Contacted this company to reface a 60" bathroom cabinet with six drawers and two doors. I was snootily told "we do not do bathrooms" though they would do the bathroom at no less than $2000!! Really! We met Stu at the Home Show in Fairfield. He seemed to be very good and said all of the right things. We scheduled an in-home visit and he showed up as planned. After measuring our kitchen and discussing our options, we scheduled an appointment at his showroom to look at samples and move forward with the kitchen remodel. My wife and I took off work early to meet with Stu at his place of business as scheduled. We arrived early to find his business all locked up. We walked around the place and waited, but nobody showed up. We finally left disappointed after dark. We never heard back from him or anybody at this business. Stu wasted our time, and our hopes of refurbishing our kitchen this year. I would highly recommend you stay away from this guy and place. He is a flake!!! read more

Kitchen Tune-up just completed my kitchen remodel and I couldn't be happier! From the initial meetings with Stu and Curt, to the final coat of paint by Ben and his crew, I found them to be extremely courteous, professional and skilled. It was a complete remodel, and they were able to handle all the aspects of the job without subcontractors which made it much less stressful for me. I have two disabled children and we lived in the house during the work- they were very conscious of this and always left the kitchen clean and accesible in the evening. These guys did a great job and were accommodating as well as professional they went way overboard on the floor protection and cleaned up after themselves. Some how a door and drawer were over looked they ordered to few. I waited a week for it to arrive Stu scheduled it to be finished the following Monday I explained I would be having a small party for fathers day, and he got it don for me on a sat so it would be complete for the party. I would and will refer them to everyone. PS I had signed a contract with home depot the never even called to set up measuring for ten days, then said it would be a month for it just to get measured. That's when I called Kitchen tune up they were $2000 almost 20% less than HD and got it done fast. read more

Although I used this company for the kitchens in 2 of my homes, and was very happy with the work, I was very disappointed when I tried to hire them to work on my bathrooms. I was able to have someone come out...take notes...give me ideas and show me samples...he then said he'd get back to me with an estimate and never did. I called a few times to follow up...as well as email...to no avail. What a waste of time! Thankfully I did find someone who wanted the job. Was asked to review this company on yelp By Stu. Well I wish I could give a 5 Star but can't. We had our kitchen done in mid 2017and all seemed smooth, a few mixups with drawer fronts etc. Shortly after we had one bath cabinet refaced and a sink put in and a new faucet. The faucet is peeling at the base, contacted Stu back a while ago and was told he'd contact the delta rep, never happened. In October of this year (2018) we had new floors installed by another company so I needed the matching trim for around the cabinets. Contacted Stu for the first time on Oct 23, he said he'd order and asked me to review on yelp. Then again a couple weeks later, he forgot to order due to an accident...ok that's understandable...but after many texts and phone calls he never ordered it! About 3 weeks ago I contacted the cabinet company and told them I needed a different company to order from. The wood showed up today...from the other company NOT kitchen tune up. Wish he'd just told me from the get go he didn't want to order it for me :( won't be going back read more

BE AWARE! ‍Do NOT call them total scam artists. Stu and his crew came to do my grandmas kitchen in late July,scheduled it for to be done in about two weeks for counters,cabinets and painting it is now five months later and it is still NOT DONE!! The floor has white wall primer all over it. We are missing two cabinets that we're suppose to be waiting for. No knobs on the cabinets that are in now.She just now got her sink in after a month and a half of walking all the way down the hall to use the bathroom sink and she's old. ALSO we found her contract with NONE of there signature on it,only hers and at the bottom it says VOIDED IF NOT SIGNED. There was no ending date. And also there's a few thousand dollars in miscellaneous use. so leave while you can call someone else! ‍ read more

We are extremely happy with the job that Stu, Richard, Matt, Ben and Jessie did in our 'new' kitchen. Very professional and a pleasure to watch the way that they each knew their job. Our biggest concern was having it completed by Thanksgiving and it was !!! They refaced our cabinets, new sink, can lighting, quartz countertops, painted the kitchen. We really cannot say enough good things about this company and highly recommend them. Stu is working on updating our bathroom now. read more

The owner came out to my house in Vacaville and measured the kitchen for granite counter tops and cabinet refinishing. I was supposed to receive the bid in a few days. Never heard from him and it has now been a couple of months. I have run into contractors like this before and it just doesn't make sense to chase them down. I am happy to report that Kitchen Tune-up came back and fixed the issues I had with my kitchen.

We had Stu come out 3 weeks ago to give us a bid on refinishing some our cabinets. He has not gotten back to us either to say not interested in the job or with a bid. Wonder why he bothered to take the time to come out since we were clear it was not a major remodel Kitchen Tuneup has closed their down town store and Stu said they are looking at another location. We have called a general contractor recommended by a friend. Sad as we wanted to do help out a local business. read more

What a joke. Don't let them put your counters in. Owner did not measure correctly or give me an opportunity to approve the CAD layout. Ended up with a kid size overhang from the counter. I can't even get a bar stool under it. Owner would not fix it and had the nerve to invoice me the full amount. Only time he showed up at the house was to collect money, Keep away and hire someone who uses US citizens to do the work. read more

We had pullouts installed in our cabinets. The pullout for the pots and pan drawer came apart less than a year later. They came and took it and repaired it. It lasted awhile and broke again. Stu came out an looked at it and said he would repair it. Weeks later I heard nothing. He said it had to be rebuilt stronger. It was always intended to be a pot drawer . I have called and called. It is now over 3 weeks. Today when I called him, he said he forgot to check on it. Meanwhile, I have pots and pans all over the counter. Not happy. I seem to be a very low priority. read more

The cabinetry came in several weeks after it was promised and there was no communication on the owners part. The workers professionalism when they came to install is the only good thing I can say about Kitchen Tune Up. I was expecting when I hired them that when they finished I would have a new kitchen. They didn't install the plumbing for the sinks or the microwave which Stu said he would. For several weeks I tried calling to find out when they would complete the job. He wouldn't return my phone calls. I had to hire someone else to do the work they should have completed. I requested a custom cabinet to discretely tuck away a small step ladder to reach the upper cabinets. What I got was my counter top shortened by about eight (8) inches so now I have an excessively large gap between the refrigerator and where the cabinets end. My counter top space was already very limited! There was no thought given to the electrical for the stove as the new cabinets covered it up. I had to have an outside contractor do the work. The electrical box for the stove was also partially covered by the new cabinets. For the bathroom vanity the opening for the under mounted sink was not cut in the right place not allowing enough room for the back-splash I ordered and the hole was cut too large. I purchased a mosaic tile to replace the stone back splash I wanted and the people he sent over to do the install ruined the tile I bought by removing the individual mosaics from their backing; I have no clue how the guy was intending to install these tiny little mosaic tiles one by one! I requested from Stu if it was possible to get baseboards to match the vanity and linen closet to keep everything uniform. Stu said it was no problem. On a couple of occasions after the install of the vanity and linen closet I asked him what was going on with the baseboards and the missing hardware for the vanity. He didn't know, only to say it had been ordered. I honestly doubt they were ordered at all. You can visit the office and see the different woods and finishes and select from samples a counter-top that you will like but what you don't get to see is the actual cabinets themselves. To add insult to injury is the poor craftsmanship of the cabinets themselves. They used this laminate wood grain with a sticky backing which is already peeling up at the edges. On the upper-cabinets you can see where they used these plastic tabs and staples to hold the cabinets together. For the corner cabinets there are lazy susans which are constructed of flimsy plastic which I'm sure wont last long before they brake. I would NEVER recommend Kitchen Tune-Up to anyone. I have never been as dissatisfied with a company as I am with this one. When you hear about remodeling nightmares, look no further than this company. read more

We had a great experience while designing and having the cabinets installed, but now that we have had the cabinets in for just over a year Stu will not return our phone calls regarding some issues we are having with the cabinet hinges. After many years of trying to find the right contractor to remodel my kitchen who I felt would do a good job as well as stay within my price range, I found Kitchen Tune-up of Fairfield. I dealt with Stu who is the owner. I found Stu to be a very honest and professional individual. Stu was able to work within my budget and style and was very accommodating to my needs. I was reluctant to use him at first, simply because I didn't know of anyone personally who had used him. I took a chance and I couldn't be happier and satisfied with the work. His crew, Richard and Matt were exceptional, very meticulous with their work, and very experienced. I had my cabinets refaced with granite countertop and glass/tile backsplash. I also had my linen closet counter/drawer area refaced as well. It took 3 weeks from beginning to end to complete the project. Everyday they would clean up after themselves, which made it easier for my husband and myself to get through the remodeling process. I am a very "picky" person so I was afraid they would not complete the remodel to my expectations. Boy was I wrong. I could not find anything wrong with their workmanship. Everything was beautiful and perfect. All my friends and family who have seen my kitchen are so astonished. You can't tell it's a reface. It looks like brand new cabinets. Stu and his crew were so pleasant and accommodating to my various requests and their workmanship is beyond superior. I normally don't write reviews, but I felt this company deserves to be acknowledged. The company is a five star (believe me, I don't normally give 5 stars). Kitchen Tune-Up did a good job for us. They replaced all the doors in our kitchen, 2 bathrooms and the hall closet plus putting on veneers. They also installed pull out drawers in the cabinets. I was originally a little worried about how it would look being a redo and not all new cabinets. But it looks really great. Vladimir and Sean were very professional and nice to have in the house while they completed the job. They paid a great attention to detail and took pride in their work. Also, I did check prices on one other vendor who would do similar work. The price quoted by the other vendor was significantly higher for much less work (we only had them price the kitchen, not the bathrooms and closet). From that standpoint, Kitchen Tune-Up is an excellent choice. I will say I agree that returning phone calls was not their strong point. Stu could improve his service by getting back to his customers more promptly. If not for that, I would have given Kitchen Tune-Up a 5 rating. read more

got a quote from these guys. it was a couple thousand more than the competition. they were somewhat pushy when they found i was using someone else. they have the typical sales guy that tries to get the most he can out of you. I prefer to deal with the owner rather than some salesman who is just in it for as much as he can get out of you. read more
