We went to T. Lawson's Grill for dinner Friday night. While there we were favored by a visit, a chat and a photo op with a Grand Rivers icon, Chip Tullar. How remarkable it is, that in a town with a population of less than 500, you can enjoy world class cuisine in a fun setting. The food was epic and the company was great. Stopped by this evening shortly after opened to get a carryout of wings. Advertised on site for $1 wings. We are camping at canal and opted to take back and watch the evening lake views. My husband went in and ordered(phone number only gives restaurant info and doesn't answer for orders). Got our order of two 12 pc wings plain and was presented bill for $18 for each order! He questioned and said the website shows $1 wings! Was informed this is only for dine in orders. Nowhere in the ad did it mention this. Nowhere. Another gentlemen walked in under same assumption of $1 wings and was doing a carryout order. He said same thing: does not say this in ad. The response to him and my husband was oh well, it's only dine in. Rude. Points to consider: if only dine in, put that in the ad. And answer your phone calls instead of saying will see you at the homestead. And, carryout orders only require putting order together and collecting money. No waitress, dishes, tables, etc. Less labor intensive, less cost. We had our wings, pd the cost, they did taste good, but the experience getting them was less than desirable. Rethink your policy. And I hope management reads this and acts. For many people take out is necessary. For me, I avoid crowds due to very low immunity from 23 rounds of chemo, which is unending. For many, other health issues make it a challenge. Or work, childcare issues, schedules. Be glad people still want your food. Be gracious. read more

We flew in to the local airport hoping to have dinner in town around 6pm. Saturday Night, they were busy. We were on the wait list at 6:05pm. Young blond girl hostess, honestly said it would be an hour wait. Since there were no other choices for restaurants in this town, we had to wait. We walked around, went across the street and looked in the busy busy gift shops, and after 45 min we headed back. We sat around the bar inside for another 30 min. After an hour and a half, and a wait watching the hostess chat it up for 15+ min with her friends, whom were sitting and holding up a table, they finally left and cleared the table for us. We finally got a table just before "kitchen" closing time, and that the menu was limited to only a few items. We were next to the hostess stand, and we got to watch the hostess rudely enjoy telling everyone coming in that they weren't seating because it was closing in an hour. She looked happy saying it, and enjoyed the hungry peoples disappointment. She was clearly ready to NOT be there. Even though none of her negative vibes were aimed at us directly, I think our hostess set the mood for our evening. It was obvious to me that all these places in Grand River (Patty's 1880s, and this place) just believe they will always have more customers than they need, and they treat people as such. Or maybe it's hard to get help that enjoys their job in this area with what they are willing to pay??? IDK ..... Not impressed. Next time we fly in, we will just go to Cracker Barrel, the other direction from Grand River area. The food was OK and our server was nice, but the overall vibe was neg. No thanks. read more

We was so excited about coming here it was a really big let down. My wife picked a cheeseburger with tots. While I went with the house special for the day a burger with bacon onion straws and special sauce I choose Mac n cheese as my side (it was cold). The best thing we got was the pretzel with cheese it was great and really large. They only do carry out at this time but plenty of seats outside restaurant. This place is fantastic! My husband and I had the bbq chicken dish and the ribs and thought they were fantastic. The sweet tea is awesome and their dessert menu looks to die for. They even have vegan options for those who choose to avoid meat with the impossible burger! My husband & I went in for lunch at the bar. Bartender asked for IDs (ordered beer) my husband had his, didn't. I am 60, we grabbed my wallet out of car & put our name on wait list for table. We ordered the pretzel appetizer (pretzel was MASSIVE with a generous dish of fresh beer cheese) the fish tacos (the best damn fish tacos I've EVER had) the fried chicken sandwich and the Copper Kings Burger. The fried chicken sandwich was good, would be a lot better if they had dipped it in sauce or added more sauce on the sandwich. The burger looked good and was topped with pimento cheese. I am a previous customer from the last time it was open. And had been there when opened back up with a limited menu with no complaint. They said then the full menu would return in November. Had been there many times before and recommended and it to several people. Today I was very surprised to find an altered menu. Nothing as good as before. Selection was poor in my opinion. I did order the 16 ounce ribeye that was very good. The sides that were offered were cream corn, colored potatoes, or asparagus. No side salad or baked potato. I was billed $55 For my steak, cream corn and diced potatoes. The menu showed the price to be $53. I talked to the manager about it . I said I wasn't worried about the extra money but they should sort this out. He said it was a computer glitch . I would not recommend T Lawson's to anyone now. read more

T. Lawson's Grill was great! I feel that there is something for everyone. For appetizer I recommend the loaded tater tots, delish! For Dinner you can't go wrong. We enjoyed a burger and the shrimp and grits. Other members on our party had fish tacos, fish sandwich , and chicken tenders. All were equally as good. The portions were good and the prices were reasonable. This restaurant does feel small. Not in a bad way, but I imagine if there was a wait it would be long. There wasn't a wait when we went. We were able to get right in and our food was brought out super quick. You can sit in the bar area without being seated if there are open seats so that is an option. There is not outdoor seating, but I feel this is something they should look into adding. Overall, good food, good service, good restaurant. 5 stars read more

The menu is very good with a bit for everyone. We ordered three appetizers, the cheese bites, the tots, and crab patties. All were delicious. I had the ribeye, and it was cooked to perfection. We sat outside. The flies were annoying but the server turned the fan on and that alleviated the fly issue. The server was very sweet and friendly. We had lunch on a Thursday there. The appetizer was crab cakes. Very delicious. I had the shrimp tacos and my daughter had the shrimp and grits. My son had chicken strips. It was all worth the wait. Need to fix the menu. I ordered the Mable's Smokehouse Chicken, which was delicious, but before ordering the 2 sides that came with it I asked the waitress if there was an up charge for the loaded potato (which was mentioned along the other sides). She said no, that I could choose any that were listed with no up charge. When the bill came, there was an additional $2.50 added to have the baked potato loaded. I told the waitress that I had asked her beforehand, and she said, "I didn't know". Not a good business practice! Either show on the menu what sides are included with the meal without an up charge or inform your servers what includes said charge. Wasn't happy! read more

This was such a great place to eat. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We only stopped for a light lunch and most of us enjoyed a great house salad. My friend ordered the Special Valentine's dessert and it looked great and was very delicious according to her and a few others that helped her eat it. The atmosphere was so nice, enjoyed reading the history of the place on the menu and looking at all the old items placed around the grill. Highly enjoyed my time there. read more

Dinner at the newly re-opened T-Lawson's left a lot to be desired. We were really hoping they would get it right! We made a reservation, were on time, seated immediately by a friendly hostess. The ambiance was lovely and the restaurant beautifully decorated. Took quite some time to get our drinks from the bar, which didn't have any taste of alcohol... at $11 a piece. We had the cheese curds, which were amazing. One member of our party ordered the BLT salad which came out with no dressing. She asked for more dressing and was told it was already mixed in, so they couldn't provide more. We had the ricotta chicken pasta which had a TON of asparagus, but it was 99% asparagus stalk that was too hard to eat or cut into. The chicken was dry. The noodles and cream sauce by themselves were okay! One member of our party had the chicken tacos and said they were great. Our server never asked if we wanted more drinks, even with our completely empty glasses sitting in the middle of the table. We probably won't be back. I hope our experience was an exception and we just ordered wrong. read more
