Most amazing donut I've ever had! I am not a dessert person and neither do I indulge in unhealthy eating very often. But I had a craving one morning for some sugar and 'Dough' was on my way. I walked in and realized one of their donuts was going to at least spread out for over 2 days for me. The flavors looked so delicious. I decided to go for 'Toasted Coconut'. Amazing nutmeg-y finish and I have to say I love the yeastiness of the donut - did not feel like straight up sugar, but felt like a complex cake/bread - the sourness did come through. The donut has body and texture. My donut world has changed from now on. If I encounter donut people, I will definitely recommend this place. And maybe next year try one of their other amazing flavors. It did cost me $6.80 but I'm telling you these are gigantic - one for 2 people I'd say. My man was working nearby so we decided to get half a dozen donuts to sample some of their much hyped flavors: Hibiscus, Nutella, Chocolate with nibs, Glazed, Blueberry Lemon, and Café au Lait. Visually, these donuts are stunning; each one looks like it was made to be photographed. They're also huge, much larger than your standard donut, which makes them feel like a real indulgence. Flavor wise, I appreciated the creativity. The Blueberry Lemon was my favorite; it struck a great balance between sweet and tart, and the oat crumble on top added a really nice crunch. The Hibiscus had a bold floral glaze and candied petals, which felt creative. The Chocolate with nibs had a rich, deep flavor and a nice bitter contrast from the nibs. Even the classic Glazed felt elevated with its glossy finish and subtle vanilla notes. That said, while they're marketed as airy yeast donuts, I found them to be a lot denser than expected, almost play-dough like in texture. Instead of that light, fluffy bite I was hoping for, they were more doughy. They're certainly enjoyable, but I wouldn't say they were spectacular. For me, they leaned more toward novelty than something I'd crave regularly. Overall, Dough is worth visiting for the visual appeal and the unique flavors. Dough has expanded since the early ft Greene days on Lafayette's Ave, spun out from choice market, so part of my rating could be nostalgia. Due to a spectacular error in judgement, we wound up in lower Manhattan, far from our destination. But we were lucky to find Dough so that we could step in from the heat and humidity and recalibrate our day. I haven't been here in a long time. I finally came since it was right downstairs from where I'm currently working. It's a small and cozy shop. I got a 6 pack of doughnuts. A hibiscus, Cafe au lait, blueberry lemon, glazed, Nutella, and a chocolate with chocolate nibs. I got to try most except for the Nutella one. I was way to full to take another bite. Their dough is light, not dense, has a lovely vanilla aroma and more like cake than anything else. Their beautiful concoctions ranging from hibiscus, to peanut butter and boston cream in dark chocolate galore is a stroke of genius. I loved eating these post-partum after giving birth to my children and still love them time to time. Donut time! Stopped in before a soulcycle class (they cancel each other out- okay) and asked the lady at the front which donuts we're filled- ube cheesecake and Nutella that day. So I chose the ube cheesecake because the lady said it was the most popular filled donut. It was delicious! Good portion size, their could be a bit more filling but it was really good. I wish I can give lower than 1 star. This doughnut is 99% dough and the smallest amount of glaze. Just plain bread that was very bad texture wise as well and EXTREMELY DRY. Definitely the place to go for delicious and large donuts in NYC! They have a few locations, but this location was convenient to walk to if you're in the Flat Iron area. They have about 7-8 different flavor options to choose from, all unique from typical donut shops. I ordered the Nutella Crunch and Apple Strudel. They were both very very good with plenty of flavor and ingredients stuffed in as filling. The dough was light and fluffy too, so a good contrast to the heavier filling. Apple Strudel had fresh apple slices inside, seasoned with cinnamon and a cream cheese/caramel filling. Nutella Crunch was a bit more simple with the hazelnut pieces on top and Nutella cream in the center. I enjoyed both a lot and was certainly full after eating them!
