KJ's off the 97 is a cute hole in the wall that has great food. We were there for breakfast, John's Brown was really good hash browns cook to perfection. My partner has French toast and eggs. Service was helpful giving us good advice as we traveled through the state of Oregon to our destination of Albany. I would recommend! read more

Burger was good, fries were too. That said, this was the first establishment I've entered that didn't post a mask requirement on the door (tho they post no non-service animals). Felt weird walking as the only ones w masks on, including all staff. read more

Stopped by Monday the 15th of August as we were returning home, ordered two very simple meals, a pancake and an omelet; the omelet comes with toast and hash browns. Besides us there were four people at two other tables there for a meal; the people behind us had already been served. Well, we got a pancake and an omelet, perhaps the ugliest, greasiest omelet ever. I asked about the toast and hash browns and the young man said, oh they're not done yet. They weren't done for another ten minutes. My husband asked for some syrup. It arrived a few minutes later. The pancake had been cut to check for doneness by the cook. The pancake was the consistency of a soaked and wrung out sponge, and flavorless. My toast and hash browns arrived on a new plate. The hash browns were hot, salty and greasy, but an identifiable flavor as the omelet had none, and the toast too was on the blander side of bland...it's toast, but really? At one point the cook came out of the kitchen to bring something to the table next to us that had been forgotten from their meal. He told us that he had asked the boy if we wanted hash browns and toast but he had said no. I wouldn't recommend this cafe. It has just reopened as KJ's after having been a number of other cafes. There are 2 TV's on, and flashing sign that says "Hey, hey, hey, we have beer" and the bathrooms are down the stairs in what is an opening scene to many a horror movie; the women's was clean enough; my husband said the men's was a disaster -- and he's a fleet sailor who traveled the world, and seen some disastrous bathrooms. read more

Super yummy breakfast! We got the breakfast sandwich one with ham and the other with sausage. Ham sliced thin and lots of it. Got it to go. Took no time at all. The eggs in the sandwich were delicious. I highly recommend going here. Especially like supporting small businesses. read more

As the owner of kjs cafe I can assure you we are not closed. The individual who posted on Yelp that we were closed should have read the door. This place is exactly what a road side cafe should be. Surly cook in the bad yelling about people ordering salads for breakfast. What looks like 3 generations of men running the front. REAL HOMEMADE HASH, none of that canned crap. Salty and delicious. I had the grilled chicken salad (much to cookie's dismay, lol) it was the best I've had in a Looooonnnggg time, PERFECTLY marinaded chicken grilled and fresh on a bed of freshly chopped romaine and vine ripened tomatoes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND, EVEN FOR BREAKFAST!!! Boyfriend got the Hash, OM eggs, wheat toast with a side of bacon. He gave me a "perfect bite" and it was a homemade greasy spoon dream!! This was a great stop on the way to Crater Lake. The hospitality was excellent! We were warmly greeted and sat and promptly waited on. Our orders were a bit jumbled, but quickly fixed. The food was really good. My husband says the Café Burger was the best he's ever had. Definitely get dessert. The pies are all homemade. We had raspberry pie Ala mode which was super good. Their cinnamon rolls are also supposed to be amazing, but we didn't try it. In all, a great roadside stop. read more

Husband and I stopped here for some breakfast. Man who was serving wasn't friendly--didn't welcome us or say anything, threw a couple menus down on the table and asked "what do you want?" when getting orders. He seemed annoyed we were there. I get that might be his style, which would be understandable, especially being in a small town, but we noticed he was much friendlier to others who came in, so that made us uncomfortable. After reading some of the reviews can't help but wonder if he was being racist as my husband is Native American. Food was simple but decent; I would reconsider coming here though, especially if you're a person of color. read more

A really charming roadside café in the great American style. Very rural decor which makes it feel very authentic. The food was quite decent, and the staff were very kind and seem to care a lot about their restaurant. I'd recommend it if you're hungry! read more

We had some of the best hamburgers we've ever had here at KJ's Cafe. The meat is fresh, the buns were toasted with a touch of butter, and the add-ons to the burger were tasty. The price of your burger is determined by how many add-ons you select. The price remains reasonable, though, even with three or four additions. The fries were hot and crispy on the outside and a little soft on the inside. Perfect! I wish they were closer to home! read more

DO NOT EAT HERE. I would not recommend this place to anybody. As soon as we walk in the gentleman tells me they close in 20 minutes I still took a seat since they close at 3 and not 2:40. My wife went to the restroom and well she's gone he asks if we are ready to order.(I haven't even sat down or looked at the menu btw) And he just stood there looking at us the entire time. Drinks tasted flat. And the food is horrible. I got a chilli burger and my wife got a pastrami sandwich (DO NOT ORDER THAT!!) We arrived here around 11:45am and the older man who seated us and served us was really nice. I ordered the pancake, sausage, and eggs with a cup of coffee. My boyfriend ordered the Angus beef steak, hash browns, eggs, and toast with a cup of coffee as well. Both meals were super yummy! I highly recommend coming in around noon for good service. They close super early, around 2pm or 3pm which is kind of inconvenient. But they do open around 6am which is nice for the early birds. read more

Although it looks a little questionable from outside, we were pleasantly surprised in finding a great family lunch spot. It was not an inexpensive stop, but worth checking out. The tea was fresh, the soft drinks were perfectly bubbly and the homemade chicken noodle soup was delicious! And everyone wanted a bite of my turkey club sandwich. read more

Don't go here. They must be managed very poorly. We showed up on a Monday at 2 p.m. and were turned away because they are out of food.

We had been traveling for some 300 miles since our last stop on the way through Oregon when we came across this gem. Unfortunately for us, we hit this spot right as the owner was closing (4pm). We were badly in need of a quick rest break and some beverage. The owner realized our plight that we were from out-of-state passing through, and promptly told us "Yes I am closing, but I'll feed you!". We were elated with such kindness to stay open a little bit longer. All we needed was a quick restroom break and some coffee. He gave us the last he had (still fresh) and we were on our way! I do wish we could have eaten here too as the reviews are very good. Perhaps next time. Definitely a very nice place and friendly atmosphere, so we were very grateful :) read more

Understaffed and the owner has no personality whatsoever. He walked by and slapped down the menus in a rush. Food was sub standard, pricey and very small portions. Club sandwich was like no other club sandwich, it just looked like a regular turkey sandwich. We thought that maybe since this place was busy, it would be good. Found out that this is the 0nly place around. Subway is right next door, go there instead!! Do yourself a favor and skip this place!!! read more
