We had a great brunch at Summer Kitchen. I had the Denver omelette with fruit and a biscuit. The omelette was stuffed with veggies, including spinach, I think, which was unexpected but didn't detract from the dish. The melon was fresh and the biscuits hot and flakey. My companions had a potato casserole and some kind of burger, but I don't recall the details. I was probably too focused on my own meal, but they each got the morning glory muffins with their orders, which they loved. All of us enjoyed our food and had leftovers. The only downside was the noise. It was a very crowded Saturday morning, loud enough that hearing was difficult at times. Our waitress was very attentive despite the crowd, keeping our water and coffee topped up. Next time we'll come on a weekday. read more

I've always had fast and friendly service either dining in or driving through. The biscuits and gravy here are bomb! My entire family loves them. Oh also the soups...bye...so good! Food options are really good for breakfast or lunch. I ordered their chicken stirfry lighter fare. I thought the chicken was very thin, not much to it, and there were plenty of vegetables with rice. It was flavorful and light. It came with a choice of muffin or dinner roll, which I got blueberry muffin. That is very moist and yummy!!! Our service was quick and friendly. This was a great no frills brunch spot, with a HUGE menu to choose from! Their bakery is excellent, and I loved my meal. Nothing spectacular, but a good and large sized brunch. Our server did a good job, despite the place being packed--we were lucky to get a 4 top with a 10 minute wait on Saturday at 10am. My only complaint is the cost of my meal--$30 (including tip) as I was charged an extra $4 for the eggs I was subbing for hashbrowns, and $1.50 for blueberry instead of plain pancakes. This isn't a huge deal but the server could have mentioned that subbing eggs for hashbrowns is $4 when they are the same price on the menu so I assumed it didn't come with a cost (same with the pancake prices). It usually gets pretty loud in here, and the service can be average. But the food typically comes out fast. The main events here are the cinnamon roll (one of my favorite cinnamon rolls around), AND the coffee! There are so many coffee flavors to choose from, and they have pumpkin all year round (YAY!). Stopped in and grabbed a cinnamon roll and a pecan roll. Ate the pecan roll and they don't skip on the pecans. The roll itself was just ok though. Hopefully the regular cinnamon roll is better. I haven't tried any of the other food yet. read more

Lunch for me was a Crispy Chicken Strip Salad with blue cheese dressing and a dinner roll. To say it was average is stretching it. The service was really good and they were all friendly. You can tell they take pride in this place of business. We are traveling and stayed at the hotel next to the restaurant so we tried it out. Overall quality and end result of products vary WILDLY here. It's a crapshoot what you'll get here, no matter how many times you order the same item. (Ex. I loooove me a good latte, but the end result is never the same from visit to visit.) It's also a massive bummer that they're a legitimate "Scooters" but refuse the app, coupons and gift cards. I have dined at Summer Kitchen for years but haven't been back for a while, so I finally wet back today. I called my drive thru order in ahead of time and they said it would be ready in "15-20 minutes". I arrived to find 5 care in line but most people had appeared to also called in before hand and the line went quickly. I noticed the car in front of me had not, but they had him pull around the corner to a door where his order would be delivered when ready. When I got up to the window my order was there and took it home. I ordered the Omaha Potato Casserole and it was simply delightful. The Omaha comes with Ground Beef, and the rest is like a Cheese Burger Casserole. The onions were sautéed, there was an abundance of Cheeses and the pickles were an interesting addition. They have Omelettes that are similar, and dinner menus that I will have to try. The last time here I had the Monte Cristo which was wonderful. I wii be back. read more

Been to the drive thru for a quick dinner . You can order a variety of items that are on their menu . The BLT sandwich is my go to as it's quick and easy . Plenty of bacon , fresh tomatoes and a bed of lettuce . I probably could do without the mayo but it's just a personal preference. Fries or fruit , I can never decide . Fries are nothing special but good enough . They give way many of them so I can finish . Fresh fruit is cut with the skin still on which could be. A good or bad thing . I feel it looks like you get more then you really do . On this occasion the pineapple was good but most of it was the skin so only got a few small bites from it . Waited about 10 minutes behind the store for my food , service was good and they were friendly . Definitely will be back . read more

We've driven by this place several times and finally gave it a try this morning. Didn't get too excited about many of the menu items (like all of the omelets were chicken or ham based). Build your own omelet sounded like my only course but then I happened upon the southwest breakfast burrito. Wow! It was great! Peppers and onions with eggs and sausage, wrapped in a jalapeño tortilla (and I recommend doing the hash browns on the side, they are simple and good). I was on my way into Omaha (from Lincoln) for an early morning meeting and wanted a drive-thru breakfast/coffee option that wasn't fast food greasy (i.e. Burger King or McDonald's) and that also wasn't pop-it-in-the-microwave coffee shop food. I'd never been to Summer Kitchen Cafe and it was right off I-80, so I drove thru. It's more of a coffee shop but the food isn't necessarily pop it in the microwave, though it's not Perkins or the Farmhouse Cafe kind of breakfast either. This particular location had a Scooter's inside it. I had to ask if they have breakfast sandwiches because I didn't see them listed. My meal was good. I got a simple breakfast sandwich. It's like something I could probably make at home but I didn't have to. I like this. It was a nice size too, bigger than I expected. I like that it came cut in half! It was also super cheesy - maybe a little too much cheese. I ordered a fruit cup also and it was a nice portion. The melon, however, was flavorless. I would suggest using more seasonal fruits. read more
