Bar and interior seating. Rustic, but comfortable.
    Mike W.

One of our favorite wine bars/small bites restaurants. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's quaint, has fantastic service, and scrumptious small plates and tapas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's primarily indoor and bar seating, but a few 2-seat tables out front.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On street parking and public lot right across the street. This weekend's visit, Alex and Christine assisted us, and the service was excellent. WINE: They have a wonderful selection of wines to suit anyone's tastes. Wines available in flights, by the glass, or bottle, and some wine cocktails. For the non-wine drinkers, they also serve a variety of beers. FOOD: Even if you're not into wine, the food alone is worth a visit. We usually order several of the tapas and small plates. Everything is flavorful and well prepared. All food is prepared to order, so plan on a little extra time, but for us that's exactly what we like: a casual, relaxing dining experience. We had the following on our latest visit: * Sautéed Mushrooms ($9.95): sautéed with garlic and spices (pairs perfectly with a bold red wine) * Fig & Whipped Ricotta Crostini ($10.95): black fig jam with whipped ricotta, arugula, and balsamic glaze (delicious!) * Steak Crostini ($11.95): flank steak with gorgonzola cheese, marinated tomatoes, and fresh basil (the cheese makes it for me...simply fantastic!) * Chicken Liver Paté ($10.95): with crostini (one of my favorites!) * Grilled Cheese Bites ($10.95): made with their house cheese and served with a chili aioli (very good) * Olives ($5.95): Good, but I would suggest to the owner that they add a few varieties to make it great! They have charcuterie, salads, and many other items not listed above. Everything we've tried has been wonderful. I highly recommend you check out The Saltner to get your wine and tapas fix!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a fun little wine bar![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've been waning to check this place out for years and finally got around to it. We went on a Sunday, which worked out well because they offer glasses and tastings of wines in any open bottles at half off! You wouldn't think so, but they have an awesome range of menu items to choose from if you want some food or snacks with your wine. The wines were all great (they have a really good variety to choose from). Julie, the Owner, is an encyclopedia of wine knowledge. So know you're in good hands and will be well taken care of. A little off the beaten path but well worth the visit if you're ever in the Monrovia area and would like a quaint spot for some wine.

Although this is more of a wine bar, I thoroughly enjoyed the food here, as it hit all the flavors I was looking for. The crostini was a delicious starter and the salad the right size to keep me interested. For dinner, I had the Honey glazed salmon and mashed potatoes and the wife had the Surf & Turf dinner, which was fill and required us to take home a portion of our dinner. Service was good, but do wish they had more of a selection of soft drinks, for those who don't imbibe in wine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is more bar-like and hosts weekend wine discounts and get together parties of old vinyl tunes and flights of various wines.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

What a great find! The Saltner in Monrovia is a true hidden gem. The food was absolutely delicious - freshly cooked with quality ingredients you can taste in every bite. There's real care put into each dish. Love the Steak And Salmon Crotini. Great selection of wines The owner, Julie, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. You can tell she's passionate about both food and hospitality. They also offer wine classes - just ask about the schedule when you visit. It's a perfect spot for food lovers and wine enthusiasts alike. Highly recommend stopping by for a cozy, flavorful experience

I love this place! On Sunday's, they have 50% off open wines. The owner is super nice and I love the vibes of the place. Will be returning!

This restaurant has a nice ambiance at first glance. Pretty cozy interior. It was Friday night around 6:45. Plenty of tables available then we found out they have an event/party on going. Guests from that party spilled over to the main area of the restaurant where we are sitting. I am sure their guests were all enjoying themselves but for the few customers at the restaurant that were not part of the party, it was noisy and I can't even hear the background music. As for the food, our server indicated that they have had events in the past week. So some items we want to try were not available including the pate, chicken meatball and lobsber bisque. That was disappointing. I do recommend the goat cheese bruschetta. The crostini was toasted to perfection and proportion of goat cheese, strawberry, honey and walnuts were just right. The other two dishes we tried were average. The dishes do take a long time to come out. Wine recommendation by the owner was excellent. We love it.

Best experience! Super intimate wine tasting experience - but also lots of wines to choose from if you already know what you like. It makes a great girls night and will say the FOOD was amazing and decent price. Our waiter was a joy! Thanks for the amazing time.

    Great meat and cheeses!

The food is delicious and the prices are appropriate given the portion sizes. Service was prompt and professional. Parking might be a challenge, though there are public lots within a block or two. We went on a Friday night and encountered heavy traffic from the local farmer's market/fair. The best item was the Beef kabob, 5 out of 5 stars. It was perfectly cooked, a very simply salt and pepper seasoning, juicy and simply divine! We got the kids meal, which came with only 4 pieces, and I'd be interested to return for the full adult portion. Also a 5-star experience was the Fried cauliflower appetizer. It had just the right amount of crispiness, without any blackening, and the garlic/parsley/lemon juice combo worked well. The juice was sucked into all the crevices, and overall it was light. I think I could have eaten two portions myself and called it a satisfying meal. I did dip in some tzatziki, which worked great too! Lastly the Chicken shawarma was a 4-star dish. Still delicious and I'd get it again, but it was slightly salty from the marinade and added sauce. I was expecting this to be wrapped up, but it was more an open-face naan with the chicken covering the top. Rice pilaf was savory, I'd rather not know just how many calories are included, the rice was still moist even after reheating the next day.

However, the dining room was a little too dark, making it difficult to fully enjoy the meal. Unfortunately, the food was just average.
