Picking a new salon and stylist is scary, so I was very nervous to have someone new and unknown cut my hair. Luckily I had Jessi today, and she did a great job. She listened to what I wanted with my hair, and helped me update my style. I was so pleased that I didn't hesitate to book my next appointment, which means I was very fortunate to have my first try work out so well. They are also open Saturday and Sunday, which is great for me since I get home too late during the week. Horrible, unprofessional, immature staff. Stylist fucked up my hair so badly and the receptionist refused to put me in touch with the owner. She claimed the owner was on vacation, yet she came in while I was talking to the receptionist, then waltzed right out. Did not refund me nor offer to correct the terrible orange streaks in my hair. This is probably my nightmare and awful experience. I call them to see if they could do what I want it and they said yes come in to see your hair and the length. Once they measure my hair and test it and everything then I made an appointment and to make the appointment you need a credit card to leave half so you dont cancel it. To make this short they did my hair it was beatiful for 1 week and half then it turn like green then all just yellow like if it was just bleach. I just call them to tell them my story and instead of telling me come over and let me see what can I'd o for you. They told me that I probably need it a glaze and it costs me 40 dollars. After neglecting my hair for some time (no hair cut), I finally came into Knotz Hair Studio for a cut and blow. I was really anxious about a cut - between knowing that I would probably need a good few inches taken off to repair my dead ends, yet still wanting my flows hair that I can put in a ponytail - I was stressed. You know how it is, just because someone can blow, doesn't mean they can cut. Olivia was phenomenal. She looked at my hair, she asked questions & she listened. Oh and she is super sweet. My hair feels so light & healthy. It's shiny, it has bounce and I feel great. I can't thank Olivia enough for bringing my hair back to life. Sadly, she is leaving the salon, but I've been referred to Bethany (I've seen her work & liked) so I am already schedule for my next trim and I am confident that I will be in good hands. I had my hair cut yesterday at Knotz, my third visit since the pandemic began. The shop is immaculately clean. Your temperature is taken when you enter the shop. The number of customers in the shop is strictly limited, and everyone wears a mask and keeps social distance. Clear plexiglass barriers hang from the ceiling between the chairs and shampoo sinks. It feels very safe, indeed! The stylists at Knotz are excellent, and I cannot recommend them highly enough! read more

I really wish I can give this place a better rating - but I can't. For the past few months, I have been looking for a hair salon in the area. Usually, I go to Aveda in the city, but I live in Greenwich, CT and that's a far trip for me. I was recommended to this salon by a friend who only had great things to say - and has been coming here for years. Last Saturday, I had an appointment with Amanda (who is very nice) and the main purpose of my visit was to color my hair a chocolate brown. I did not receive a test on my arm to make sure I was not allergic to the chemicals/dye. The salon I usually go to (Aveda) has all organic products so I didn't think I would have an issue/reaction at this salon. Later that evening, I started getting these bumps all over my head which in turn led me to not be able to sleep for 3 days. I tried calling the salon on Monday, but they were closed. By Tuesday, I developed a full blown allergic reaction and the entire side of my head, near my hairline had clusters of huge bumps, and it was disgusting. My job involves me to interact with people on a daily basis, since I am a global event planner for a large company. The allergic reaction was so bad, I was unable to go into work this week and I had to see a doctor who prescribed me some cream to put on. When I spoke to the owner and described what happened, she seemed defensive. In fact, she told me that they did not do a test on me because I did not have any time. This statement does not make any sense and I was never asked if they can do a test to see if I was allergic. I tried to send pictures of what happened to me to their email. The manager called me once to say she did not receive it and I tried sending it a few more times. I spent around $130 dollars since I was a new customer and I was not offered a refund or an apology. I received more sympathy from my friend who referred me to this salon. Also, my hair color came out black and when I told the manager this - she said that I showed the hair dresser a pic of the color I wanted and so that's what they gave me. I kept saying that I wanted a chocolate brown color, but that's besides the point. The manager than continued to tell me that this is semi-permanent and it will wash out eventually. Note: If you are going to get your hair colored, please make sure they do a test on you before they proceed. The fact that I had to miss work, go see a doctor in urgent care is ridiculous and unacceptable. Tomorrow will be 1 week since I had my hair colored, and the reaction still has not gone away. read more

This saloon is OK, I used to be more happy after my visits though, lately I feel they are not so attentive with me, they didn't offer a drink when I came, when they used to ask... and my colorist was attending other customers at the same time, I felt like forgotten with the product on my head for more than 40 min without an alarm clock or something to rely on, as my hairdresser was with another customer. But again I guess is the rule in NY time is money! read more

As my senior prom was approaching, I was trying to find a salon in the Westchester area that could style an up-do the way I imagined. I wanted a low bun up-do with a braid on the side, or something in that nature. My mom, to our luck, found the business card of Jessie. After looking up her Instagram portfolio, I was amazed to see that the styles she had made was almost exactly what I was looking for. I called her and set up an appointment, and went to the salon with my cousin on the day of my prom. The hair salon is going under reconstruction, and it was buzzing with ladies. There were a lot of ladies walking out with praises of their new hair, and a lot of teens heading to prom were there as well. Jessie was the sweetest. She was nice, and was really understanding to what I was looking for. I pulled up the pictures from her IG profile and we decided to do a braided low bun with curls for texture. An hour later, she was done. I was extremely happy with me hair. She went beyond my expectations. I have NO idea how she managed to fit all of my hair into that bun, but she did it amazingly. She made me shake my hair as hard as I could to make sure that it was secure, and it lasted all night. Due to my layers of course there were a couple pieces that stuck out, but she gave me bobby pins just incase. I personally go to Gabi N, who is so talented when it comes to hair. Seriously. She completely transformed my drab hair and I think it's the best its looked in 23 years. Whatever your system is for appointment confirmations, cancellations or changes, there should be consistency. After totally frustrating me about not being able to keep a hair cutting appointment because I cancelled the coloring part, makes no sense. If time slots are scheduled for both, should it matter? And then, nine emails later, telling me that I can keep the appointment is even more frustrating. I have run a family business for over forty years, this is NOT GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE. read more

I got my hair done by Jenny and i absolutely love it! I have soooo much hair so it is such a long process to go blonde. She was so patient and so helpful while doing my hair, she also recommended and used this special treatment (only $15 more) which made the process longer, so my hair looked a little healthier after the bleaching process. First time and last experience: A few months back I got my hair done there. Hair dresser decided to do what she wanted to do versus what I asked. Dropped over $200. I had hair dye stains on my forehead and my hair color looked exactly the same as I walked in (for the exception of a hair trim and some layers). My corrective appointment was half assed. It was rushed highlight foils for just the top of my ears up. My hair was so badly ruined that I had serious breakage. I had to cut over 4 inches of my hair off. It's 7 months later. I've deep conditioned, used argan oils, and gentle products for my hair and I have to cut off more of my hair because it's still really damaged. The owner never bothered to call me and their correspondence letter to the better business bureau basically said they offered discounted services (JUST the new customer discount), "fixed" my hair (which was done incomplete and should not have been done the same week - I found THAT out the hard way), and that there was nothing else they would do. This is an expensive waste of your time. read more

I have never had a bad experience at Knotz. After a bad haircut and a worse dye job, I looked for a place that could do corrective color close to home. I don't know how it happened but the stars aligned four years ago and I have never looked back. I have worked with several stylists and all of them were professional, expert old-school hairdressers. Jenny was fantastic and did the original restore, I've also worked with Danielle and currently Francesca. She listens to what I want and takes the time to make sure the cut I request is realistic for my hair and face. I have curly hair and Francesca cut it wet first and then dry to see where the curl pattern will fall when I do it myself. It was an extra step that was much appreciated--and she is a brilliant colorist too. Definitely recommend. read more

I got married this past weekend, and after completing a Tough Mudder race with Anna, decided to use her and Gabby to do all of the womens' hair in my wedding. They were beyond amazing. Leading up to my wedding, Anna was attentive and responsive in helping me decide how I should wear my hair for my wedding. She even highlighted my extensions for me, as they were slightly off-color from the rest of my hair. Anna and Gabby are a dream team. They traveled to New York City during what was essentially a blizzard, without letting on that it was treacherous outside (so as not to panic me, the bride.) When they got there, they rolled through the timeline by first setting our curls one by one, then taking each one of us back to finish the job. They were a well-oiled machine. Any inconvenience (and there were probably several during a NYC snowstorm on a Saturday night) was never shared with me. My hair looked beautiful, and the style held all night. read more

Well whatever they use made my hair so soft it is like a newborns. It is horrible and has no body. I have thick hair with loads of body and they stripped the life out of it.
