Back story first: My car was rear-ended while I was sleeping. The guy was awesome and left and note but I still had a giant ass dent in my rear bumper. What to do?! ICBC was great (I KNOW!) and the whole insurance deal was easy. The hard part was figuring out what to do next. My car dealership recommended a repair shop that's also an authorized estimator but when I called, I hung up feeling distinctly unimpressed by them. I know, quick to jump to an impression. What can I say? That's the most exercise I get! So I checked ICBC's website and called them to see how long it would take to get an appointment with an ICBC estimator. Way too long, dudes. Way too long. We are BAD DRIVERS in Richmond it seems. Back to their website I go and I found a listing of repair shops that are also estimators and pick the one closest to my work. Tah dah! Kirmac. Confession: I tend to be quite influenced by commercials. I've heard the name often enough to think, "Eh, I'm sure everything will be fine." This one time, commercials didn't lie. Super friendly staff at the counter (he's also their estimator), so polite and the office area is clean and organized. It was no hassle with anything. Loaner car? No problem. How long will it take? They said 3 days and it took 2. My baby looks like new and yes, I'm one of "those people" who refer to my vehicle as a baby. It's one of my weird peccadillos, sue me. Definite recommend. Just be careful driving in to their lot. They're an island in a sea of one way streets and the drive way to their front door is only wide enough for 1 car at a time. read more

ICBC told us to find a repair shop so we took our car to Kirmac since we've been there before when our front window was chipped on the highway. This time our car had been in a minor collision. The driver & passenger doors had to be fixed. Kirmac was courteous, quick to repair & gave us a great new courtesy car. Our car was ready in a week & we paid the deposit & was off. At my request, they also painted the back fender which was chipped from someone rear ending the car in the parking lot (hit & run & not worth going to ICBC). They only charged $100 extra. I have had a number of vehicles repaired at this location for 5-6 yrs. A couple of times everything went really well and a couple of times not so well. On the times things didn't go well, branch and regional managers went out of their way to make sure issues were corrected. They have also repaired little things (like loose mud guard) for me free of charge. read more

I had some time to kill and remembered that this place was nearby...I needed a stone chip filled in my windshield before it spiderwebbed, so I stopped in to see if they could help me. Right away, Kim the receptionist was super friendly and helpful. She explained the price and procedure. I wasn't sure if BCAA would cover this service, and was about to give them a call, when she asked me to wait a sec. She went to speak with the manager and came back with the amazing news that they would do it for me while I waited, as a customer courtesy! I was shocked...who ever expects anything for free these days? The procedure was quick -- I thumbed through one of the newspapers they had out in the waiting room and it was done soon after. Not only that, but they even gave my car a quick wash. I've never had such a pleasant experience with a repair shop, and will definitely keep them in mind if I ever have to have any body work done again. read more

Just recently I finally found the time to look for a collision repair shop for an accident that happened quite a while ago. It wasn't our fault so it was all covered by the insurance company. I tried calling a competitor of Kirmac and unfortunately for them, no one was answering their phones. I called Kirmac and was greeted by a very friendly fellow by the name of Jackson. He owned the situation and made sure we had a suitable loaner vehicle ( a newer minivan ). Thanks! And this is where the good part ends. We received our minivan back after a week of repairs. Fair enough. But when we started driving off, my wife noticed that the collision detection system was detecting cars around the vehicle but there were no vehicles around her. And added to that fact, the sensors wouldn't go on when there were vehicles in her blind spots! WTF!! At one point, the sensors (the lit arrows in our side view mirrors) would remain on for an entire trip in our van. So I brought the vehicle back and the relief Manager who works there on Monday, looked at the vehicle and had it inspected by their "trained professionals" found nothing wrong. Even had their computers hooked up to my vehicle and couldn't find any error codes. So he came back to me and said we can't find anything wrong. You'll need to take it to Chrysler. WHAT?!! I am very limited for time so I had to wait a week to book an appointment with Columbia Chrysler based on their availability and mine. After three hours of waiting, and after removing the bumper, which is what Kirmac should've done, they found out that Kirmac Collision services installed the sensors BACKWARDS!! That's right, BACKWARDS, the sensors were sensing my vehicle instead of those around me. Now who has to pay for the huge $357 diagnostic charge for finding this epic screwup? At first, Chrysler said I would but I called the relief manager and after explaining to him about his "trained professionals" mistake, not even an apology, he said we can be billed. The only good thing about all this. So next time make sure you check with the dealership to see who they would recommend for collision repairs. If this saves one person from a frustrating experience. Goodie! I'm never going back to Kirmac. I gave them two stars only because of Jackson. Otherwise, is it possible to give a negative rating? read more

In March 2017 my brand new 2017 Kia Forte was damaged in a hit and run accident and based on reviews and their charitable contributions I decided to take my car to Kirmac Richmond south. This turned out to be a huge mistake that would take months to have fixed! I was told that here was $1500 damage done to the back bumper and a few scuff and it should take only a few days to repair. The day I was to pick it up I was told that there was more damage than they first thought and they would need it an extra day. When my daughter and I went to pick up the car I was really disappointed because the bumper had not been aligned properly and when I pointed it out, it was taken back to the shop for a quick fix. When the car was brought back to me nothing had changed so I told the young man helping me that it was going to have to be resolved. He told me to pick it up the following day, When I returned the following day, my car had not been touched and the manager told me he had no idea that I was returning for my car. I was beginning to get angrier at this point. He assured me that the car would be ready the next day for pick up. He asked what the issue was and I told him that the bumper wasn't aligned properly, it was butted up against the quarter panel. I should add, that as a woman, I was treated like I had no idea what I was talking about and felt the need to let them know that my brother had been in autobody for over 40 years and that I done done my fair share of sanding bondo, taping etc. Upon returning for the third time, my car was still exactly the way it was the day prior. I was angry and continued to try and explain that the alignment was off. I even ran a business through the gap in the bumper to show that the spacing was uneven because the manager was having trouble grasping the concept. I'm not sure whether it was a language issue but then another employee, who I know was new and had been training throughout this whole ordeal, asked me to come into the office so he could show me something. He proceeded to show me the pictures that were taken when the estimate was done and pointed out a picture of the damage to my bumper and told me that the spacing came that way from the factory. I totally lost it then and told the guy that the spacing was from the accident with a few expletives thrown in. I had lost all patience and told them that I would let ICBC deal with them as they were all seemed unqualified and very unprofessional. On the way home, it started to rain and when my windows began to fog up and I turned on my wipers I could hear a grating noise and the rain would not clear. Upon further inspection it was determined that the grease pencilled specs that had been written on the windshield had never been cleaned properly and then the car was coated in dust or dirt and then the ENTIRE car was clear coated!! And I am not just talking about some over spray, which will happen. The layer on the windshield was 1/16" think and it was on all of the windows, INCLUDING under the rain guards!! We took the car to ICBC where the claims centre manager examined the car and said that in all of his years he had never seen anything like it. He contacted the regional manager for Kirmac, Grayson Sung who asked us to bring the car back and they would take car of fixing the issues. My husband told him we did not want the work done at the same location and he agreed that the bumper would be repaired at the north Richmond location and then it would be sent to a detailer in Vancouver to be clay barred to remove the over spray. When we went to pick up the car the first thing the regional manager said when we exited our car was to tell my husband to be reasonable. We hadn't even viewed the car yet and it appeared that he knew there were still issues. My husband told him that we would be going over the car with a fine tooth comb and we found more and more issues, including the thick layer of clear coat on the windshield, and he continued to tell us to be reasonable. I looked at him and told him that we were being reasonable. I brought my brand new, 5 month old car in for a minor repair and the F*$#ed it up!We left at that point as Grayson was not being reasonable as he kept suggesting that we should use razor blades or steel wool on the glass to remove the over spray and the bumper was still not aligned properly. We went back to ICBC to have them document the continued issues. We filed a claim with our secondary insurance and the adjuster (who just happened to be a former autobody technician) found numerous issues with my car, damage that had been done by Kimac during what they called "repairs". It was also determined, that the entire had been intentionally clear coated because it would be nearly impossible to have that much overs prayed. It took over 4 months to have this repaired properly and the $1500 dollar initial repair is up of $7000 dollars due mostly to Kimac's negligence. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! read more

I will never go to Kirmac again. I took my car in to be painted (vandalism). I was told it would take 4 or 5 days. On the 5th day I received a call that the car would take another week. I went to look at my car in the shop and they hadn't started on it. The reasons they told me for the delay: "painting a car takes a long time; our painter went on vacation; we would have to shut our shop down and dedicate 3 guys to get your car done in 4 days! I don't know why you were told it would be done by Thursday; ICBC takes a while to process the file." Never once did they say the truth: "we over booked ourselves and decided to stick you with a long delay in repairing your car." Because of the delay I had to cancel a trip that affected several people. I don't have a car phone in the rental that I rely on for work and I don't feel comfortable in the cheap rental I'm stuck with - for another week! I drive a great deal during the work week. As well I don't trust Kirmac. The people at Kirmac are so dishonest I fear the work they do will be as shoddy as their customer service policies. I will be reporting them to ICBC as should others with complaints. Hopefully this will prevent someone else having to go through this frustration. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! I would give them 0 if it was possible. I brought my car in to get one of the back doors replaced because I was hit by another car while driving in the snow. It took two weeks to fix, then it was problem after problem after this. As someone who claims 80% of the car expenses for taxes, I was required to pay the 80% GST of the repair. Initially ICBC noted 100% on my file, but was updated before I took the car into the shop. It seemed like the file Kirmac had was not updated, so I sent Matthew (who was working at the front desk) the email that says to pay 80% of the GST, since he said he needs a copy of the letter. This was at the start of Feburay. These are the many screw ups that happened in my one repair: #1: Picked up my car two weeks later, the amount I was charged seemed high, but paid anyway. 10min after leaving the shop, I recieved a call saying that they made a mistake and needed to charge my card another $100! I asked why it was so expensive, and I found out they were charging me the $300 deductible, which I was not suppose to have to pay. So after "reviewing" the file, they refunded me the amount overcharged. #2: They did a terrible repair job, and after a day of driving, the rubber trim under the window was coming off. I called right away, and they asked me to bring the car back in. When I took the car in they told me they have to order the part so I have to come back again in a few days for the actual fix. #3: When the part came in I was told it would take 10min to fix. It ended up taking 45min because the repair person ended up going for lunch. So while I was waiting (and at this point I had no trust in these guys), I decided to double check what % of the GST I was charged. Matthew, the same person I talked to the first day I came to this shop, said that the file on the computer said I had to pay 100% of the GST. So basically, HE FORGOT TO UPDATE THE FILE AND OVERCHARGED ME. He didn't even recall reading the email, so I had to show him the email I forwarded HIM weeks ago because HE had asked me to. By this time my car was done so he told me that he will have the manager approve the reimbursement and call me by the end of the day to confirm it. #4: TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE WORKERS. Never received the call so I called them back the next afternoon. Seemed like the manager was not even aware of the situation and needed to call me back after he looks through everything. The manager then calls back and says the file says I need to pay 100% of the GST. Again, was not updated. I explained to him that I spoke to Matthew the first day I went in, sent him the email, he forgot to update the file, and I was overcharged. Manager had no idea of any of this. He then needed to figure things out so called me back later. When he called back, they said the file is already closed so they cannot reimburse me and I needed to talk to ICBC and figure it out through them. I was so frustrated at this point over their screw ups, I told him to figure it out because they made the error. He again called me back saying that he talked to my ICBC adjuster and Kirmac headoffice, but they told me I have to go to a ICBC location to pick up the reimbursement cheque (and they will not send it to me via mail some reason). Super annoyed, I went to ICBC the next day and they told me they don't give out cheques. I called my ICBC adjuster to figure out what the heck was going on, and she had no idea any of this was happening. SO clearly, Kirmac never contacted my adjuster and was making things up. She said she will talk to Kirmac directly and figure it out. I eventually got the reimbursement cheque in the mail. #5: As an "apology" for making me drive around and go to the shop multiple times, the manager said that he will get me a Gas Card. He said I can pick it up at the store or have it sent to the house, so I obviously asked him to send it to my address. It's been a month and still no apology letter or gas card has arrived. I will never go Kirmac again, and will strongly advise anyone not to go here. read more

We were delighted with the results of the repair to our Civic - it looks brand new, perhaps in part because they also washed it inside and out before returning it. This was my first ICBC claim, rear bumper mishap, in 45 years of driving so I didn't know what to expect. A friend had recommended Kirmac Richmond to me and said they were very nice. Well, from the first phone call I made to bringing my vehicle in and meeting Kevin, the Manager and his front desk man, Nathan, I felt so welcomed and taken care of. I was standing only for a minute alone while a photocopy was being made and another service person came by and asked me if I had been helped. Kevin explained the procedure in detail and inspected my vehicle. All was taken care of with ease by him and I felt very confident in leaving my vehicle. A nice clean car was waiting for me in the interim. My vehicle was ready to be picked up within a few days and I was also given a heads up on the time frame for pick up. Now I know how long it takes to get parts as my husband has been in the automotive/heavy duty industry for 43 years, so the quick return really floored me - 3 days. When picking up my car I was met by Scott who was also ever so congenial and took the time to explain the details of repair to me. They also did some personal repairs, pulling out deep dents from people banging their carts and scraping my doors (grrrr-sorry, venting-lol) and did an amazing job!!! I took my new car in for what I thought would be a simple task, small scrape on the back of my bumper, customer service was fine, but bodywork is not good, the job was completed in one day, which is fine if it is done correctly, once I looked over the bumper I noticed a rough edge on the corner of the bumper, clearly the body shop people are there to finish the job quickly and sacrifice quality, but I don't see how that could be missed if you are double checking your work. I called Kirmac to inform them of this issue, and they start off by saying "I don't believe that was an area that we were working on", which obviously they were as the whole bumper needed to be repainted, at this point I was angry with their response, I informed them my car is essentially brand new 2015 model, clearly I am going to know if something isn't done right on a brand new vehicle, it wasn't until I said I will deal with my insurance company directly to rectify this situation that their attitude changed, probably didn't want to lose the accredited rating from ICBC, they offered to repaint the bumper which I accepted as the car is new, point of the matter is if you are fixing a new car or one in real good condition, look elsewhere I wouldn't go back there, I am being generous with the 2 star rating, Craftsman Collision does a way better job. read more
