Disappointed. The rice was the yellow rice not much flavor. Had the fried scallops I'm pretty sure they are minced meat type scallops pre frozen with batter. The staff was nice order was quick. Egg drop soup was good. I wish they would clean the windows and door they are filthy. Something as simple as that would make the place a little more inviting. read more

I always eat here when I'm craving Chinese. Kings wok has the best Chinese in town. The meat is moist and tender, the rice is sticky and flavorful, and variety is amazing. I live a few minutes away from the restaurant, when I arrive my food is ready. They have quick service and amazing staff. My only complaint? The restaurant is VERY loud and overstimulates me. As a northerner, I have high expectations when it comes to Chinese food. While it's not the best I've ever had it's solid, fast, and cheap eats! We really enjoy the honey and sesame chicken lunch specials. We live about 25 minutes from this location and the food is always piping hot still when we get home with our lunch. They have taken some serious covid precautions and I truly appreciate that. Eliminating the dine-in area, glass walls between you and the kitchen, a bank style box to get your order when it's done. I will start with, I may try them again to be fair But this initial experience was horrible. I ordered a house fried rice, a simple dish, it's the dish that kind of let's you know what to expect. And it was a major fail on a couple of levels: 1. The rice was more like Spanish rice and it was old, and / or it was overcooked. 2. I could hardly find any meat in it. 3. It was bland, no flavor, add the soy, just tastes like salted, old, mush rice, with hardly any meat this is what it was. I ordered 6 meals to go and the food was excellent. My only complaint and hope they fix it, was that all 6 meals had twice as much rice as As meat on each plate. This is the left over rice and we threw one more bunch of it away before taking the photo. The food again was really good and everyone loved it. I don't really know any good Chinese food in Lakeland so I googled the closest one and king's wok was literally 5 minutes up the road so I gave it a try. I ordered just chicken wings and rice and some crab ragoons and it was a little pricey but I'm the type that don't mind paying for good food; if it's good. Man it was terrible. The rice was hard with no flavor taste like water. And the wings were so hard it hurt my teeth so I couldn't eat them. They taste like they refried old wings. I travel a lot for work, so I frequently deal with unknown restaurants, and that can certainly be a terrible nightmare, especially before services like Yelp. I tend to only write reviews if a restaurant is well above or well below the expected quality. This New York style Chinese food was a wonderful and refreshing treat, as I recently have had some terrible experiences with Chinese food, to the point where I was becoming discouraged from ever ordering it again. It is good to know that some places are still doing it right! Thank you King's Wok and Yelp!! First time eating here and I ordered takeout, it was ready in 10 minutes flat. No issues with anything from the phone order to done eating. The Singapore chow mein fun was just spicy enough, not overpowering, still allowing the delish flavors to come through. Chicken teriyaki moist and seasoned well. The steamed pork dumplings are quite good. Nice flavor and moisture. Pork fried rice tastes delicious with good sized chunks of meat and veggies, not at all dry either. As you can tell I have a thing against dried out Chinese food... No worries about that here!! Yay!! Placed an order over the phone. The lady that answered was very nice. Business seemed to be booming, since she had to put me on hold to answer another call. Ordered two egg rolls and the house lo mein with spicy garlic sauce. She said it would be ready in ten minutes. Tried to order fried bananas, but they did not have bananas (plantains) today. The food was ready when I arrived. Killed time at CVS nearby to get some necessities and a soda for my meal. The lady I spoke to over the phone was very nice in person, and she pointed me to the condiments. It was refreshing to see the condiments on the counter for me to peruse. I'm not a condiment freak, but I do tend to drown my Chinese food in soy sauce. The menu advertised that they were New York Style... The egg roll was kind of skinny, like a spring roll. The lo mein was ok. I did not taste one hint of the spicy garlic that I had requested. I wasn't upset over it, since I had soy sauce. I don't think I will return unless I am in a pinch, and it is late at night. read more

I placed an order and I reviewed the order with the girl on the phone before I confirmed. My husband went to pick up the order and noticed it was incorrect he revised the order left and he then went back to pick up the new order; we get home and the food is still wrong this is not the first time they've done this. We went here to give them a try for the first time last night for supper on 6/17. We ordered about $50 worth of food: General Tso's Chicken, Beef with Broccoli, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Vegetable Lo Mein, Teriyaki Chicken on a Stick, and a quart of white steamed rice. They put it in a cardboard box since I had ordered so much. I got to the car and headed home and began to notice the distinct smell of cigarette smoke. I did not think much of it but as we began to eat my youngest daughter said that she tasted cigarette smoke. I had not said anything about it to any of them so she was not pre-biased towards it. My oldest daughter's boyfriend scoffed at her but then when he tasted the Lo Mein he agreed with her and would not eat it. Somebody in the kitchen needs to stop smoking or at least wash their hands before handling food after smoking. Prior to that my wife asked me if I would want the three pieces of General Tso's she had on her plate because it tasted like fish. I ate one and she was right! It left a fishy aftertaste. They obviously needed to change their cooking oil. As previous owners and operators of a fast food stand food should not be cooked in oil that you fry fish in. The chicken on a stick was my oldest daughter's meal. She said it was good but two of the four had the skimpiest skinny pieces of chicken I had ever seen for this entree. For the price we would have expected more. We felt like the portions, not being the lunch portions, were not very generous as the rice portions greatly exceeded the meat and vegetable portions. I liked the ability to online order and they were accommodating with our special requests to substitute white rice for the fried rice on two of the entrees, to add egg to the fried rice on one of the entrees, and to make the General Tso's extra spicy (and they did as it made my eyes water). They also included three egg rolls with the order which was nice but they were not very good. My wife thought they had a strange spice taste. I ate half of one and did not care for it either. We had really hoped for a better first experience but we will not chance wasting money by going back. My son said that it wasn't the worst Chinese food he has had but it ranked right down there with it. We will go back to Chen's Wok just down the street. We have eaten their food several times and it seems to be much better. read more

Bourbon chicken was a bit rubbery, bland, and had some bad parts on it. Comes with rice and a big chunk of broccoli. This was the worst meal I have ever had at a restaurant. I ordered chicken cho mien and the chicken was thin cut gray pieces with absolutely no flavor. In fact the whole meal had no flavor. The chicken was mixed with lots of onion, some green peppers, small amount of slivered carrots and lots of limp, stringy lettuce. The egg roll looked like it was stuffed with cabbage or lettuce. I got the shrimp fried rice and a shrimp egg roll, they didn't have any chicken (due to the whole COVID thing I'm assuming, idk). The food was really really good but the service was terrible. Considering that I called ahead to order so I was just picking up, I stood there for at least 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me then when I got my food there were 0 napkins and NO eating utensils with it. I just think I wasted a lot of my lunch break waiting (the food was ready) and it defeated the purpose of me calling 30 mins ahead especially since I was the ONLY customer in there.
