisans from this most recent fair: Karl Schroen, a knife maker from Sebastopol, CA....exquisite knives and a long-time fair participant; Shawn Tsai from Orange County - some of the most amazing glass work you'll ever see...amazingly detailed works...I'd love to get one of his lionfish glass sculptures; Kathleen Alexander from Hawaii...masterful watercolor paintings - picked up a few smaller prints at the fair and they are beautiful! One big tip for visiting the art fair is to arrive EARLY. There are no big parking lots, so you're going to be competing for roadside parking along Skyline Blvd, and the nearby spots fill up fast. There is a free trolley shuttle that makes life easy if you end up parking a mile away, but you'll keep the stress of finding a good spot down by beating the crowds. If you're coming from Hwy. 92, traffic tends to back up on the weekends, so that's another reason to get there early!

My first time. They serve a delicious fresh cooked breakfast (eggs and pancakes) @8am. The art festival opened @10am. It's located in a beautiful redwood forest setting. It's well organized. There's road side shoulder parking and parking lot with a shuttle trolley. The outdoor port-a-potties were the cleanest I've ever seen and they service them periodically. Cute outdoor sinks. Caution: lots of traffic.
