My son and I bought a new 2019 90 HP Yamaha outboard. The price included an $1800 dollar installation fee. After Labor Day 2019, I hauled the boat to the marina for the motor installation. A couple days later, they called to say it was ready for pickup, had been thoroughly water test and all was ready. I retrieved the boat that day and began the process of breaking in the motor according to manufacturers instructions. Following is a list of issues, which were improperly, sloppily and shoddily installed. 1. The Yamaha main tachometer gauge was installed in such a way that one of the idiot lights was just left to dangle behind the dash, as the wiring was too short to reach the receptacle in the back of the gauge. 2. The steering wheel was installed in such a way that the spokes of the steering wheel itself, bore no resemblance to the direction of the motor...sloppy 3. The propeller was installed WITHOUT a cotter pin! 4. The fuel line fixture from the main fuel tank to the fuel water separator was so loose, my son spotted gasoline dripping onto the deck beneath the motor well. When I checked the fitting, it was finger loose! 5. All snap ties behind the dash, associated with the Yamaha tach wiring, were just left to dangle with 4 inch tails rather than being trimmed off properly...super sloppy 6. Several paint gouges occurred (the boat had no paint issues prior to arrival Kitsap Marina, as it was the result of a meticulous 27 month restoration), where the paint had been scratched down to the primer, on the starboard gunnel and in the motor well. 7. The cir-clip attaching the throttle cable to the throttle actuator inside the motor cover, either fell off AFTER SIX HOURS OF BREAK-IN ??? or was never installed in the first place, permitting the boat to come to a 500 rpm idle from a 2000 rpm plane. That was fun, I can tell you. Luckily, i was able to contact a mechanic at Kitsap Marina by cell phone, who walked me thru the problem, till i spotted the loose throttle control cable. When I called to apprise the marina of these issues, I was given the option of returning the boat 60 plus miles to have the items in question corrected, with the offer of them returning the boat to my residence. Dave, the salesman was both helpful and embarrassed when he found out how poorly the work had been performed. I have no issue with him, as he is knowledgeable and attentive. I have misgivings about reporting all this on Yelp but the employer needs to realize how serious these issues were. I will not be returning to Kitsap Marina for any reason. read more

bought my 6hp Suzuki from them at a better deal than anyone else and it was in stoc. then I went back to purchase stuff for my sailboat and dropped my wallet on the way out, talk about honesty and integrit, I returned an hour later and they just found my phone number and we're getting ready to call. around $700 in hundreds and everyt else in tact. I was honestly surprised so I spent $80 on pizza and soda and gave the employee $20 for his honesty! read more

I called the business after seeing a boat I wanted to purchase online on their website. Asked the salesman if boat was available and he stated it was however there were others interested. Salesman encouraged me to put earnest money to hold boat for 12 days which I did (Purchase & Sales Agreement). The following morning, less than 24 hours later I received bank approval for financing so called salesman to schedule the pickup. Salesman says he was sorry but boat was sold to someone else and they were just waiting for financing from that person. Told them I had the money and boat would be gone in my 2 hour drive time to the dealership. Was told I had to wait to see if other person could pay for it first. Spoke to business owner and he could care less and in fact told me they were in "no hurry to move it" when I told them I had money in hand. Terrible customer service, needless to say I'll be buying elsewhere. Most disappointing part of the story is I had talked to the same salesman several weeks earlier about the boat I was interested in and he wrote down my information. One would think a decent sales person would have called when a boat their potential customer was looking for hit his lot a couple weeks after their conversation. read more

Recently had my Suzukis in. Parts off the engine didn't come home and I was told I'd been given them. Cowling screws missing. Latch missing.Told my motor was shot and I'd need to get a new one. $159 please. Told Suzukis are throwaway motors. They broke a windshield wiper arm once before, but I did not make them replace it. It was old, and so it was brittle. My Suzukis were first generation. Since then they have reengineered their paint process. My paint flaked on those first engines, so yes, I complained about the engine paint, way back.14 years ago. But that was for a reason. The rude female person there (not a lady), says every time I have come in it's complaining. Full disclosure about her attitude, but not true. This time I had problems with a bearing cover flying off and I saw it when I dropped off my trailer. The salesman said he'd put a cap on as soon as I left. Two weeks latter I called and the scornful lady there said "did we call you about it?" I gave up and just drove over to look. The bearing cover was still off, and the bearing and grease were covered in dirt. Took my motor home since they'ed told me to buy a new motor to try and analyze it on my own. That's when I found the missing cowling screws. But, was told I'm just a complainer, you always complain. But not how I remember it. Called around. Someone said Puget Marine will help you. Disconnected everything except the bolts and Charlie says he'll help me. $500 to pull off apart the powerhead and go from there. There are parts suppliers and rebuilders who will remanufacture your powerhead for $3000 and change, but Kitsap says motors with 250 hours like mine are throwaways. Take your Suzuki business elsewhere. When you want to repair old, maybe don't have the money to burn anymore, people can start to get rude on you. They had been good to me in the past at Kitsap. John in service is a good guy. Replaced my keyset and returned the original to me after two years after they'd found it. Maybe my bolts will come back in two years.But avoid the woman in there as she has recently turned shrill, derogatory, and has memory problems. Dr. G read more

i bought a Honda 8hp kicker motor i found on a CL add from Kitsap Marina last week 3-20-15. When i walked in i was greeted by a salesman named Dave. He showed me the motor, I asked him if it ran good and he said yes. I took it home and tested it. the cooling pump was out. I though i was out of luck buying a used motor, but i called the next day and talked to Dave. told him what was going on and with out hesitation he told me to bring it back and they would fix it. i brought it back Monday 3-30-15. yes the drive sucked and it was too bad the motor had problems but these thing happen. The important thing to me is that Dave called me everyday with progress/update and that they stood behind a used motor.i am picking up the motor tomorrow. thanks Dave read more
