I have been to this café twice. The first visit was pleasant. The second visit, a few weeks later, was not. I ordered an iced coffee, but what I received was a light brown liquid that looked and tasted like muddy water. It was so weak that it barely resembled coffee. It's right in front of the M69 bus and a block from Astoria Park so it's perfect for grabbing a hot drink after a cold walk or vice versa in summer. Kinship had great hours so it's become one of my go-to spots for getting work done out of the house. The staff os friendly, the drink offerings are tasty, and they have good pastries. I recently popped into Kinship Coffee to get some studying done. It seems like I wasn't alone; other folks (as in one other person and my friend) were also hitting the books. However, there's a one-hour time limit, which is a bit of a bummer if you're planning on a marathon study session (though I'm not sure how strictly they enforce this since we didn't stay that long). On the plus side, I definitely appreciated the free WiFi. It made staying productive a lot easier. That said, I did end up with a headache, which I think was due to the strong scent in the air. It was a bit overwhelming. Overall, Kinship Coffee has a nice vibe for a quick study session, but be prepared for the time limit. An Iced Oat Lavender Latte is my go-to order at most coffee shops and I have to say, Kinship did it so right. It was creamy and rich with just the right amount of lavender. My favorite part - the park is close by as well. Great place to hop on in and do some reading, get some work in, and grab a delicious cup of cold brew or latte. I quite like this shop! They have cuppings of their espresso every monday, that I haven't gone to yet but I love the idea. I've tried a decaf oat flat white, a tea, and their "Winter Tonic." Amazing! The winter tonic was really really good, even with decaf espresso. All of the baristas have been very kind thus far and I loved how spacious and cozy the interior was. Like fancy coffee? Addicted to caffeine? Visit Kinship! I've *only* been here mornings (and many times), so I can't comment on how the cafe is later in the day. But if you're here early? There's usually free seats (including on their patio) and plenty of natural light. If I were a cat, I'd curl up on the floor with an espresso. Besides espressos, I love their pourovers and cortados. Recommended if you're a fan of either. Credit accepted. No loyalty card, sadly. But even without one, I'm still loyal to them! Astoria is blessed to be the home of Kinship Coffee Roasters. In my opinion, they are top 3 in all of New York City. The quality of their coffee is top notch. They know exactly how to dial in their shots and they have a wicked pour over machine. I don't know how they do it but their beans and roasting are incredible. I also buy their beans and grind them up at home for my Chemex coffee. Their baristas know how to steam that milk! It's such an important part of coffee and they nail it. Big ups to Kinship. Buy your friends and family a bag of beans on your way out--they'll thank you for it. read more

Nice cafe -with friendly staff -but disorganized service, We came here last Sunday for a hot brew and herbal tea. We were in line and were told someone was in front of us. It wasn't worth arguing about. We wanted to order tea and coffee that we could get immediately and asked for recommendations that didn't take 15 mins or more. Nevertheless, service was slow and disorganized, and it took far longer to place and receive than it should have done at any other compatible cafe. This is my favorite spot to work out of in Astoria. I wish it were closer to where I live, but it's proximity to the park is also so ideal. With ample indoor and outdoor seating, chill music playing that isn't so loud that you can't concentrate and giant tables that allow you to spread out all your work from home gear onto, they really should look into charging folks rent for office space (though I usually end up dropping a decent amount of money here when working here for hours). Service is prompt, friendly, and helpful. Their assortment of baked goods are always fresh and tasty, the croissants here are nice and flaky just how I like them. As far as prices go, the more creative options (like a lavender latte or maple cold brew) will run you less than other spots like Moa, and are just as good. I really enjoy their ginger peach tea, it's perfectly light and refreshing, and hits extra good on a hot summer day like the one's we've been having as of late. 10/10, no notes. read more

I came to kinship because it was recommended to me multiple times by people in the neighborhood. I came on a Sunday afternoon to get some work done. The service was great the baristas were kind and knowledgeable. I ordered a quiche with mushrooms and other things. It was delicious!!!!! Perfectly crispy, flakey, and flavorful. I also go an iced dirty chai and wow you could really taste the richness of the espresso. It wasn't too sweet either which is always a win with iced chais. The cafe was roomy and clean. My friends from the track club and I started coming here after workouts when it was too cold to sit outside at The Barn coffee shop. Turns out Kinship's coffee is excellent and I really like their cold brew! The cold brew is very smooth and easy to drink with not much bitterness/acidity. The pastries are ok and staff is generally friendly. I also enjoy seeing like half of the customers with their dogs. So many people take their dogs here especially on the weekends that it's fun to check them out. Sorry for being the little creep that I am but I can't help it as a dog lover. read more

I stumbled upon this coffee shop after exploring Astoria Park and killing time before heading out to LGA and fly home. I really enjoyed this coffee shop because I had a space to not only destress from the cancellations and delays of my plane. The atmosphere here was extremely nice and the coffee was excellent. It was even reasonably priced. The baristas were extremely nice and listened to me even vent about all of my travel delays and what not. Absolutely overpriced, but come because I can park and sit and do work. Was in this afternoon (7.29.23) and two baristas were talking SO LOUDLY (a short female with brown hair, bangs and glasses who came in at around 1pm) and a male (taller, glasses) and were just going on and on about her upcoming vacation and flight and nervousness about forgetting medicine and how her fiancé blah blah blah. I literally had to leave. I could hear every single word of her conversation. Management should know how obnoxious she is and that she needs to keep it down. I have been in NYC for over 15 years and moved to Astoria almost 2 years ago - I do not expect the warmth and friendliness outsiders do. Kinship (near Astoria park) is my closest coffee shop. By default I have been here a lot. Service can be kind and friendly. However there is one particular barista who I feel is a bit newer to the team, (maybe 6 mos or so but I can't be sure) she is CONSISTENTLY quite rude. Decided to write a review after leaving the shop with another patron who exclaimed how terribly rude this barista always is. I'm sure they don't need my patronage. Have been frequenting Mighty Oak the past two weeks instead. read more
