I think the term "hidden gem," as overused as it is, should be used to describe Kitsune House. It's in the back of a building so you have to be looking for it to find it. If I hadn't been to Right Hand next door, where they let you order food from Kitsune House and bring it in, I wouldn't have found this place. You also have to walk past it and smell all the amazing aromas of their food in order to go to the building's bathroom (after getting a door code), so we all win here. There is comic and anime decor all over the storefront and in the dining area, but not that loud overwhelming kind of decor. Instead, it mixes paintings of characters with black and white comic strips on walls and has stuffed figurines that are just small enough that you have to look hard at the walls and corners to find and appreciate them. They have an arcade machine right outside their ordering counter and neon character lights (Yoshi!) that complete the fun time look. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon when the World Cup was driving the town mad, but we came before the late lunch rush began. You order at the counter, seat yourself and pour yourself water from the cooler across from the counter. The staff member at the counter was nice, patient and attentive, bringing our orders out right when they were made, so our food was piping hot, fresh and so fragrant. She came by a few more times despite getting busier with more diners to ask if we needed anything else and to update us that our orders were almost ready. I saw their lunch special and immediately went with it: an entree of the day (this time it was kung pao chicken) with a soup (egg drop or miso) for $13. It's offered daily! The egg drop soup had just the right amount of thick broth and seasoning that I didn't hate at all the fact that I was eating soup in the middle of Miami summer. The kung pao chicken was lightly breaded and had so much soy umami flavor to it, I would have asked for the sauce recipe if I were that audacious. You know when you love and eat all of the rice a dish comes with because the dish is so rice friendly? Yeah, me too. I tried the chicken fried rice, which was also wonderful. Each grain of rice was meticulously coated with a deeply soy sauce based blend, an elusive achievement I haven't been able to attain in my kitchen. We had the gyoza as well, crispy fried and juicy on the inside. I left with a very happy food baby. I'm already thinking of excuses to return and try more of their dishes. The sweetness of the chicken against those perfectly textured noodles created one of those food moments you find yourself thinking about long after the meal is over. Days later, those noodles are still living rent free. For dessert, the Nutella cheesecake was light, creamy, and not overwhelmingly sweet.. it hit the spot perfectly. I found this place via Yelp! Everyone called it a hidden gem. It was only a 3 minute walk from my hotel located inside a shopping center. The atmosphere was nice and loved the decorations which reminded me of some of my favorite childhood characters! I got the lunch special which was the chicken and peppers and a choice of soup. It was hot so I wasn't in the mood for soup which was a tad salty to me but the chicken and peppers were sooo yummy! Definitely cooked fresh and the rice was perfectly cooked! Good fast casual spot well-hidden downtown. It's sort of burrowed back off-street inside this building so easy to miss, but it's a good option for a relatively good and affordable eat. Mostly noodles and rice dishes. The noodles are the much better value. The rice dish was heavy on rice and flight on filling. Both dishes had good flavor but I found the udon particularly enjoyable. After enjoying cocktails and before a nightcap at their neighbor Right Hand, I stopped at Kitsune House on the suggestion of a fellow celebrant. Their colorful facade with an anime vibe is fun to look at, with the posters and figures. They also have a vintage arcade machine. While there are a few tables to dine in, Kitsune House works perfect for take out as well. I ordered a yummy bowl of General Tsao's chicken with add-on fried rice (the standard price is for white rice) while sipping my drink. The portion size hit the spot; the rice was nicely sticky, there was a good spread of carrots and peas. My chicken itself had a delicious glaze of sweet spice. The other day we were in downtown and were in the mood for Chinese. We kind of found this spot just by pulling up Yelp and taking a chance and I'm really glad we did. It's kind of a hidden spot, next to Julia and Henry's, you walk down a hallway and all of a sudden you're at Kitsune House. So it has that little hidden hole in the wall feel which is awesome. The decor is so fun too with anime characters hanging from the ceiling, it almost feels like you left Miami. We decided to start with some spring rolls which were great, hot and crispy and had a great dipping sauce. For my entree I got the sesame ginger chicken with rice and it was exactly what I wanted. The chicken was so crispy on the outside and the sauce was sweet and glossy but also savory. The portion was good and it came with sautéed onions and bell peppers. The price was also reasonable (which is such a breath of fresh air in Miami because it seems that everything has just gotten way too expensive these days). I'll definitely be coming back. Also whoever took our order was so nice and actually gave us the recommendation on what to order. Keeping it short and sweet -- my gals and I kept stopping here out of pure convenience as our book club meet was right next door in downtown and it turned out to be an absolute clutch find. Let me start off by saying the food was incredible--definitely worth checking out. I usually pass them and never thought to check them out, except for this moment of curiosity. They say curiosity killed the cat, but in this case, it brought the cat back to life! Every single dish was delicious. I've never been the kind of person to enjoy egg drop soup, but this one didn't have a slimy texture; it was more like a rich and delectable broth, especially with how cold it is outside. The fried rice dishes were definitely top-tier--I could not get enough of them--and the General Tso steak was great. The service is quite simple: you order, they make the food, and you sit down to enjoy the awesome layout. It's very anime-oriented with pictures on the wall, which is super dope, especially if you're into anime. They also have these mini arcade game machines to pass the time. I honestly enjoyed everything about it. I've been going to Kitsune Sushi & Ramen in Downtown Miami for work lunches, and it's easily become one of my regular spots. The atmosphere is awesome. The walls are covered in anime art, which honestly makes it feel like I'm hanging out in my own room. It gives the place a really fun and relaxed vibe that makes lunch there feel a little more special than your typical work break. I have always wanted to check out Kitsune House and finally had a chance with a spontaneous drop in on the way walking home from the bars on Flagler. I figured since it was tucked away it was going to be a cute hidden gem, but it was even cuter than I expected! I loved the anime wallpaper and the seating area with the action figures floating above was so fun. They even had little arcade games to play. I got takeout, so unfortunately didn't have the chance to dine and fully enjoy the vibes, but I definitely appreciated it while waiting. Food-wise, it's kind of Panda Express-like for me, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I love Panda Express. So expect menu items like general tso, ginger chicken, lo mein, egg drop soup, etc. I will say I did find the food to be a little greasier than I'd like personally, but this may be more personal presence. But it does have a ton of flavor and is also seemingly cooked-to-order (unlike Panda Express) so it's served super hot. It was still warm when I ate it after a 15-minute walk back home. It's also very reasonably priced. Service was great - the gentleman who took my order very kind offered me beverages while waiting and apologized for the wait (it really wasn't bad at all though - couldn't have been more than 10 minutes!). It's nice they do have a water cooler for those waiting in case it's hot and there's any wait. Found out about Kitsune from an IG post and put in on my "must-go" list for the maybe 2 times a year I go to Miami. With how infrequently I go to Miami, and how excited I was to try this place, it ended up being a major let-down and I wish I would've tried one of the many other restaurants on my list. You first walk in, and the theme is the same overplayed Anime theme that so many Asian restaurants are doing now. Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, because it's Chinese food, with a Japanese theme? It then all makes sense when you get the food. The popular Japanese theme and restaurant name is to attract customers, but then they serve sub-par Chinese food. The great thing about this place, is they have a ton of options for vegetarians/vegans. Any bowl can be replaced with tofu. We got one honey garlic chicken bowl and one general tso's tofu bowl. The tofu was insanely gummy. Felt like you were eating cubes of jello. The sauce was good, although there might have been too much. On the other hand, the honey garlic chicken bowl had very little sauce and was pretty dry, along with the fact that the chicken was so incredibly soggy. I get crispier chicken at Panda Express. The rice in both dishes were pretty bland, which was okay for the tofu bowl as it had a ton of sauce, but not-so-okay for the honey garlic chicken bowl which had no sauce to toss the rice in. 3 cans of soda, and 2 bowls, came to about $40. All in all, it was not worth the money, the trip, nor the $20 parking. I'm giving two stars because of the options for people with restrictive/different diets and the fact that while the food wasn't good, it was edible. read more

They could improve their deceptive online ordering for BOGOs. When I ordered egg drop soup I expected a full container. Instead I got half of two containers. This is not buy one, get one! I eat at Asian inspired restaurants almost everywhere I go in different areas of the country or the world and this is the best dumplings I have had. The place was also clean and nice service. The restaurant is kind of hidden, you have to walk into a building with different store fronts and find it at the end. All together, my total for the entree, appetizer, and drink was $25. The appetizer chicken dumplings were so delicious. The edges were crispy, and the body of the dumplings were so soft, the chicken inside of it was flavorful... But my absolute favorite had to have been the fried rice paired with the General Tso's ... the food was so fresh and piping hot ...literally stayed hot until I took the last bite... this is truly a hidden gym... The art on the wall is so interesting ...I truly feel like I'm in a popular hotspot in Asia that all the cool locals rave about...
