This spot was truly a hidden gem for me in LIC since it's right by the water and there are many places surrounding it. Cafe by day and drinks by night! I came here back in 2025 and was so impressed by how beautiful the atmosphere was and the spanish music they played that night was incredible. My friend and I tried the espresso martinis and they were so so good. Definitely recommend for a girls night or if you're looking to wind down for a drink. The inside of the cafe is fairly small but there's quite a few tables, and an area ("The laptop area") for you to get your work done. Service here is quick and the barista was nice. I absolutely love this place. I had a decaf rose latte with oat milk-- it was sooo good and made with such care. The bartender Emmanuel was sooo funny and personable. He recommended for my date an espresso martini which they absolutely loved, they said it was the best they've ever had. I'm confused, because how can they have good coffee and food. Seriously, both the food and drinks that I've had here, including desert is superiorly good. I mean I've visited many a cafe before but I've found that either the drinks are really tasty or the food is really great, but not both. I also like that Sweetleaf offers options for all types of food preferences, and taste buds. What I also really like about the place is that they have multiple options for seating, including both indoor and outdoor seating, sofas, barstools and regular chairs, which again allows for multiple options - so whatever your preference for seating, they've got it. Not sure how I haven't reviewed Sweetleaf yet, but it's definitely an LIC institution (with another location on Center Blvd near the waterfront). Haven't had the pastries just yet, but they look delectable. My go-to drink order is the Rocket Fuel, which is cold brew + chicory maple syrup + milk. I usually get it with a little less syrup (because...calories), but it's the perfect combo of pep and treat. Staff is super super nice, and the atmosphere is very chill and welcoming. This place is for sure one of the best coffee shops I've visited. The vibes are more grunge and there's all types of seating available - from a sofa to individual tables. I have been to this Sweetleaf location a number of times to work. The location is pretty small, with a "computer room" on the right hand side in the front, and a "record room" in the back, where there are outlets. This location doesn't accommodate a lot of people working, but if you can snag a spot, I think it's a nice spot to spend the afternoon. It also is at a nice location, right at the entrance to the Pulaski Bridge. The service here is fine, never had any major issues. I don't drink coffee, but often get teas from here, which have always been good. I recently had an iced black tea with strawberry puree, which was really good. read more

After initially confusing this location for their beautiful cocktail bar (#1), I have over time become extremely appreciative with Sweetleaf's approach to coffee. They have some of the best brews in the neighborhood and their prominent corner location along Jackson ensures that few people will ever miss this place strolling by. Before the pandemic (#2) this spot was an ideal destination for the casual meetup, alone time, and / or some quick takeout. The place doesn't seem that big, but dig a little deeper and there are tables along the sides of the bar and a pseudo-private room in the back. The WiFi isn't blazing in speed, but it gets the job done for some light work. As mentioned earlier, their coffee based drinks are fabulous. The cold brew 2.0 is probably my favorite one of the bunch, followed by their mean matcha and chai lattes. The other sleeper drink is their strawberry iced tea. I normally don't care for iced tea, but their strawberry purée is perfectly sweet and makes the drink a quality one. I am also a sucker for their voodoo child signature drink, which is really a Vietnamese style cold brew and is a hard find in LIC. Their prices seem quite average, especially for the neighborhood but I am not a huge fan of the .50 ice surcharge but I understand the need to make money. Every single time I come here the baristas are friendly and sweet, whenever I have adjustments or even order the wrong thing they help out with out making it a completely new order. I have bought their slap shot espresso beans which was their med dark roast but it tasted like a very bright roast which I love but incase anyone was expecting smoky dark coffee Thats not the coffee profile here. The coffee they serve as the espresso here is fruity yet doesn't have the acidic feel. I personally love this coffee, it's the only bright coffee I have found in all of Long Island city. read more

I was looking for coffee shops in LIC and Sweetleaf popped up. I ordered the Voodoo iced coffee (Vietnamese iced coffee). It was okay, a bit too strong and sweet. The service was lacking. I asked for napkin and the napkin holder was empty, after waiting for a few minutes for an employee to add more napkins, one finally came out and turned the holder to the other side (I feel like she did that to make me look stupid). Was visiting a friend in NY and decided to visit this little gem. The voodoo child is a must have if you love Vietnamese style coffee, it's nice and oh so sweet. Stopped here on a Sunday morning, just to clarify they have several locations but this one does not have food, just coffee and some baked goods. I got the cheddar scone and a strawberry iced tea. Simple options but so so good. The iced tea wasn't too sweet and I could taste the strawberry. The scone was also tasty with a tangy jalapeno flavor, next time need to ask for it to be heated. Upon entering, it was already apparent the barista wasn't exactly the friendly customer-based type. Not a hint of smiling, consistently monotonous, and seemingly-bothered throughout the whole transaction. I got the Rocket Fuel drink, which is a cold-brewed coffee with chicory, maple syrup, and milk, and I didn't really care for it. I didn't think the flavors mixed together that well at all and regretted not getting the trusty Viet coffee (Voodoo Child). I also got a couple pastries - the blueberry muffin and the pineapple zucchini muffin. Blueberry muffin was dry, but the pineapple zucchini muffin was amazing. Texture was great, I think due to the moisture from the pineapple. I think the pastries are all made in-house. The ambiance was a bit modern vintagey and had a decent amount of seating. The table we were at had seats that were connected to the table through swivel arms. Cool concept, but it seemed like it was ready to break at any given movement - there was even a sign that says to be careful when sitting as the table was quite old.
