I am very sad that I have to post this review. I have been going to China Wok since they opened, they were my go to for great, fast Chinese food. Previously on the last two orders, I wasn't happy with the flavor profile, it seemed to have changed. I decided today to give them another chance. Boy, am I regretting my decision! I ordered a beef and broccoli combination dinner, roast pork lo mein, and wonton soup. Wonton soup was good. The beef and broccoli and lo mein were horrible! Everything tasted of fish sauce and celery, even the egg roll. I took a few bites and threw everything away. I will not be returning and do not recommend this restaurant. read more

Went inside to pick up my phone in order. One man at the counter one lady waiting at a table. I got in line at the counter So door dash guy came in walked right to the counter ahead of me and they took care of him. My order was ready just needed to pay. I was amazed they took him first. I said there's a line. No one cared. I said I was here before him. They didn't care. When did door dash or Uber eats come before your loyal local cash paying customers. Horrible customer service. While not the fanciest place by far, people of Lakeland don't overlook China Wok. One of the strip shopping center formats it's clearly meant more for their take-out service than diners eating there. Some of the dishes like the orange chicken can be hit or miss other dishes are consistently what keep me coming back. The wonton soup is like a warm hug. If you get the large serving it can easily feed two people as it's packed with a half dozen or more huge wontons. Wontons with great filling and perfectly cooked, not mushy. The other is the steamed dumplings. They're huge and filled with pork and veggies. Sure they'd be good fried as well. A great vegetarian dish is the veggies with tofu. The sauce is delicious and makes eating your veggies that much more enjoyable. read more

Very disappointing experience.... Came in at 545pm on a Wednesday and order Moo Shu pork and Kung Pao chicken to eat in. Food came quickly but only 3 tables inside and all were dirty from previous customers. Had to go to my car and bring in hand wipes to clean the table. Food was tasteless, meat very chewy and contained vegetables I had never seen before. Whole seating area, including windows, was very dirty and needs ALOT of improvement. Delivery to the Plant City Fairfield took a full hour. Food was still hot (and my can of Sprite was still cold), plus they included plastic plates, silverware and napkins. My Shrimp with Garlic Sauce had a different sauce than I am used to - a bit sweeter and definitely darker. Shrimp were large but had that not-quite-firm consistency of older shrimp. THERE WAS A MAGGOT IN MY FOOD. DO NOT EAT HERE. INCREDIBLY DISGUSTING!!!! NOT A JOKE. 100% SERIOUS. It was in the order of steamed dumplings. I ate 5 dumplings out of 6, and then I saw it on the bottom of the white, plastic bowl. After I threw up 15 times, I called to complain. The woman offered to refund me for ONLY THE DUMPLINGS. If there are maggots in the dumplings, who knows what the hell is in the other food. Clearly there isn't high quality cleanliness going on here. I work at an establishment with a lot of employees who order from here often. An email was sent out with a picture of the maggot, as well as the restaurant information to avoid this from happening again. I'm contacting the health department and posting this review as many places as I can so no one else has to endure this. This establishment needs to be shut down by the health inspector. read more

I've been eating from China Wok for 4 years now. My family and I have eaten at quite a few Chinese restaurants in Lakeland, but since we found this one it's our go to place for Chinese food. I'm not going to lie to you. They look like those "other" Chinese take out joints that have some pictures of their menu hanging from the ceiling and it's hot because the kitchen is right there behind the counter. You know them: you walk in and see all that and then your body starts to turn you around and leave. I've walked out of a few, eaten horrible food at most and end up ignoring them because "they're all the same". Dont do it to this place. Their food is fantastic. I've had General Tso's chicken from here to Orlando and this place has the best. It's just spicy enough to enjoy it, and it's flavorful (and I've had some awful General Tso's chicken). The combo I get is #18; which is General Tso's chicken (I hope the third time I mention it means it appears right next to me on my desk at work right now) it comes with rice, egg roll and broccoli BUT you can substitute the rice for lo-mein. Their lo-mein is awesome. I dont like rice; so that they substitute it with out any issue is great. On top of the fact that it's like their lo-mein was made to compliment the General Tso's chicken. I'm a man of routine; so it's hard for me to venture out to other items but their regular lo-mein is really good. Their wonton soup is really good too. It's like, you can have the same soup at different places but there's one that's better: this is the place that has the best. I love sipping it when I'm sick. The order never takes long to make. We can order it, drive over and by the time we're there it's ready. We live maybe 15-20 minutes away. If we walk in and order after grocery shopping it's the same amount of time. They deliver; but we just prefer to pick it up. The other plus about their food is it tastes just as good for leftovers. It takes me a couple of days (probably not the smartest thing on my part) but it still tastes as great as the first time. I'd recommend eating it for lunch or dinner the next day; lunch on the third day for sure. That's a major plus for me because I dont have to worry about lunch when I eat there. Probably the best Chinese in Lakeland. Family owned and operated. Great bourbon chicken with big nicely cooked pieces of chicken. Not mushy like a lot of places. Great fat egg rolls with a lot of cabbage. Really good pork fried rice with the combo. It's yellowish in case that's something you're picky about. Basically everything here is a win and it's just as fairly priced as other chinese restaurants in lakeland which have mushy meats and sad vegetables. This place was recommended to me by the front desk at the neighboring Marriott Residence Inn. I drove over for takeout and ordered the General Tso's Chicken (requested it to be spicy) and a small order of Hot and Sour soup. To be honest, I wasn't impressed at all with this place. The General Tso's Chicken was not spicy at all and the chicken tastes like it had been sitting out all day and reheated. The rice that came with it looked and tasted like Mexican rice. How original! Trust those who Yelp regularly... I ordered from the Hyatt Place Hotel for delivery. I caught them at a good time and had my food SUPER fast. Beef & Broccoli and substituted the rice for Lo Mein. It came with an egg roll, and I tried the large Wonton soup to round out my order to exactly $15 (min for delivery now) The beef and broccoli were ok. Not much flavor. Meh... The lo mein was pretty bland, and the egg roll was somehow ultra deep fried. So much so that I cut it open and scooped the cabbage (not much) out. I ordered online only to wait an hour and seventeen minutes before I had to call and they told me they never got the order that I got a confirmation email for. I then placed the same order over the phone and was charged three dollars more than the price on the email confirmation I received for my order. Used a Delivery Service to place the order (correctly, no problems there) and pick it up and deliver it to us. We ordered the Chow Mein, based on a picture on the services website that showed a dish with Lo Mein noodles. When the food arrived, the food was nothing at all like the picture and my wife was rather unhappy with the difference. We called and the lady that answered seemed very reasonable and understood there was some frustration. She handed the phone to what I assume was a Chef / Manager / Owner who proceeded to tell me 10 times that Lo Mein and Chow Mein are not the same and basically that it was all my fault. Do me a favor, go google "Chow Mein Meal". Every single picture has Lo Mein noodles in it. Literally every one visible without scrolling for me. Regardless the meal that arrived looked like a damp dead squid carcass and it was pretty disappointing. What really drove us to 1 Star from maybe 2 or 3 was the response from the person we spoke with second on the phone. Typical case of someone who will not accept that they have not provided the best service they could and are refusing any sort of criticism. Never once did I ask or demand something in return for the disappointment we got, but I was just trying to provide constructive feedback so nobody else had the same awful experience we had. But I got the feeling that I was not heard at all, but seen as some fool that did not know what Chow Mein was (I did not, to be fair) So here is where I can help. You heard my story. I called for my delivery, it was delivered in an appropriate amount of time, but when I received it, the bag and all of its contents reeked of cigarette smoke. Very unappetizing. As I opened my sesame chicken, it had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp and had been cooked some time ago. It was soggy from the sauce but the chicken was basically chicken jerky. Very very poor service the lady who picked up the phone was very rude she placed me on hold for about 3 minutes without advising me to please hold after that she denied delivering my order because of my location which was only 10 minutes away so I agreed on picking up then she proceeded to ask my if I knew where they were located in a rude manor and denied taking my order and hung up on me twice I had my wife call for me from her phone since it appears she had something against me for no reason we gave the lady the same order and she lied about the total claiming our total was $41 when we did the calculations ourself and the order was only $23 my wife asked the chinese lady to repeat our order just to see if there was a misunderstanding and she had the order correct we even did the math for her over the phone and she refused and kept insisting the total was $41 So then I told my wife to just cancel the order I got tired of the chinese replying back in such a rude manor I shouldn't feel like I have to argue with someone just to place an order she should've avoided replying back and just took the order so after my wife cancelled the order the Chinese lady reply back in a rude manor again and hung up it's people like her who ruins such an amazing place like this management needs to fire her and replace her with someone who knows how to treat their customers if anyone get this rude Chinese lady on the phone please report it on here as well read more

This place was a recommendation from my hotel. The order process was easy and the delivery was fast but the food was terrible. I ordered Mongolian beef and egg rolls. The Mongolian beef was 90% onions and the egg rolls looked and tasted like they had been fried twice. Way overdone and super greasy. After years of driving by, we finally decided to try China Wok, and we wish we hadn't waited so long. We tried Moo Shoo Pork and Crispy Chicken w/Garlic Sauce. The Moo Shoo is seriously the best I've had since leaving NY 15+ years ago. It had a nice grilled smokiness, the veggies were crisp, and the dish was not all greasy - a welcome change from the usual oiliness. The pancakes were rectangular, wrapped plastic and did not fall apart. Win! The chicken wasn't terribly crispy as takeout, having soaked in the sauce on the way home. next time I'll get it separate. The breading was pillowy like Sweet and Sour. The snow peas and broccoli were crisp, and the sauce, while flavorful, was not as spicy as expected. Garlic chili paste at home fixed that. Service was fast and friendly, the restaurant was clean and well lit, and they deliver! And the portions are huge. Yes, this will be our new Chinese takeout place. read more

One night, I put about 30 miles on my car driving around to different Chinese restaurants only to find them out of business or in a shady neighborhood. So, I brought my burger and fries home, sat down at the table, went through my day's mail and discovered a take out menu for China Wok. I was happy to see that they had seating inside the restaurant, but disappointed to see that they had cheap plastic utensils. We decided to get the order to go. I had the sweet and sour chicken with an egg roll and pork fried rice. I was very surprised at how yummy it was. I had enough food for 2 meals and it was about $8. I have gone back to China Wok and ordered the hot and sour soup (large for $3.50) and I still have leftovers. China Wok does deliver - I think you just have to have a $12 min. order.
