Ricotta cheese was definitely fresh. The whole bird sand which was quite exquisite, as my tastebuds reveled in the salt of the fried chicken skin and the gooey goodness of the egg on top. I've been to Kitchen Table twice during my trip to Omaha. I had their salad (and added the whole birds chicken) and breakfast set. Both tasted amazing and their popcorn was a wonderful addition. I also ordered their house made soda. I prefer the Apple Cinnamon over the ginger ale, though both are solid optionals! Their service was great and I liked the fact that you could customize the menu. Also, when my friend got the wrong order the first time, the owner brought soup for him during the wait. That was very nice of them. Why only 4 stars? I do think their chicken salad was too salty. My random bites had salt grains, which I think is unnecessary. I believe other reviews have pointed out their saltiness with the whole birds option. I would agree as well! read more

My husband LOVES this place and everything about it...and I'm on board for any place that has wine on tap! However, I feel like everything tastes very smokey which I don't like. I figured the nut butter and jelly sandwich would be a safe bet but even that was smokey due to the grilled bread...I'll try a salad next time. read more

Wow. Three reasons this place is terrific: 1. The food. I got the 3-bean burger with pesto and it was So Good, I didn't put it down. I just let pesto run down my hands and onto the plate. It tasted like love on a bun. 2. Happy hour. You can get a craft beer for $3! Get there before 6. 3. Eating with your eyes. It's true: you start enjoying your food with your eyes. The presentation of this food was not fussy. It was simple but careful. That matters to me. PS I'm vegan. But I'm not a preachy vegan. PLEASE eat whatever you want. I'm not your mom. I have no idea how this place is getting any positive reviews. We ordered our food and, despite seeing other tables who came in after us served, we waited nearly 45 minutes for three simple meals. When the food did show up after multiple inquiries, there was no apology and the excuse given was that everything is made to order and that they were very busy. Bacon and eggs? A grilled cheese sandwich? A meatloaf sandwich? How long can they take even if made to order? Busy? The restaurant was half empty! They obviously flubbed our order, and instead of apologizing, just made ridiculous, illogical excuses. I also saw more than one other party waiting obviously impatiently for their food. To add insult to injury, the food was not very good. The deviled eggs were bland and tasteless. The grilled cheese sandwich was not bad, but you can't really mess that up. Ditto for the bacon and eggs. The meatloaf sandwich fell apart in my hands as though they just shoved a bunch of loose, ground beef between two slices of bread and the seasoning and the sandwich spread they used were odd to put it politely. Their food is very good and unique. The quality is very good and very unique flavors when you're eating something you did not expect to show up. Their prices are the reason why they did not get a five story of you they seem very high for the amount of food you actually get. I was looking for a filling but light meal after a long flight. Enter The Kitchen Table. I wanted to avoid chain restaurants and try something local. Loved the environment and set up. I ordered the winter bean soup and the veggie dog sandwich. The portions were filling enough for one meal. Loved the soup and the freshly prepared sandwich. Cool cool in the Old Market, about 10' from the airport. I grew up in Nebraska but have long since left the typical Midwest cuisine behind me ... so to my surprise to find a little SoCal in Omaha. Quaint shotgun style restaurant with an open kitchen and great all-day type of eats - meaning I could eat anything on their menu any time of the day. We had the whole chicken which was a very flattened grilled chicken breast with a big chunk chicken salad on a bed of mixed greens and crispy chicken skin (think bacon x pork rinds but saltier). And it was topped with a soft fried egg. Yummy!' I also liked the seasoned popcorn side instead of the potato chip or side of fries option. Great choice of non-alcohols beverages too. I had a ginger-ale and the H had a vanilla soda. It was a nice not too large meal for a warm day. It was also the Omaha Summer Arts festival on the street. read more

Eclectic mid Western menu with something to suit the taste of the vegan and the carnivore. I had the meatloaf over grits w/ a local cheddar. It was a good concept and I could see the potential but the meatloaf was scorched and overpowered what would have otherwise been a good dish. Between scorched meatloaf and a horde of flies I think this is a worthwhile stop but they missed on my visit. read more

I ordered the whole chicken salad. It may have been the freshest tasting salad I have ever eaten. The crispy chicken on top was a salty treat. I wasn't a fan of the popcorn because of some of the spices used but that is just a personal preference. I will definitely back and can't wait to try the other items on the menu. read more

TL;DR - Not as good as Block 16, but still great. I hate comparing one place to another, but having eaten at Block 16 not two days before it was hard not to. I loved sitting at the "bar" and watching the chefs make everything fresh. Great farm-to-table ingredients, and another set of relatively inventive sandwiches to pick from. I had the meatloaf, and I really enjoyed it. The popcorn was great as well. Their pickle (with the beautiful addition of cumin) was also great. Everyone else at the table was pleased as well. I sampled a whitefish sandwich and a veggie sandwich and really enjoyed them as well. But if I had to pick, I'd go back to Block 16 over Kitchen Table. read more

The water is even served in mason jars. It feels like it's trying way too hard for its vibe. All this being said, the food is good! But when the portions are simultaneously small and overpriced, I'm not sure that the quality of the food matters too much. I have been here a handful of times, but my favorite thing is "the whole bird", a crispy chicken sandwich with a fried egg. It is delicious but I've had it a few times and am always still hungry afterwards. read more

Went here for lunch yesterday for the first time. Staff was friendly and super into what they were selling. I had someone who was obviously pretty new on the job, but he had his stuff down and answered all my newbie question. I ended up getting their toasted PB & J which was a rhubarb and some fruit I don't know jelly. I eat like a 12 year old and was taking a personal risk here. Turns out the combination was delicious. It was a beautiful day so we are outside and my food was delivered quickly with two pizza slice sized PB & J sandwiches and a side of popcorn! So Yelp suggested Kitchen Table I found it with ease. The streets of Omaha aren't busy but it def has an old town feel that I love. It came with a side of popcorn: cute, but I'd prefer to be given a choice, specially if I need a real filler after that tiny sandwich. I had a little indigestion afterwards, hence the 1* on ingredients. Waitress/cashier was nice, but kind of rushed me when there was absolutely nobody waiting behind me. Decor is nice, tasteful, nice but not too fancy, and they were playing some pretty dope jazz. I feel they think they're hip and too cool for school, but they either were having a bad day or need to step up their game or lower prices. This place is my go-to for lunch and brunch. My friend and I try to go once a week if we are free, and always when her parents are here visiting. It's a little more expensive than other places, but it's definitely worth it. The sandwiches are pretty big and you get popcorn with it. Some of them are seasonal, so if it's there I always get the Bourbon pulled pork. My friend and I usually check their instagram or twitter beforehand to see their daily special. Their brunches are incredible and you get a lot of food for about 15 dollars if you pick the 1-2-3. It's toast, then you get to pick one thing from a group of two (usually coffee cake or radishes) then a group of three (my personal favorites include the strata and french toast). Other top choices include their chili and deviled eggs. The owners and everyone who works there are super nice and accommodating. It can get really crowded for lunch but they always do their best to make sure you get a seat. I have not eaten anything there I did not like. Super fresh and super good! read more

I want to take Kitchen Table home with me to Denver. They have such a light, refreshing, and interesting menu! Will S and I stopped in here for a quick bite and I order a cauliflower sandwich, which I realize might sound a little gross or even bland unless you really loooove cauliflower, but it was so dang good. It was made with pan seared cauliflower, fresh mozzarella cheese, and pepper jam among other things and I devoured it. I also love that they serve their sandwiches with a side of popcorn. In addition to our sandwiches Will and I shared these little bits of baked heaven that where kind of like biscuits that had cheese and herbs baked into the batter. They would have been so perfect with soup, but they were also good enough on their own that we ate them all. I highly recommend this cute little restaurant for lunch! read more

First time! Wow let me just say that this place will blow your socks off... The menu is perfect size for accommodating every taste buds needs, I tried the 9.00$ THE CURE sandwich and made the right first choice sandwich. I had to listen to them complain the rest of the weekend about how bad the ginger ale was. Both of them got the burger and were surprised with how good it was after their disappointment of the soda. KT has quickly become my favorite place to eat downtown. Service: speedy. Atmosphere: clean, green, natural vibe, and great tunes. Staff: super sweet and they know their stuff. Prices: very fair. Menu: well edited, but something for everyone. Portions: perfectly sized - I don't leave feeling stuffed, yet I rarely leave a crumb on my plate. And most importantly, the food: it's amazing! Healthy, fresh, unique flavor profiles. They source many ingredients from local farmers and also make a lot of their own stuff: pickles, ricotta, soda syrups, sauces & spreads, bread. Freshly prepared components that are ready to be combined in thoughtful and deliciously simple ways... Kitchen Table is what my home kitchen aspires to be. They have at least one lunch special every day, and they're always brilliant!
