As I was checking in, an unfriendly front office staff member asked whether I wanted the $39 retinal scan with my eye exam. I did want the scan, but my insurance copay was supposed to be $20, or at least that's what it said in my paperwork. She didn't offer any explanation, didn't offer to call my insurance, or even check with the doctor. She coldly stared at me and waited for my response. I decided I would find another doctor. There was no recovery attempt at all. I see in the Yelp reviews that I am not the only one who feels they weren't treated with respect by the front office staff. I want to update my review. Although I wasn't treated with respect, the information that Eye Concepts received from my insurance company did specify that I could be charged $39. This is in contrast to what my employer states ($20 copay). It wasn't Eye Concepts fault, rather an issue I need to take up with my employer.

I've worn glasses my whole life and she taught me stuff I didn't know - in a short time too. My son had lost his glasses in the lake earlier the day and needed them for work the next day. We showed up an hour before they closed. Julia helped us and didn't seem annoyed at all. We had his prescription, info on the last frames he had purchased and a picture of him. (He wasn't with us as he hadn't gotten home from the lake yet). While the frames we picked weren't exactly what he had, she worked to find ones that were similar shape, right size and in stock so she could have ready for us the next day by 12:00pm. Wow! I went in last night to get some nose pads for my mom's glasses. My mom has done medical issues…read moreand was in the hospital when I noticed her glasses were missing the nose pads. I can in just after 6 pm just as they were closing. I have never been there before but she not only installed the nose pads but adjusted the frames straight and tightened down the screws cleaned them and put them in a clear plastic case to protect them. She also offered to make additional adjustments if I brought my mom in to make sure they fit correctly on her.

The doctors here are excellent optometrists. Just be aware that they will always try to sell you on getting retinal imaging which is not covered by vision insurance. I happen to have medical reasons to get this done, but no one ever spends the effort to ask if I would like to use my medical insurance to cover it. If you want to save another doctors' appointment, it might be worth $59, but you may have to demand they submit to you should check your insurance coverages. I decided to save this type of exam for an ophthalmologist for their scope of practice. The lobby has many brand names of eye frames to choose from. Every year I ask if they have "asian fit" options or brands and they have yet to add to their selection. I was told they have some of those brands at the "other" office. When I asked about ordering from the catalog (I happen to know exactly what brand and style would work), they were kindly able to order it for me. However, when I inquired about the cost, it is clear there is a significant uncharge for their "broker" fees. You might consider just ordering the same frame cheaper from many options available online for the exact same thing. You are basically paying extra so you can try it on in person. It is coincidental that it will also be just above what your vision insurance covers. Overall, the eye care that is delivered by the optometrists here is great. I have always received excellent care from them. The extra services and add-ons should be carefully considered for the value if you so choose. Also, this medical complex has becoming increasingly busy and it is often much harder to find parking each year. You might need to allow a few extra minutes to circle around to find a spot so you are not late to your appointment.

I chose LensCrafters because my husband had had good luck, but Iwhen I went to pick up my glasses today they were completely wrong. They made the wrong prescription. They didn't make my reading prescription. They made my full prescription for when I'm not wearing my contacts in. Makes me rethink choosing LensCrafters if they can't get this right. Now it will take an additional two weeks to get my glasses which really irritates me.
