The quality of the service is the worse . Had an appointment for blowdry and the stylist who shampoo and dry my hair had like a rude attitude. Not friendly at all . shampoo my hair for like 3 seconds the fist shampoo . 2 shampoo like 10 seconds . Then she asked me what products I like or use when I said Kérastase or Oribe she said no we don't have that in a rude way . I don't recommend this place at all . nodody was friendly and it was my first time there . Today I went to have color by Denise which was great and a hair cut by Mark. After my color was done for my on time appointment with Mark at 12. I was seated at his station. I was wondering why the salon aides were coming up to me asking if they could add $ to my meter. Never happened before and no explanation as to why. I sat and waited for him to finish with his prior client for 25 minutes and saw no end to their conversation and her hair cut. I realized that I would be extremely late for my next appointment and got up with wet hair to ask if I could reschedule for another day. They spoke to Mark and I was told he would be immediately right with me and to have a seat. When he finally came to cut my hair, the client he worked on prior to my appointment came up to us and kept interrupting him to ask him questions as to how she could get her hair to look like he created. He kept talking to her while cutting my hair. I received the worse hair cut I've ever had. It was never like this before AND the salon was quiet. I guess I wasn't important enough. read more

I have been going to Mark, the owners son, for at least 10 years. During the last haircut I had with him he paid no attention to me and made a mess of my hair disregarding all my previous guidelines. During the time he was supposed to be paying attention to my hair he spoke to various assistants at least 8 times and also looked at another customers folio in the next chair. I have never been so disappointed in what should have been a professional transaction. For $200 plus a bundle of tips including for Mark I (and you )deserve better. I had originally posted a review the day I got my hair done here, April 26th, but decided to delete it because I figured why not give it some time to see how it turns out in a few days. I didn't want to be rash in my decision as I was already quite irritated at the time. Now that a week has gone by, I realize how horrible my service truly was. First of all, Lindita was very cold and passive aggressive. I came in asking to go lighter, which I was then told that I booked the incorrect service. To which I respond asking what can we do with the time that we do have? She tells me she can do a balayage and that she'll do what she can. So I'm thinking okay this will be fine; these are professionals who do this all the time. I was sadly mistaken. She continued with my hair at an extremely fast pace, all while making comments to herself and her co-workers about how long it's taking. And again, I realize I made a mistake by cooking the wrong service, I've never dyed my hair lighter, only dark once. In that moment I would've appreciated honesty and her to say to me, "I'm sorry but I cannot do this work on your hair today due to the time constraints. Please try to rebook with the proper service," I would respected that rather than her doing a horrendous job for some quick cash. Another thing, slightly unrelated, there are so many employees here, yet they all seem to be standing around not doing much besides chatting with one another. At least that's what it looks like from a customers perspective. Nonetheless, I left the salon looking like a complete fool, on top of that it cost me upwards of $200 to look like an idiot. All that said, I have reached out in hopes of receiving a refund because no establishment should allow their employees to let paying customers leave the facility looking the way I did on April 26th. On another note, I went to the salon across the street and they fixed it completely with a proper balayage that looks absolutely amazing. The service was also much much better. read more

Continental 109 is certainly efficient in getting people changed, in their chair, getting your money and getting you out the door. Kind of like an assembly line. It was my first time there, and I was sent a request for my credit card before my appointment. The hair stylist I had quickly cut my hair about two inches shorter than what I had wanted. We must have had a miscommunication, but she surely did not do what I had wanted from the cut. I was left in shock looking at my very short hair as the woman who cut it disappeared and someone else came right over to ask for my money. I cannot even recall anyone's face. They popped in and out of my line of vision guiding me here and there before I even knew what was going on. I went to the salon looking forward to feeling pampered and anticipated loving my fresh new cut. I left feeling horrible and hating my hair. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. It was, as I stated, efficient enough, but their intention did not seem to want the customer to leave feeling wonderful, but more like, move right along lady, make way for the next credit card. read more

I have been a customer of continental for 35 years, always looking forward to my services here! however, in the passed 2 months the service I have received has prompted me to enlighten customers and potential customers. One particular "hairstylist" gave me a haircut that I immediately was not happy with bc it was unmanagable. Followed with a phone call that was not returned and forced to go to another hairstylist bc said "hairstylist" usually doesn't perform haircuts, only color(only found this out AFTER she cut my hair). New hairstylist cut my hair and it was good and fixed the best she could. Went back 2 months later for a trim and she butchered my hair. As my daughters wedding is approaching, I felt compelled to continue going for my color with the same "hairstylist". She proceeded to leabe me sitting for more than the time needed, and when I needed to get up she told me to sit down. As I was being shampooed, said stylist came over and slapped dye on my eyebrows as I was being moved back and forth with my shampoo. needless to say that left me with caterpillar eyebrows that stained my skin so badly. After I was shampooed, no one came over to assist me with combing or brushing out my hair and I had to search for a brush. Poor service that resulted in me not being able to go back and it's such a shame bc I spent so many years here. read more

This is an awful place that use to be good many years ago. I agree with the reviews that are previously made about they efficiently get you in, and render very poor quality service. I was charged on three separate occasions for a full single process and the woman only colored my roots. I even had lines left on my head where the color never matched the ends. The colorist was suppose to be the best colorist I was told! The last time I went thinking that she was waiting for my hair to grow out a little more as she had said to color it, she made my hair so light on the roots it looked like I had colored it myself with home box dye. She never touched my entire head not even a glaze or combing through the color yet I paid for the full single process each time. They are chintzy and not at all polite. I gave them three chances to give me what I had paid for and they could not have cared less. Really listen to these reviews that are negative. They also say they are charging one amount to receive a service and suggest a simple procedure but then try and get you to do full heads of highlights to get more money instead. If you agree to get a whole head of highlights you might get courteous reliable service, I say might because I do not know if you would get any better service. I cancelled any further appointments. My hair looked absolutely terrible. I went back to the salon I was going to in New York and I am so glad I returned to them. It is sad what this salon has turned into. I spent literally 3 years with my hair looking a hot mess because I really wanted to find someone I could blindly trust with my hair. After moving to New Rochelle, I decided I really needed to just go somewhere and try it out. I did a ton of research, and saw Continental 109 had great reviews. I booked a haircut appointment and was seen by Keonna. Long story short, I've been going to her ever since! She has gifted hands. When she cuts my hair my hair grows incredibly fast. I had such an amazing experience here this morning! I just moved to the area and was in desperate need of a hair refresh. I had Alyssa do my highlights and Danilyn do my cut, and both did such an amazing job, not only in execution but in helping me figure out what I wanted in the first place. My highlights look natural and are placed so they'll grow out well, and my cut is exactly what I wanted - keep the length but add more movement. The price was less expensive than what I'm used to paying in Brooklyn, NYC and the quality is just as great (if not better)! On top of that, literally everyone in the salon went out of their way to be so friendly and helpful. I brought my 3-month-old son with me (I didn't have anyone to watch him) and the whole team went out of their way to help us out - from finding a place to stash his stroller so I could watch him while I was getting my foils, to holding and walking him around when he got a little fussy... someone actually even offered to change his diaper for me!!! Places like this are why I'm so happy to have moved to Bronxville. read more

Before I became carless, I used to come up here all the way from Queens just so I can get a great cut. Marc is a brilliant stylist and getting a cut is all about who is cutting your hair...not so much the salon itself. He's attentive but quick and will give you his input. The salon itself is high end, clean and modern, get comfortable with a mag and some coffee and then get a great wash with Fekkai products. They have many stylists here but I can't attest to their cutting skills...I imagine they're good since Marc oversees training. I've had my hair blow dried by 3 or 4 different girls and it always came out great. Service is excellent and accommodating. Beauty doesn't come cheap. I can't wait to go back though. read more

This place is very nice if you're into being pampered. They will pamper you to high heaven but it doesn't mean they know hair. I had called for a haircut, which was listed for $55 on the website, but once I said I had curly hair they insisted I do it with someone who's a specialist and the price had to be raised to $95. I accepted because they appeared so confident in this person, claiming that she knew curly because she was curly herself, and so on. Once I arrived, the lady who cut my hair was super nice but not only did she NOT have curly hair, she had no idea what i was talking about when I spoke about curl types (2a versus 4c). I also had to explain sulfates in shampoos and the damage silicones can cause on curly hair. How this is the "specialist" on curly is beyond me. Maybe this is more of a reflection on their front desk but I did feel deceived by the salon. I recommend this salon if you have straight hair and really value being offered tea every 5 minutes but I would prefer a place that looked like a hole in the wall if it meant that they actually knew curly hair. The place looks great from the outside and everyone seems fake-friendly, you know, like how american service always is. They're just being nice because this country is trained to value customer service so much but deep inside they really don't care about you. So you'll probably have a good time if you have type 1 hair but not if you have anything beyond a 3a. Not impressed. read more

I got a haircut from Steven and he gave me what I can only describe as a mullet. I then cut my hair about 5 inches myself to fix it and loved it. They asked me to come back to try to fix the cut I did and even it out if needed & I got basically a mini version of the mullet again. I'm 21 and I've never gotten a bad hair cut in my life. I am heartbroken and I can't even look in a mirror. Please do not go here if you have curly hair. My hair is ruined. read more

She has been a client for over 5 years, and while she is not a YELPer, she asked me to post her review, in her own words. What you are about to read are directly from her: I've been going to Continental 109 for over 5 years. in a world where customer reviews on sights like this are so important, I don't know why I never did this (or asked my husband to put it up for me) but figured it's never too late. Their entire staff are lovely and talented. Denise in particular is a true artist, at times a miracle worker! I don't think there is a colorist on par with her anywhere in Westchester County, she's a rock star! I must also give big credit to Gina, Raquel and Marilyn, who do my blowouts. Over the last few years, several dedicated blowout salons have opened all over the area. I tried a few, but ultimately none were nearly as satisfying a experience. These three girls really know what they're doing, and, just as important, they seem to truly take pride in what they do, and love what they are doing. Aside from the overall quality of their work, which is EXCELLENT, they also do their best to accommodate me when I need to squeeze in an appointment on short notice. Just a great salon, and a great business. They care about their clients, they care about their reputation, and they take pride in their work. I never fail to leave there with a smile on my face. Buckle up people cause this is a long review! What an INCREDIBLE experience I had here! I came here for my first time around September for a haircut. I scheduled my appointment online, which is super convenient, with Gabrielle. She cut off a good 6 inches and it looked amazing! She knew exactly how I wanted it cut and asked all the right questions. Flash forward to a week ago. I had horrible brassy orangey blonde hair from a previous color I did in the summer along with my dark brown roots coming in. I showed Gabrielle a picture of an ashy blonde hair color. She knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it, again asking all the right questions, making sure I was 100% happy with everything. She spent 4 hours doing highlights and lowlights. While 4 hours is a long time, it was because Gabrielle wanted to make sure it was absolutely perfect with none of the orange left in my hair. She was so detailed with every strand of hair. The entire time I sat there, Gabrielle made sure I was okay, asking if I needed anything, and even making sure my mom was okay while she sat there waiting. My hair turned out absolutely PERFECT!! I went to this place for the first time few weeks ago because the salon where I used to go is in Scarsdale and always fully booked. I was hoping it would be my new go to salon as its only a 5 minute walk from me. I normally ask for a senior hairstylist, but Im just getting an inch trim so I thought who can possibly fuck up a trim. Guess what?!? I decided to try Continental after my friend recommended them. I have long, naturally straight hair and my friend, who also has long hair told me she pays $65 to see Denise at Continental. I was very happy to hear that she had an opening when I called. Long story short, she had me wait 10 minutes before being seen. I showed her a picture of what I wanted (simple, shoulder length hair, no layers, nothing fancy) and she had me stand and she cut some of my hair before washing it. After it was washed, Denise said she had to check on a client. I waited another 5 minutes for her to return and she cut my hair in about 5 minutes before saying she needed to go check on a client again. After another 5 minutes, she had the girl who washed my hair start blow drying it (before I gave her the "OK"!). Denise came back, finished blow drying it (neither of them put any product in my hair) and while Denise was finishing, a colleague walked over and Denise got nasty with her about someone's color. After all was said and done, I go to the counter and they tell me it's $75. My cut isn't bad...just shorter than I wanted and it didn't look like the picture I showed her. I should have stuck to my regular girl Bethany at Knotz in New Rochelle. At least she spends the time making sure my hair is perfect, and blow dries hair amazingly! read more

Best haircut of my life! Raquel is a genius! I went in not completely sure of what I wanted and Raquel worked to find the best cut for my lifestyle and face shape. So surprised by the negative reviews! I've been getting my hair done at Continental for years and have never had a bad experience. I grew up in the area and I still travel from Manhattan to get my hair done there. I've been going to Jackie for several years now and she is the BEST! Great haircuts, and even better color. She will meticulously paint balayage highlights on to each tiny piece of hair, giving you the most natural look possible. She's a true artist. I have very thick hair, so this process can take hours, but the end result is 100% worth it. And unlike many stylists, she will be totally honest with you about what will look good and what won't, crafting a gorgeous style that fits your hair type, face shape, personality and lifestyle. I can't say I have had a great haircut since I moved to DC fifteen years ago and sadly left behind my 5-star stylist Nick DeVincenzo. Over the recent holidays, my hair was looking so particularly "unkempt" that I decided to drive up to Bronxville. It was always so amazing to watch Nick in action. He knows hair so well, I am sure he could do a better job in his sleep than most of his competition. My new cut is effortless to maintain and has never looked better.
