Went here for a work dinner. A group of almost 50 people and they handled it with perfect ease. We were seated and had hibachi at 4 different tables. Ok the food, they start you off with fried rice actually quite tasty and then lo-mein also tasty. But oh so much. Everyone was unable to finish, plan on taking some home. The shrimp was good as was the scallops, but the steak was not particularly tender. I would try the filet next time. Also someone who is a local suggested going for lunch as well. The "jumbo shrimp" were the size of my pinky finger if that and my sea food loving husband said they tasted awful like BO. He wouldn't touch them. The crab salad was dry and had a weird smell too. Took my 90-year-old mother here for the first time, and I'm honestly shocked by the lack of basic human decency. My mother has serious mobility issues -- standing and sitting are difficult. I simply asked if we could be seated while the third person in our party parked the car so she wouldn't have to stand and struggle. The manager refused, word-for-word: "We can't let you take the seats until the other person is inside." No compassion, no flexibility, not even a moment of understanding. Just a cold "policy" excuse while a 90-year-old woman waited uncomfortably. I get that restaurants have rules. But if your policy can't bend for elderly guests with mobility challenges, something is seriously wrong with your priorities. A business that claims to "make customers happy" should start with basic empathy. Very disappointed. Saturday sushi date before a movie and eating at the bar was the right move. The bartender was great and I value great service as much as quality food. Everything we ordered came out piping hot, fast, and our extra requests were obliged without a wink. I thought it was just the hibachi that ended in leftovers but I have a Togo box for the teriyaki shrimp entree as well! Great portions, a nice grill on the shrimp and fresh veggies that kept their integrity and flavor. The green dragon is a new roll for me and it was light and out together well. This contained no raw ingredients- the flavor wasn't extremely impactful but that could be personal preference- no "wow" for me. I will first start by saying I used to Love this place. But what a let down it has become. Food was good, not great. We had 4 people in my group. A party of 3. And 1 single guy. I got the swordfish which was very good. Vegetables needed cooked more, somewhat flavorless (and I usually Love my vegetables) I actually got extra because 1 in my group does not like any vegetables so she told the chef to give hers to me. What i really enjoyed that night was the rice. This is why I did not give more stars. I got the smallest scoop of rice and when I was thinking he was going to give me more. He piled it on the single guys plate. And it wasn't just the rice he piled, this guy had double the food as anyone else had. Mind you he did not eat anything there. On his phone the whole time, and then packed it all to go. I was thinking that the chef knew him. But when the server came around this guy complained about how messy everything was. WoW. So now it's tine to pay. You can no longer pay up front. We had to wait for the server, who just picked up another party and she was getting their beverages and soup and salad before getting to check us out. Now, 20 minutes later....she finally takes our checks only to come back and ask me if I was paying for mine and the single man. Um no. Just me. She didn't see his credit card. This is a restaurant that charges the EXTRA for credit card fee. I gave her cash. She tried to charge me and another in my party who paid cash the credit card fees. And when I told her, she got mad and said she has to pay those fees. Not if they gave you cash. Yes I got correct change. But very frustrated with the whole checkout deal and how we were treated. I asked for a pepsi and it had shit floating all in it. food has no flavor. i've never left a review in my life, so that says a lot. the chef hated his life. he didn't interact with us at all. when we sat down my hand touched something wet. it was yum yum sauce right on my seat . the people sitting next to me sent their plates back because they were covered in filth. i'm glad i wore tennis shoes because who knows what would have crawled on my feet. absolutely disgusting will never be coming back. everybody here hates their lives. the waiter was cool tho. Great bartender and service for a Friday evening. Sushi was fabulous - loved the freshness of the yellowtail and some of the best spicy tuna we have had. Can't wait to come back for a happy hour (mon thru Thursday) or hibachi - the smells were so amazing it was enticing!! Great vibes all around here. read more

On my birthday, April 13, 2025, I visited this establishment. Unfortunately, I was not informed that cutting cakes is prohibited on weekends, which resulted in the manager, Petter M, becoming extremely upset because we cut the cake. He was unaware that a family friend of mine worked at the establishment and had overheard the situation. Upon arriving home, I noticed a my wallet wasn't with me. I realized that I had left my wallet at the wasabi restaurant, which contained all my birthday money, important cards, and other valuables. Unfortunately, they were stolen. I independently filed a police report. However, the store claims that there are no cameras in the area where the hibachi grills are located. I have a bright neon green wallet that is easily noticeable. The store informed me that it was possibly stolen or thrown away. The manager, Petter M, expressed a desire for our departure to make room for new guests. I am perplexed that no one saw my neon green wallet, which had over $300 in it. Look at the picture. I recommend this pricey hibachi place with reservations. I had a relatively good time at the Independence Wasabi with my group for our business lunch, but we all agreed the show was not that interesting and the food was WAY WAY WAY TOO SALTY! (I haven't gotten back all my sense of taste and smell from when I lost it back in January 2023 due to Covid, so if I say the food is way too salty, you know there's a problem.) I mentioned that the show wasn't that great. The chef didn't do any tricks or make it worth watching at all. He just kind of.... cooked. A meal and a show is the whole point for overpaying for some noodles and a protein! He also kind of judged me for not taking the "standard" meal. Excuse me?? Also, I didn't want any rice and only a little bit of noodles, asking for extra veggies to make up for it. I did not receive any extra veggies. But I do have to say the veggie mix was tasty (the mushrooms were a 10/10!) and my chicken was moist and flavorful (well, as flavorful as my affected taste buds can tell!) The ginger salad was also very fresh and tasty. I thought the lunch menu also came with miso soup and was hoping to have some, but the soup never came. Also, the chairs are WAYYY too close together. Like, I get that they want to pack as many people in as possible at each station, but c'mon. I'm a thin woman and was elbow to elbow with the people on both sides. Ridiculous. In all, we might just have had a bad chef so your experience may vary but my experience at Wasabi was pretty mediocre. read more

Today, August 18th, my husband and I dined in at Wasabi. I ordered the Seafood Trio and he ordered the chicken and steak (see attached receipt). While eating, I discovered an under cooked piece of chicken had (accidently, I'm sure, but still) been put on my plate. I informed our server, who informed the manager, who offered to have my food remade "in the back." That is all. No apology, no offer to comp a portion of the bill, nothing. And, considering I could have eaten said piece of chicken and gotten violently ill, offering to remake my food was not nearly enough to make it right. I got the food to go, since it was nearly closing time, and the quality of said food was mid, at best (see attached photos). Extremely disappointed at how management handled the situation. read more

We made reservations for Sunday the 9th, they wrote it down as SATURDAY the 9th. Wrong day right date. They treated us like it was our fault and was very rude. We did get fitted but they serviced other tables before us who came in after us. The guy preparing the food was great, waitress seem irritated by us because of how HER manager treatd us. Was not very friendly. We were told they were going to handle people who had reservations first which we did, error was on their part as far as the day. I will visit here any time soon. read more

I havent been here for awhile...so I was disappointed with my recent visit. I asked to swap an item for another - asked if there would be an upcharge..the waitress said no. We chatted then about how up charges were basically unnecessary. She then asked if we wanted white rice or fried. One of us opted for fried. And she never mentioned that it was an extra $3! Even after our conversation. To make it worst it was just rice with soy sauce. No vegetables, pork or egg to be found. The entranceway could really use a clean-up. Windows and handles were pretty dirty. I know this NE Ohio and our weather is ridiculous, but you can get rid of the bag of salt. It is July 1st, and there is a bag sitting on the window ledge. The bench at the entrance for guests here was completely ripped-up . Time to trash it and buy a new one. The plexiglass divider on the hostess stand was dirty, with multiple signs taped to it. I think a hostess stand should be more presentable. The appearance, the blah food, and the so-called fried rice..never returning here again. I used to love coming here. read more

Excellent sushi! This is a great spot for us when we crave that taste We came with a large group in March and most of the group had hibachi. It was a busy Friday night and we were seated at a hibachi table (per our reservation). I cannot tell you how uncomfortable we all were with the heat. I've been to many hibachi places and they tend to be warm because, well... duh... THEY MAKE FIRE IN FRONT OF YOU. But I've never felt it like this. Even when they weren't cooking, we were dying. We were all pulling off layers and sweaters and guzzling water. Some were sweating profusely. Even our normal freeze babies were dying from the heat. It made the experience very very unenjoyable. Our food was great, our chef very talented, and our server worked very hard. It's a little pricey, but I feel the value of the food and service made it worth the price. However, the uncomfortable hot dining room is not for me and I won't go back for hibachi. My pal and I went for sushi a few weeks ago and sat at a table in the bar area. We were very comfortable. I hate giving Wasabi such a low rating because typically we have a fun time there! However, today we called to see about getting a reservation and we're informed they no longer take reservations but then I got a text follow up asking me to reply with details if I'd like reservations which was just odd. The part that was so frustrating though was that the woman I spoke to informed me should could not tell me how long the wait was and that I had to come in to see? Overall I'd rather eat at a place that wants me there than give my money to a place that makes it such an unwelcoming experience even before we walk through the door. 2 stars since it is part of the same chain as the one in Medina that is always awesome. read more

They pre-tipped themselves on our check and they definitely were not worth what they tipped themselves and we did not have a large party. It was two on a bill. Inside of the building was really nice along with the outside, but the meal was over, priced along with the, bad service and them tipping themselves what they wanted not what they were worth. Took my daughter to Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse - Independence October 26. Apparently on that day for whatever reason something was going on with their credit card machine they charge three of my cards three separate transactions for one bill. Claiming the first two never went through even though I showed them that on my end, it went through... fast-forward to a week later I go into the establishment to show them that all three transactions " did clear. Spoke to the manager, Bao, who told me she would look into it by calling her processing center and get back with me, a week later I ended up having to call myself because she never reached out to me. I called only to hear from another manager that there was nothing they could find yet here I am with three credit card statements... three transactions from Wasabi. I was told to email them which I did on November 16, 2024 and I have yet to hear anything from them. Since I got no response, I decided to go to the BBB they reached out to the company and I received an email yesterday that the company has not responded to them either. The hostess and all other staff were rude and not accommodating. We had a large party and they seemed unable to deal with our party in a professional and efficient way. At the stand it says 18% gratuity (parties of four or more) ...we were charged 20% and they charge a 3% credit card processing fee. I will not ever eat at this Wasabi again. If you are looking for a place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary Wasabi is a good place to do it! The food is excellent, and come in HUGE portions. I can stretch my left overs into two meals. I went there tonight with my friend and was incredibly disappointed. I got the chicken teriyaki and it had a horrid texture/smell that made me sick. I couldn't even finish my meal. We were not told there was an up charge for fried rice instead of white rice which would've been the right/professional thing to tell us. My friend was also told she couldn't substitute the rice for noodles so she paid extra for the fried rice AND got a side of noodles. In the area visiting and decided to stop in for dinner after it was recommended. It was 8 pm and we sat for 30-45 minutes before a waitress ever came over to greet us and take drink orders. Then while the chef was cooking the waitress was leaning with a tray of drinks and it fell and broke all over the grill and glass hit several ladies sitting at our table. They wanted to then make the food in the back because now it's after 10 pm and they were closed. They brought the bills and no compensation for the inconvenience of a really long dinner and delay in service. We asked for the manager as the entire table of 7 guests, 3 different parties were not happy. She offered 20% off, what a slap in the face. Second when we were seated our water was Logan, super sweet and accommodating! Then came our chef, Dede. When I tell you this man made the night I'm not kidding, even though he was hilarious!
