Waited a few months to see if this would not bother me, but was wrong. This was my second visit to KCT. Arrived in January '23 and spoke with a fella named, Josh. Wanted a trailer hitch for my 2019 Ram. Asked for a "all-in" quote, and was told $530. I asked if that included tax, and was told "no". I said that seemed high already, and he said he would include the tax in the $530. Josh said the part would be in, in a few days. After not hearing for 2 plus weeks, I called, and was told there was a problem with the part, but they'd have it now in two days. Due to scheduling problems on my part, I called twice more, and had to remind Josh that the $530 included tax, which he did not recall. When I went in, and gave to truck to Josh for the installation, I failed to mention the tax. After the work was done, I was handed the bill. You guessed it, the tax was added on to the $530. I reminded Josh of the $530 (all-in) quote, and he pretended that it was the first time he heard of it. I was angry, and should have told him to remove the hitch, but did not. The $594 invoice still seemed high, and was told that there was a 4% credit card fee attached, which New York merchants are scrambling over to attach this fee to their customers. On the way out, I asked for the labor mark-up that Kingston Caps & Trailers charge over the parts cost, and Josh told me usually $100 for each an hour. My work took about 40 minutes. I looked at the price of the Curt trailer hitch that I just bought, and the part was $235. At $100 for labor, the cost should have been $335 plus tax. I was charged $259 over the part and labor cost that I should have been charged, or a 77% overcharge. Nice. With the disrespect and contempt some merchants treat their clientele, I have to wonder about the intelligence of the merchants. I was clearly duped by KCT here, and it is my fault for not being super careful with these guys. In the long run, however, I wonder how much damage they are actually doing to their business, with practices such as these. read more

I highly recommend Luke and his staff at Kingston Caps and Trailers! Luke and his staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I had a problem with my horse trailer lights for months. I paid others to fix my lights that still didn't work. Thankfully a friend suggested Kingston Caps & Trailers. After bringing my trailer to Kingston Caps & Trailer all my lights work as if the trailer we're new again. Luke could have tried to talk me into a new trailer like the other trailer dealers had all tried but he didn't. Just had a hitch installed on my 2019 Subaru Forrester. Luke did an amazing job right from the very beginning. He pleasantly answered he phone and all of my questions. We booked my appointment for today. I was received kindly at the office and taken right away, not only did he install my hitch but he put put together my bike rack and explained how it all worked. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE! I purchased an enclosed 5x8 utility trailer for my cross country move. It was not installed by the young man at the shop properly. I have pictures to prove it. It came unhitched while driving down the highway. After I had it repaired and thought I was calm enough to have a short conversation with the owner about the safety issues involved - I called Kingston caps to tell them about the situation and allow them the chance to rectify the situation. I told the owner what happened and that he needed to make sure the young man who was installing trailers for him was properly trained or let go. He said something about the 'walkthrough' the young man had done with the trailer w/me after it was installed - no such event ever occurred. A - the owner never once asked if everyone was ok. B - He told me it was 'impossible' for the trailer to have been installed improperly and for us to have driven as far as we did on it so I must have bought a 'defective' trailer. WHAT!? In the same breath he called me (and the tow truck driver and 5 guys at the repair shop) a liar and admitted to selling me a defective trailer. At that point I could not even communicate with him over the phone anymore I was so angry. There is no reasonable definable explanation as to how my family and I are safe and alive. The negligence of Kingston Caps & Trailers could have killed us. The fear and trauma caused to my family by their incompetence is inexcusable. This was not an accident, this was pure incompetence. It should never have happened. I am furious and a negative review to warn others is only the first of multiple steps I will be taking. read more
