Beautiful shoes but sub par customer service. I reached out about a repair, heard back over 2 weeks later, replied, then never heard back again. Really disappointing considering the price of the shoes. The price of the shoes is fair btw for handmade leather, but I still would have hoped they would want to help repair shoes so that people keep supporting their company. My wife has been wearing these Kiwi Sandals for 40 plus years! She has very high arches, and has had the sandals custom made for a fit for her feet, she says they are the most comfortable shoes she owns. She always enjoyed visiting with them at the Fourth Avenue Street Fair in Tucson, Arizona. With the Covid Pandemic and her lung condition, we haven't been able to get out and about - thank goodness they keep records of their custom work, and can generate a new pair readily! My twin sister found a pair of comfortable, stylish locally handcrafted sandals through Kiwi Sandals in Lucerne Valley five years ago. Much to my chagrin, I lost my business card with their information while traveling and living out-of-state. My sandals lasted two years of extreme ruggedness- hiking mountains (don't judge), trudging through deserts, meandering along beaches. Seriously- I wear out sandals! My usual Rainbows can only survive about a year of my intense walking. Kiwis lasted me two years at which point I could've sent them back and had them resoled... except I lost their business card. Thankfully, while pilfering through my trunk, I discovered the lost business card! Ordered my pair and paid extra for some serious extra cushion in the hopes my knees would appreciate the added support. Handcrafted of fine materials, including option for leather sole if you'd prefer. I chose cushion instead of leather. Sandals range in price but are comparable to other sandal companies with the added perk of being made in California and being of Superb quality! Well worth the price! The shoe makers are very helpful, personable and responsive. Excellent customer service! I received my sandals by mail and they were carefully packaged, which I appreciate. Love my sandals! I really love sandals. The next best thing to running around barefoot. When I ordered these shoes from a booth at the Venice Street Fair last year I was stoked because I had been searching for some custom leather sandals for some time. Cost about a hundred bucks with s&h. I figured, what the hell, with their "Using only the finest leather & sole materials our sandals are guaranteed to never come apart." (see photo) statement on their brochure, how could I go wrong? And their web site has nothing but rave reviews. A few months later when they came in the mail, I thought, they look good, they feel good, I'm happy. Sometimes people would ask me where I got the Jesus shoes and I would refer them to Kiwis thinking I was doing them a favor. I would like to apologize to those people now because I didn't know then what I know now. The Guarantee is a total fabrication. The sandals came apart in about six months. My plan then was I'll return them for repair at this year's street fair and purchase another pair for back up. Surprise! The sales person informed me that the leather parts of my leather sandals were not covered by their guarantee. I was speechless. I couldn't even think of a retort. I know I can get these sandals fixed at a proper shoe repair shop but that's not the point. Whats wrong with these people? Why don't they know about customer care, referrals, reputation and fake guarantees? They chose to blow off a loyal customer rather than spend 30 minutes repairing their screw up. It appears to me that they are either Hippie craftspeople pretending to be cut throat entrepreneurs or cut throat entrepreneurs pretending to be Hippie craft persons. If it's their soles, rivets... whatever, they fix it for free. Dunno if your dog chewed on yours or what the deal was. I've had my Kiwis for over FIVE YEARS, and took good care of them, and have never had any issues. Literally wore them every day for 5 years... in the rain, snow, sand, whatever! Had them resoled once, also got a pair of pink flip flops, and a second pair of black ones like the ones I have. Got a pair for my mom (5 years also) and recently got my best friend, and also a co-worker a pair. (so what's that? six pairs over 5 years... never ever with a single issue?) My girlfriend and I bought a pair each about a year ago. We LOVE them. They are so comfortable and what's even better is that they are made for your foot shape; which is great because I have wide feet and usually sandals and flip-flops are too narrow. Just recently the leather upper on my flip-flops separated from the sole (a glue issue), and Kiwi fixed them no problem! My girlfriend is ordering a second pair because she wants a another style. Overall, they are very helpful on the phone, and their sandals are a quality product. Would definitely recommend! read more

I stopped by the Kiwi Sandal booth at the Tempe AZ Art Festival. It comes every year and I had seen them there selling sandals for a few years. I was in the market to get new sandals. I have been wearing Rainbows since 2000. My wife really liked the narrowness to the Kiwi Sandal. So I got her some, I felt the sandal was too narrow for my 4E foot. In case you do not understand 4E, the standard shoe at the store is "normal", then most stores have wide, double wide, then you have 1E, 2E, 3E, 4E. So I asked if they can custom make me some. They said sure, they drew my feet, there was no commitment to buy. It sounded great. So I ordered. the next Art festival came around 6 months later and I picked them up. the leather was super tight. They stretch the leather for me by get them wet and putting a wedge in it for 30 minutes while I walked around. For a day or two I wore them wet to further stretch them to my foot. I was liking them. Note that they are almost twice the cost of Rainbow Sandals. After about 5 to 6 months the leather started to separate from the sole. The guy told me that I could come back to the festival anytime and they could re-glue it is the sole comes apart. So I took them to the festival. Wouldn't you know, the one time I wanted them there, they were not there. I parked my 10$ parking and they were not there. The sole separating is not my only issue. I wear sandals everywhere, I mean everywhere. People in Arizona wear sandals year round. I am not sure why, but if I walk around for anything longer then 20 minutes or so, my feet kill me when I wear the Kiwi Sandals. If I walk too fast it hurts my feet so bad I have to stop walking for a minute. My rainbows I wore to Disneyland, no issue. No pain beyond the normal pain of walking around Disneyland. My next sandal will be a double layered Rainbow Sandal, back to the trusty Rainbow!!! read more

Long overdue review here. I have been ordering sandals from these guys for over 20 years. The sandals are very comfortable, last seemingly forever and are much more stylish than anything I have seen in the stores for sale. None of the sandals have velcro nor are they ridiculously bedazzled. They are smart and classic. Highly recommended. read more

These are the best sandals ever!! Better than Rainbow, Olukai, Reef, even Astral. I wear these in FL whenever its above 40 F and not raining. I am a self employed mechanic / shop owner. I am not sure where the reviews come from but my experience is different. Bought the sandals at the Tempe Arts Festival. Wore them a couple of months. Soles separated. Returned to the festival again when it was on again and they were there. I showed them the sandals and they said they were leather was from a bad batch. They said about 500 pairs of sandals had to be repaired. No problem. They would ship a new pair as they did not have my size available. What a coincidence. Stupid me believed they would do that. Gave them all my info. Now they do not return phone calls or emails. I am without my sandals I paid for. I am convinced they are cons. Would not recommend buying their sandals unless you are feeling lucky. read more

I've had these sandals now for less than a month but I want to say they are awesome and will wear these whenver I can.They formed to my feet within the first week and are so comfortable. They look like they are built to last though I can see I may be rough on the Vibram sole which could be due to the shape and angle of my feet. This is a small family business that puts out an incredible product. I can easily seeing these was outlast comparable sandals from the big names.
