This is a nice convenience store. They have drinks, candy, chips. They also have bags on display and a restaurant for to go orders inside.

All of the food here is good, but especially the fresh squeezed orange juice, the bacon, the biscuits, and the jellies, jams, and sauces. You can't go wrong with anything at this place. It is just consistent and trustworthy every single time I go there. The last three times I have been to this location, the service and the staff, from the hostess to the bartender to the server at my table to the manager coming by to check on us, were all incredible. Pro tip...I can't remember the name of it, but that homemade jalapeño hot sauce is divine. It goes good on almost anything savory, especially egg dishes and biscuits. I'm sure I will be back soon!

Hostess was very pleasant. Line to get on the wait-list moved efficiently. Our waitress, Caitlin, was wonderful! She was patient as I needed more time to decide on my order & as my two-year very s l o w l y placed his order request for pancakes. I ordered the avocado toast & enjoyed it! The restaurant is bright and has modern light fixtures. I really enjoyed the music! I'm an 80s baby & heard many of the songs that were popular when I was in grade school.

What makes it even sadder in the case of Santos, is they tried to make the exterior a little more enjoyable by putting some nice tables and even a swing outside. Sadly, without any plants separating the area from the parking lot, the entire vibe of this coffee shop, both looking out from inside and sitting outside is not that great. But, vibe aside, let's talk about how it got here. Santos is a family owned small chain. The main owner, Wendy Madden, opened the first coffee shop in 1993 in Tuscaloosa and since expanded into Santos Coffee we know today. The establishment pays homage to Guatemalan saints and ancestral lands where coffee is sourced from, from family's original plantations. The beans are roasted in Birmingham after being imported from Guatemala. The coffee is absolutely excellent here. Seriously, a very tasty latte. Oddly, they do not have an option to get it in a mug, so there is no way to avoid the plastic coating and the flimsy paper cups. Also there wasn't even a design on top of the latte...but ok, maybe that's slightly picky to highlight. Thus, Santos as a whole is a good coffee shop for to go orders. With excellent coffee quality, this is where they really shine. With that said, the vibe and serving methods need work.

The food was average (wings and fries) it was around 5:30/6:00 on a Thursday so the restaurant was pretty empty. After our meal, we sat there and chatted for 20 minutes (maybe) when our sweet waiter asked that we should basically take our conversation elsewhere. I could tell he was very uncomfortable asking us to leave but I was MORTIFIED. If there was a crowd waiting to be seated - ok fine, but there was not. If we were loud - ok fine, but we were not. We are two older ladies catching up on life. I don't care if the food was wrapped in gold and danced around the table...I will not be going back. Our waiter was told to ask us to leave by management (convinced of it)

After being seated in the bar area, we were informed by our server that only appetizers were available. This was both confusing and disappointing, as it does not align with reasonable expectations for a restaurant still open for regular business. If the kitchen is no longer able or willing to prepare full menu items well before closing, that policy should be clearly communicated--either through adjusted hours or by informing guests upon arrival. Otherwise, it creates the impression of inconsistent operations or a lack of coordination between management and staff. Situations like this suggest a need for clearer operational standards, better communication, and stronger staff alignment with customer service expectations. Guests should not feel discouraged from dining simply because they arrive within what should be standard service hours. Overall, the experience reflects an opportunity for improvement in both management practices and customer hospitality.
