I love Kinja! I used to come here all the time when I lived closer and I would have some spicy tofu soup with my mom or a few rolls. The Korean food here is immaculate and now that I live 20 minutes away I still place an order because I can't get over their soup! Their dinner deals are also really amazing. My brother ordered the chicken teriyaki and it came with four California rolls, two pieces of Nigiri, two shrimp tempura, one or two dumplings, and a cup of rice!!! All for like $20! The shop owners are a sweet older Korean couple and you can tell just how hard they work to run Kinja. They're very kind, so please be patient with the language barrier :) The set up of their shop is also very cute. There's an abundance of seating and the music they play is always fun. Last time I was in they were playing BTS's old hits. So if you're in the mood for Korean food, come check them out! read more

Very disappointed in our order through a food delivery service today! :( worst experience i've ever had through a food delivery service by far!!!!! One of the items I ordered was a dragon roll. There was no sauce on it! and looked so plain! lacking anything on the ends.. it was basically a california roll with small piece of eel on only half of them. My japchae had just a few pieces of meat in it and the biggest chunk was all chewy and fat. spit it out. and just a bunch of greasy noodles... as for veggies, just tiny pieces of carrot and some big chunks of onion. Extremely disappointed and despite liking their food when its dine-in awhile ago, doubt i'll ever order from them again. what a waste of money!! We ordered delivery through Doordash and the food was good, not great. The serving sizes were pretty good. It could have also had to do with the time it took the food to get here, but we have order sushi take out from many places and it was def better than this. Maybe their just doesn't hold well and it would have been better fresh? We got a few different sushi rolls, kids teriyaki, and general Tso's chicken. My husband and I couldn't pick our favorite roll because we felt they were all just.. eh. The general Tso's chicken did not hold well on the trip. It was soft and cheery. The flavor was more sweet than I'd expect from a general Tso's chicken, but it wasn't terrible. The teriyaki chicken was also okay, but tasted like what you'd get at any mall food court. Has a quiet almost deserted feel to the place when you walk in. The conveyor didn't have much of a selection the entire time we were there but then again there were only seven other customers the whole time we were there (around 12:45 - 1:30 pm.) We opted for Korean and ordered Bibimpab in a hot stone bowl. It was quite good, even though there was more rice than normal in the bowl than I would expect at other Korean restaurants. The service was decent. The decor is a little drab, and dark. I really love the conveyor belt sushi so was excited to see that. Nothing really got me all excited about this place so only 3 stars. The area is a bit isolated (north Spokane) and the restaurant isn't busy at all, but I really think this restaurant deserves more attention! They have a huge parking lot and it was pretty much empty on the weekend during the lunch time. So I walked into the restaurant with no expectation. Korean food in Spokane? Probably not that great. But, but their food!!!!!! is what exceeded my expectation. I would not recommend getting sushi at this location though. My friend said their sushi wasn't so fresh when he tried a while ago. But their korean food really surprised me. I got gop chang jeon gol (Intestine spicy soup) because I know it's something I can't make it at home. And I am glad I did! For $13.99 it comes with a big pot of soup and a large rice bowl and side dishes. My soup had a lot of ingredients in them and they tasted pretty good (probably with a little help of MSG.. lol). My friend ordered yakisoba and it was pretty decent for $6.99! can't beat that price. Their cold noodles ($11.99) were okay though, the soup was just too sweet in my opinion. But overall, their food I would say it's the best tasting korean dishes in Spokane (I am korean and I know how real Korean food tastes like, so trust me :P) And the price! is comparably cheap considering how much food I was getting. I am a paramedic in this city and wanted to try a new place tonight while on duty.. BIGas MISTAKE if you're eating here. Prices are higher then most. The food I ordered and paid for was unavailable. Then once I got my meal the put bag salad mix as a side with sub-par white rice. The main dish I ordered was dweji bulgogi or pork Bulgogi. As an Army veteran I have eaten this meal many times and many places, so I have a minimal foundation in its preparation and taste. This was awful, meat was fatty, tasted re-heated, vegetables were soggy, sauce tasted like it was from a jar. NEVER GOING BACK! read more

So this place is one of 2 spots in Spokane with a sushi carousel and it runs from 11-2ish so best to show up early to get the fresh stuff. Service: I went for lunch on a Wednesday and only 2 people were running the restaurant at the time so it took a while for our food but they were both very pleasant so it did not bother me at all. The only big down side is that because it was not super staffed they weren't able to check in on us and get us refills on our drinks or check to see if we wanted to add to our order. Food: They have a pretty large selection of sushi options. I tried the Crazy Philadelphia roll (deep fried), the Division roll, and the 911 roll. Hostess was wayyy over worked for a Saturday night and they hardly had any food on their belt for the 45 minutes we were here despite three people standing in the back rolling the sushi. We ordered fried rice for our young children and waited 30 minutes before asking about it and she told us another 10. 40 minute wait for rice? We also didn't get drinks for 20 The food was good for what we were able to to taste... but like I said, there wasn't much choice. Felt mostly annoyed by the lack of friendliness. My first time here and it was good. The eel sauce wasn't spicy enough and had a strange red color not quite the orange I'm used to but the food was good. The happy valley roll was delicious. Ordered mackerel sushi, salmon sushi, maguro sushi, rainbow on spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll, and the tiger roll and requested extra soy and wasabi and napkins and utensils. The salmon and maguro sushi was pretty good but the mackerel I would not order again as it tasted very fishy. We've had mackerel before but it's never tasted like this did. The rainbow on spinach tuna roll and the tiger roll were good too. The shrimp tempura left more to be desired. We did not get the extra soy, wasabi, or napkins and utensils we requested. Well....lts just say it was a step up from Yoke's sushi... I have not been here since 2011 and it has changed in appearance. The belt sushi was ok but not great... Limited items on the belt and most just kept going around. We ordered off the menu as well and the two specialty rolls but not so great. I am astonished at the fact that this place has 4 star rating when they should be closed down for selling inedible, expired food. Went here on a Monday early evening. When we went in, there was 2 other people sitting by the conveyor belt sushi area. We were trying to decide whether we wanted to sit at the booth or at the conveyor belt, but after glancing over at the conveyor belt and noticing that there was literally only 2 plates of sushi going around the conveyor belt (which did NOT look fresh at all), we decided to sit at the booth. I had eaten a late lunch so decided to get dessert. I noticed that they had tempura ice cream on the menu for $4.99, so I decided to try that. THAT WAS A BAD MISTAKE. The tempura was stale and had funky odor. It was like the freezer odor when you have whole bunch of stinky stuff in the freezer and the tempura had absorbed that bad odor. Not only that, there was this "whip cream" looking thing spread on top of the tempura ice cream and that tasted sour (as in, that whip cream or whatever the hell it was had expired). I couldn't tell whether it was whip cream or not because it was definitely NOT creamy, but had rubbery texture and it was foamy. The only thing edible about this tempura ice cream was the ice cream. So I basically paid about $6 ($4.99 plus tax) to eat one spoon of Safeway vanilla ice cream. The other people sitting at my table ordered Korean dishes (kimchi stew, soft tofu stew, and sashimi rice). I got to taste little bit of all the dishes and once again, it was a huge disappointment. The kimchi stew tasted like water with kimchi added, the soft tofu stew tasted like Korean ramen seasoning, and the sashimi rice had like 3 pieces of sashimi and rest was ALL vegetable (and that entree was about $13). Not only did the food taste terrible and inedible, the owner was being stingy about the side dishes so she didn't even bring them out until we asked for them. The side dishes also looked very old and it almost looked as if left over side dishes from another table. In conclusion, please do NOT be fooled by the 4 star rating on yelp for this restaurant. I have been to many other terrible Asian eateries around Spokane and congratulations Kinja, you made it #1 on my "places to avoid" list. read more

If you want fresh sushi on the conveyor belt then I would suggest going at a time that makes sense. My experience here has been good. Lunch time is when the chefs kick it up a notch with making fresh stuff so my choice of seating would be by the conveyer belt. The chef usually pays attention to the choices one makes. For example, I kept picking the orange plate because of the price and types of sushi that came with it. The chef then made more within that price range. I appreciated that. You might ask how did I notice...well I was the first one in for lunch when he started putting sushi on the belt. I choose a booth for dinner because the sushi is made fresh and I get to choose exactly what I want. The service is great and the servers do pay attention to your refills etc. Note: the conveyer belt closes down at 8 pm. Last reminder: Sushi are made fresh during lunch time (11am-1pm). If you are coming in at 3-4 pm and expect all the sushi on the belt to be fresh then...well frankly...your kidding yourself. read more

Last night was our second time visiting Kinja. Our niece was in town visiting and is a huge sushi fan. We opted not to do the sushi belt and sat in a booth. The restaurant was moderately full and smelled amazing. Our server was prompt, polite and extremely personable. He made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered Gyoza, Chicken Yakisoba, Yummy Crunchy Roll, Dragon Roll and the Rainbow Roll. The Yakisoba was delicious, and for $8.99 quite a deal. When our sushi came out, we couldn't help but comment on how much food we were getting. This was some the greasiest food I've eaten. The restaurant it's self is only open for take out or delivery. Yakisoba smelt of ginger and basil. The amount of oil that was On the noodles was outrageous. There were 4 cut in half shrimp that were over cooked to the point of jerky. The flavor for yakisoba wasn't there, I can't recall ever having something comparable; wasn't good. The noodles themselves were only half cooked/coated in sauce. Forget best sushi on the Northside, Kinja is the best sushi in Spokane! Not only is the sushi delicious, but the prices are very reasonable, and the owners and staff are exceptional! They go above and beyond to make your experience great, every time. If they don't have something on the sushi track that strikes your fancy, they will make anything you want and make sure it gets on the track. I've come in so often that they know what I like, and make sure to put extra plates of my favorites on the track - and if I want something customized? No problem. You can also order both sushi rolls and Japanese and Korean dishes from the extensive menu, and since it's all made fresh, you can order it any way you like. This is definitely the place to take anyone who is intimidated by eating sushi, because there is never any hassle with making it just the way you want. And, if someone's just not a sushi fan - they have excellent noodle dishes, and their sweet and sour chicken is amazing! There are many other things I'd love to try there in the future, too - but the sushi is so amazing it's always hard to try anything else. I've tried many other sushi restaurants in Spokane, and none of them compared to Kinja.
