This store has more than groceries and household items - like the true general stores you will find various sundry items from batteries to decor pillows to snow sleds - all at reasonable or surprisingly inexpensive prices! Need a helmet for skiing or snowboarding? I was wishing I hadn't bought my helmet (which I purchased on sale) before arriving in Colorado - here at the Colorado Country General Store, a K2 brand helmet was normally priced at $20 LESS than the sale price I paid!! Other ski and boarding gear is also available at great prices. No mountain store would be complete without Colorado souvenirs, and yes you will find these here as well. Friendly proprietors and an awesome store - you wouldn't be wrong if you stopped here in Empire instead of Idaho Springs or Georgetown!

The hospitality they showed me was unbelievable. They helped me find the local 4x4 rescue, and were generally great people. We went inside with our grocery list in hand. If you need groceries go somewhere else. They have no fresh meats or produce. We ended up having to make a stop at Whole Foods and were barely able to get the meats that we needed. You can't tell me that this Walmart wouldn't sell meat and produce if they offered it. Do better Walmart!

Not sure how ol' Sam Walton would respond to a refugee chattering away on his phone, wearing sunglasses, and watching as I loaded my own items back into the cart at checkout.
