I hired Flooring Direct Temecula to replace the flooring throughout my home. On June 22, 2026, I signed a contract for laminate flooring and paid the required deposit to pay for materials. The installation began but stopped abruptly after only part of the flooring was installed because there were no remaining materials. What followed was one of the worst customer service nightmares I have ever had. For more than two weeks, the owner, Bill Norris, completely disappeared. My repeated phone calls and text messages went unanswered. I received absolutely no communication explaining why my home had been left in pieces. During that same time: * The installer told me he had not been paid. * The delivery driver told me he could not reach Bill. * A salesperson ( His son Billy) at Flooring Direct Temecula also told me he could not get Bill to answer his calls. Think about that for a moment. Not only could the customer not reach the owner, but his own employees and subcontractors couldn't reach him either. Because no one would communicate with me, I had to investigate the situation myself. I contacted the flooring manufacturer directly and discovered that only part of my flooring order had ever been purchased. The remaining flooring required to finish my home was sitting at the manufacturer because it had never been paid for. As the homeowner, I was told I could not obtain my own flooring because only the contractor could authorize and pay for its release. Meanwhile, my home was left with exposed subfloors, furniture piled everywhere, and rooms that were unusable. No phone call. No explanation. No plan. No concern for the customer. I ultimately had to open a dispute with Chase Visa to protect my money. I also filed felony charges!!!!!!!!!!! Only after I escalated the situation and informed Bill that I was involving the police to document what had happened and finally pressed formal criminal charges did he finally contact me. This entire situation could have been handled differently with honest communication. Instead, I was left chasing answers from installers, delivery drivers, and manufacturers because the person responsible for my project simply disappeared. This wasn't simply a delayed job. This was a complete breakdown in communication and professionalism that left my family living in an unfinished construction zone while we had no idea whether our project would ever be completed. I strongly encourage anyone considering Flooring Direct Temecula to do extensive research, verify everything independently, and understand exactly who is responsible for your project before paying a deposit. That's saying a lot because my family moved into a brand new build back in 2017, so we have had many, many people come through for projects. What made my experience with Gerald so great was absolutely everything that matters. He was always on time, always responsive, always a perfectionist, and always pleasant (no matter how early in the morning or late in the evening he was working). I am known by those close to me as an extreme perfectionist. Gerald is the one person who absolutely never let me down with his work (although it could be more accurately described as art). I'm the type of person who if I see one thing that looks off, it will eat at me literally every time I pass through that room. Gerald installed tile and baseboards both inside and outside of my house and after walking through those areas countless times, I still have yet to see anything that doesn't look absolutely perfect. Aside from being an absolute master of his craft, Gerald is incredibly generous with his time. He treats every project as if the house he's working on is the house that his family comes home to everyday. For example, while I was doing a walk through with him after everything was wrapping up, I was ready to sign everything off and thank him for a job well done. Well, during the walk through, Gerald pointed out a couple of things that were bothering him and he vowed to come back the next day to fix them even though I didn't even notice anything was off. So, if I'm an extreme perfectionist, then I guess Gerald is in a class all by himself. Even after making those extremely detail oriented fixes, Gerald came back to patch things up on his own time and also to clean up the mess that some other installers left on their job. Specifically, they chipped a few of the baseboards that he installed and straight up took an entire corner piece off the wall. The look of horror on his face when he saw the damage they did to his perfectly installed baseboards said it all. The man looked like someone absolutely ripped his soul out. It really spoke to how seriously he takes his jobs and how much pride he takes in his work. I really wish this level of pride and passion were more prevalent in all people when it comes to their chosen professions. Overall, I could go on and on with reasons why you should go with this business and not even think twice.
