These guy's are the worst people I"ve ever had to deal with! I brought my 1969 Meyers Manx in for repair and it was horrible service! I asked to have new boots put on my newly powder coated axles and they scratched the hell out of them. They also charged me double the price for the boots than Buggyworks would have. Asked to have my 5 point seatbelts weaved into my race seats and they installed them outside the seats. They test drove it and left grease all over the floorboards and the owners brother tells me he drove the hell out of it with the parts girl in the passenger seat! Paid them and forgot the repair order and came back the next day and the owner decided I should pay them 80.00 more dollars. I did not pay it. Even though I personally did not have work done here I'm going to give them a 5 star rating. My coworker Rusty man Sam had some issues with a rebuilt engine on his 71 super beetle and decided to take it to Kline to have it fixed. I took him over to pickup the finished product yesterday and man these guys are rad. Guy working the front was really polite, respectful, knowledgeable, and a damn good laugh. To top it off when we finally left Rusty man Sam realized his clutch wasn't engaging so we flipped around and went back (after hours) and they inspected the clutch to find the assembly was cracking horribly and were nice enough to weld it free of charge even after hours to get us back on the road! Went to repair my 85 cabriolet, they just ended stealing my money cuz they didn't do shit to my car.

Took these people a 1600cc case, which was cracked and no longer viable. Paid quite a bit of money and received a 1300CC case made to a 1600CC long block. That all seems good until none of the parts fit! The oil cooler, the intake manifold, the exhaust manifold. Just gave up there. Went out and found a viable engine ready to install for not nearly what we paid for the Kline engine. So I suppose I am supposed to call again or go back down there to play little mind games. Shame on me. I wasn't paying attention when they loaded up the rebuilt engine. Just didn't think I really had to. Learned my lesson. I don't think I'd have them change a tire. So, I guess they feel they want to take care of some, but not others. Anyone thinking about doing business with them should beware. You may NOT get what you paid for. Cheesy read more

It was a long trip from Rancho Cucamonga to Klein VW, but so worth the trip. Friendly and helpful guys. Purchased a stock 1600dp long block for our build. Been a few weeks and about 200 miles around town. No issues with the long block. Sealed up nice and tight. Very impressed with the re-build. Thanks Roger and Dave for the great service and advise. I bought my 1967 Split window bus in Huntington beach a few months ago. Unfortunately the guy I bought it from screwed me on the work that was supposed to be done to it. This place is right down the street from my house so I thought I would give them a try. And lets just say that the experience has been wonderful, these guys really know their stuff! This place is amazing!! Roger, Dave, Steve they are all great. I own a 64' bug and I brought it in to get my wheel fixed and they found that it was more than what I was thinking. Well thy fixed it and asked if I wanted to do a tune up since I had only owned the car for a month and I told them go ahead. Well they found some stuff in my engine that wasn't making the car hit the potential power it had and they hooked it up. I am really grateful that they have the knowledge on bugs. If you want a Customer Lounge and Courtesy Shuttle go to Drew VW in La Mesa, but if you're looking for air-cooled experts, that do it the "old school" way this is the shop for you! It"s dirty, low on on-site parking and kind of like a "one-bay" garage, cause it's got those things in spades, but as an engine builder you won't get the run @ at Klines! Dave did an awesome job of salvaging as much as he could from my old engine and saving me $$$ in the process! Well my friends at Kline bailed me out again! Lost my keys last night. One of those things like losing a wallet which sucks. Only had one ignition key. I appreciate all that Kline VW does for me and my little Beetle. Roger and Dave are always very helpful and nice and always treat me like I'm special which is not very common when dealing with automotive shops. I actually have a VW shop about 3 miles from my house but make the 35 mile drive to Kline because of their service and quick turn around on work. I typically wait for my car to be ready at another local establishment and have even had Roger offer to come pick me up and bring me back to the shop to pick up my car. That is something your typical shop will not even offer up and I felt it just added to the value I place in bringing my car here. Having car problems is never fun but at least I have Kline available to me which always makes me feel better. I will definitely remain a customer for as long as I own a classic Beetle. read more

I have driven by this location for years and I always knew that this place would be my mechanic shop whenever I would buy a vintage Bug in the future. I purchased my 1961 Bug a year and a half ago and sure enough Kline was where I took it. I have never taken my Bug anywhere else and I love these guys so much!! My engine blew out about a year ago and they rebuilt a 1600 for me which was an amazing upgrade. Now that the engine is finally broken in it reaches up to 85 mph on the freeway easy! Not that its recommended to push the engine like that but most of the time I don't notice until I look at the speedometer. This year has been tough financially for me and my Bug was my only vehicle. I drive for a living so you could imagine I was left on the side of the road often for one issue or another...since Bugs are known for leaving you on the side of the road, plus its a 50+ year old car. Kline has always been available for me even when money was tight. They have always accommodated me making a payment plan or applying a discount. When I had an urgent matter, they even sent Steve (the coolest guy in the world!!) to wherever I was stuck to get the car started so I didn't have to pay for a tow. These guys have been like family to me and they have seen my car from a rusty black lifted Bug to now a Beautiful Cotton Candy Pink Shiny Chromed Completely Restored Bug. I won my first trophy at the most recent Santee Car Show and I was so proud to tell everyone that my car has and will always be serviced by Kline!! read more

They told me that it'll be a few days before they could get to my car. I had my car towed in anyway. They called me back in very quickly and said my car was done.
