My son and family live here in Half Moon Bay. When they moved here a few years ago I was delighted. I have loved this quirky and beautiful little beach town since I was a young man. Spanish town is one of our favorite restaurants in the old downtown. If you think the town is quirky, wait in till you see this little gem. It just feels comfortable being inside. The covered patio in the back is where our favorite table is. I always order the goat. It is spicy and slow simmered and fabulous. All of the other dishes are equally made authentically, and like your momma made it. The service is friendly, professional and fast. They have a off street parking in the back. Our waiter Louis was professional and kind. Such a wonderful experience.. We go to Punta Mita Mexico every year and experience lovely service and kind hosts., Tonight we felt as though we were transported back to Mexico. The Music, Decor and Food were a delight. The owner Edwardo was enjoying a visit with some locals .. We also had the delightful opportunity to visit with him and later after our truly authentic Mexican Dinner , he treated us to a lovely Pumpkin Flan. It just melted on the palate. Fun and crazy sculptors! A must as your driving by. You don't even need to go into the store (but I recommend you do), simply stop by and explore the many dinosaur sculptors outside. If you do venture in.... you'll see countless planter pots and fountains for your home. Because of the dinosaurs, this place made me think of Pee-wee's big adventure!! lol read more

Hey look, dinosaurs! And unlike in Jurassic World, they're not going to eat me. Spanish Town is a fun place to check out on the way to Half Moon Bay. You'll know you've found it when you see the huge dinosaur statues to the side of the road. This place has rows and rows of fountains, statues, pots, stone patio furniture, birdbaths and more. It's amazing how much inventory they have out here! There are also some shops here selling more decorations, trinkets and other works of art. Definitely worth stopping by if only to peruse and marvel. Be warned that traffic on San Mateo Road (Highway 92) is incessant. When you're heading in the direction of Half Moon Bay, you have to make a left to get into the parking lot at Spanish Town, and a left to get out. You may have to wait a few minutes for that rare opening in traffic. read more

There's lots of businesses and artists in Spanish Town but the big draw is Fabbri Statuary. If you've ever driven down this road you've surely seen the giant metal dinosaurs here. I know I've been driving by at least once a week for the past 3 years and only recently stopped to check them out. Turns out, there's a whole world of thousands of rad statues beyond the gates plus a garden store, nature photographer, and other various artist if you're in the market. It's free to come and check out all the statues and while you're here you should give the other vendors a gander as well. You never know what you'll find. read more

We were cruising down 92 and we came across these huge dinosaur sculptures. My son was very excited, so after taking the dog to the beach, we stopped by Spanishtown on the way back. We weren't quite sure what would be inside. Some of the stores aren't the best place for a grabby toddler, but my husband and I found lots of interesting things for ourselves in the stores within: the Nepali store had pretty pendants and other beautiful and exotic items, the antique store had boats and birds that could make fun gifts, and the home and garden place had an amazing inventory of cool things (statues, fountains, furniture, pottery). read more

Inside the most amazing mexican hand painted pottery & art for your home. DINOSAUR WONDERLAND! Wooooooooo! *ehem* Well, now that I got that out of my system... DINOSAURS! Yey! Okay, now really. DINOSAURS! That's all there is to say. Well, maybe not. Let's talk about the dinosaurs! You can't miss them. They line the highway in front of the shop. If you're going to or coming from Half Moon Bay, this stop is definitely worth it. You can take pictures of you, the kids, the friends, with giant metalwork dinosaurs. It's pretty awesome. But if you're a weirdo and don't love dinosaurs, you might still find some great treasures in this place. Outside, there are HUNDREDS of sculptures, fountains, furnishings, and decorations for the yard and patio. It is all laid about in a pretty helter skelter fashion. But I imagine it's almost impossible to keep all of that stuff well organized. You might see a goofy bull dog statue next to a gorgeous huge fountain with two angels dancing around it. The fountains are not cheap, but they are also reasonably prices for what they are. Inside the store is a maze of small shops, each owned by a different vendor, with very different themes. One shop is buddhist/ eastern Indian themed. Another has handmade goods (many of which are felted) and a plethora of jewelry. My fella' got me the perfect "hippie bag" from here. I love it! Towards the back of the shops is a large pottery shop. These are Mexican pots, so many of them have traditional Mexican themes: brightly colored flowers, many Dia de los Muertos sculptures. Various shapes and sizes of plant pots. Metalwork figurines, including motorcycles and figures posed in dance. I found the merchandise in this room to be on the high end of affordable, but such is life. This really is a great place to stretch the legs if you're on a road trip and want to pick up some gifts or goods. They also have a beautiful white shepherd named Loki who will greet you at the door. He's a doll! Oh, and did I mention the dinosaurs...? read more

I felt like Alice in wonderland when I stopped by this place...or maybe a woodland nymph ...anyways, it was a truly whimsical experience when I least expected it. What an amazing collection of fountains, gazebos, statues....I was skipping around oooing and ahhing completly enchanted by the beautiful furniture/garden decor. I didn't see one knome there. yay. I also stopped by Maya Devi Imports, a shop within Spanishtown, and fell in love with the most beautiful necklace....I just had to buy it...and so I did. I can't wait to go back. I have my eye on a few other things that I absolutley must have at the sailing/sea shop. I still don't understand the rusty dinos though. read more

This place is a gold mine! It's so cool! The main attraction and the thing that gets you off bizi San Mateo Rd is the big rusty tin dinosaurs that beckon you into the parking lot. As you go further into the bowels of the property other surprises and delights are revealed. We met a guy that was born in Stockton our home town. He's relocated to HMB and has a cute lil' shop filled with trinkets that remind you of the sea and your time spent in HMB; we did not leave empty handed. Then there's this place filled with statuary, marble and granite patio tables, amazingly huge pottery and garden goodies, fountains, just about anything you'd need to bring your outdoor space to the next level. If you need a photo op for the kids or just the hubs, you'll find it here among the large and beautiful dinosaurs. Stop for the kids, stop for yourself; but really, just stop! read more

Years. That is how long we've driven by this place & never stopped. Finally, we decided to stop and see what was up with these huge dinosaurs in Half Moon Bay! What a nice stop it was. After taking photos of the big metal dinosaurs out along the road, we walked thru the rest of the shops. We especially enjoyed the outdoor area. Lovely! Full of statuary, pots, outdoor artwork, benches, and all kinds of fountains. There were a few tables & chairs out under a patio, which was filled with people, so I'm not sure if they were just taking a break from the road, or if there was a party going on. No one was around to ask questions of. Prices seemed pretty high out in the outdoor area. There is one communal bathroom for all the shops, that needed a good cleaning. As we walked thru the different shops we were not greeted by any store owners which seemed very odd...maybe they were the ones out partying in the garden area! All in all, a nice place to stop and shop...or just walk thru to see lots of interesting items. read more

Small, interesting and personable shops if you are looking for something different. I try to swing by when I am on my way home from HMB just to stop in and see what's new. Most of the shopkeepers are so friendly, and there's always something new and interesting to check out. My favorite shops are Half Moon for interesting antiques and jewelry, and Maya Devi, for wonderful imports from Nepal. It's definitely a great place to buy gifts (for me and others)! read more

So many things to see at Spanish Town. The main attraction is the vast variety of garden statuary, fountains and pottery, all arranged by your style of decor. Inside was perhaps the largest selection of Mexican Talavera pottery I had every seen. If you can't find something for your yard here, you're just too darn picky. read more

Funky and fearsomely cool, you need to see what is hidden behind the dinosaur and woolly mammoth sculptures. Spanishtown awaits. It is a global tour de force of water fountains, furniture, vases, garden ornaments, clothes, jewelery, kids toys, and lots of hidden secrets for young and old to explore. Like most other people who wrote a review for this place, I've always driven by here and wondered what the hell was up with all those rusty metal dinosaurs! There are about 3 or 4 lovely little stores in Spanishtown, one of them is a store that sells the most beautiful fountains (and apparently metal dinosaurs). You should just stop by to see the garden packed with fountains and sculptures. There are three more stores (one a Tibetan store, jewelry store, and a pirate/sailing store, with a funny clerk) If your curious about this place just stop, and see whats inside. read more

We went recently for lunch on our wedding anniversary at Spanish Town. The food was excellent as always. The service spoiled us this time BIG TIME When Waitress Silvia discovered that we had come all the way from SF for lunch, she and the management arranged for a sweet treat: A wedding serenade with balloon plus a delicious desert. This is an announcement of closure for one of the shops. Half Moon Art and Antiques, the front most shop and by far one of the best for fine art, jewelry and collectibles has decided to close its doors after 6 good years. Charles Kirtley, the owner, announced his closure this week and will try to remain open through the end of September 2008. His decision to close has come as a shock for many of us here in Half Moon Bay and while we will miss his lovely shop, we wish him well in his recovering health. I have always been curious about Spanish Town and made time to check it out; I'm so glad I did! The highlight was a sweet store that specializes in Nepali and Tibetan goods called Maya Devi. Both my wife and I have been to Nepal and neither of us could believe what the store had! We walked out with tons of beautiful artistic pieces (some for ourselves and others that made superb gifts) and the prices were VERY reasonable. And the Nepali guys who run the place are super kind, laid back...felt like I was in Kathmandu! HIGHLY recommended. read more

My niece was instantly excited by the dinasors on the way back home yesterday & we pulled off; it was fun walking around the grounds & seeing all the gazibos, pots, plants, fountains which was so tranquil, & the Buddha pots which I would love to get. The guy was very nice comming out to ask if he could helpn us & answering any questions. I have wanted to stop in at this place for years and finally did the other day. There are some great little shops in this complex. If you want to get a way from that mall mentality, this is the place to go. The shop owners are friendly and helpful. There is a great Nepalese shop that has a lot of beautiful jewelry, handicrafts and just beautiful things from Nepal. There is another shop across from that that has beautiful gifts and things to decorate your home. I will definitely be coming back. read more

I've been going to SPANISHTOWN for several years because my 75+ father loves their beef enchilada. That is all he ever orders. I've tried everything and last week I got deathly ill from a meal. It's scary, my face started to pound and I was sweating, within 30 minutes of eating (what I noticed looked really old and had a heavy sauce on it), my lips swelled up and I looked like I had those wax lips on like a Halloween costume!! Then after 1-1/2 hrs I began getting sick. I called them, the manager or owner didn't even call me back. I just want to know what made me react this way. It's never happened in my life prior to this and I am 56! It was unable to go to work the next day, but when I finally woke up the next am my lips were normal. And, no I wasn't eating shellfish. I've called so many health agencies to try and determine what it may have been, but I have never been able to talk to a person, only leave messages.
