    Philly steak combo
    Tyler M.

Located on the busiest street in Homewood where parking can be a chore at times. You walk inside and the menu is on the wall and you order. The only place to dine "in" is outside in the back which was fine because it's a good weather day but in winter time I'd suggest getting to go. I got the Philly steak combo which I liked. The baked pita was different for a Philly cheese steak but it worked. The fries have a spice seasoning on them which I liked but wife didn't. She'll stick with a bag of chips next time. She did love her BLT though. Many items on the menu id like to try so we'll be back soon to try more.

Our family loves Sams! It's a great neighborhood grill with cheeseburgers, gyros, chicken fingers, and so. Always a happy staff and good, fast food.

I have passed by this place more times than I can even fathom to count. I always have thought of this place as a sandwich place, with a Caribbean feel because of the facade. So I wasn't sure what to think when my wife suggested we go for lunch since she is on summer. Once she started reading the menu, we quickly realized it was Mediterranean food. Definitely not uncommon for Birmingham. But we love it and decided to go for it. The area where you order is small. You might could fit 15 people in there standing. But it would start to feel tight. Their menu is up on the wall and is pretty straight forward. I ordered the Greek salad with gyro meat on top. My wife got the gyro plate. I noticed while we were still deciding that they had mint tea. So instead of what I would normally do with access to a soda machine, I went with that. And I'm sure glad I did. Tasty and refreshing. As for the food, I took one look at the Gyro and thought "this is going to be dry" based on the cooked texture on the outside. Boy was I wrong! The outside was kind of a thin tasty bark and the inside was so tender and moist. Their hummus was also really good. I had no idea they had seating in the back! But that is where we sat. And with it being a nice weather day, no complaints there. We will definitely be back.

Updated review. *** I came back to try the Bacon Cheeseburger. While I will agree with other reviews it is really good it did not seem cooked to order. It appears to have been pre-cooked and just assembled like many fast food restaurants. I still will come back but probably stick with the Gyro. **** As with all restaurants in this area, parking can be a challenge. I had the Gyro Sandwich and order of fresh Pita Chips. The gyro was better than average. The pita chips were warm only thing missing would have been a small side of hummus or taziki sauce for dipping. All but a small area of bar seating are located outdoors about half covered and the other tables with an umbrella. So plan your visit based on the weather. I will definitely be back.

Bacon Cheeseburger and Cheese Fries (so much food and really good!)

Love this place! I have always enjoyed the fast casual greek places that serve gyros, burgers, and falafel. I really like how you can see them make everything to order right in front of you. Not to mention the price of a huge and I mean huge bacon cheeseburger is $5 and some cheese fries to boot was only $7.75 which is more than enough food for someone. The food: The burger was really good and honestly reminded me of a better Big Mac if im honest! The cheese fries are always super good with that classic nacho cheese-like sauce tossed all on top. I also got to try a gyro and was really impressed with the lamb meat in it. Overall, if your in the mood for some fast and actually pretty good quality greek food, this is the place to go in town!

The sandwich was simply good. The service was great. But the sandwich was good. My fries were fresh & hot. But the sandwich was so good. It was the kinda of sandwich that made you lick your fingers in between bites. I truly enjoyed it.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I searched for this joint on Yelp and couldn't find Sam's Deli & Grill, especially considering its prime spot near popular staples Dreamcakes & Saw's. Because I've been to Saw's a billion times, I'd never given this place much thought until me and D wanted breakfast sandwiches around 3 PM and struck out at Sam's Super Samwiches since they ran out of bacon (!?!?!?), didn't serve breakfast sandwiches past 11, and were indifferent to our potential business. This Sam's came to the rescue, as they served breakfast sandwiches all day, did have bacon in stock, and were quite welcoming and all smiles. My bacon, egg, and cheese was oozing hot on toasty bread and just what I needed. D got the sausage, egg, and cheese and was content. Reasonable prices too. The ordering area can get cramped, but there's a lot of seating outside and in what looked to be a side room. We want to come back another time to try the other menu offerings! Gyro's going on the list! Looks like closed Sundays.

There's a big shopping center parking lot with plenty of parking so that's not a concern. It's in more of an older shopping center in an area. That's not very well kept. Either way, we felt safe and wanted to try a new place for dinner. The Restaurant is very colorful and I love that about it. In the photos that I saw online, I didn't realize that the chairs were just covers that had all the beautiful colors but either way it's a lot for the eyes to take in. We arrived on a Friday evening close to 5 o'clock and we were the only ones there until we were just about to leave. I do believe that they have more orders that are picked up by DoorDash and delivery services. I was excited to try the stuffed grape leaves and my plan was to get the hummus with pita bread and add lamb to it for my entrée. Unfortunately, they were out of the stuffed grape leaves, and when I tried to order the hummus, they were also out of the hummus. That was unfortunate, but I went ahead and ordered the chicken Shawarma roll which came with french fries. We both liked our food, which was fresh and flavorful. The fries on my platter don't look appetizing, but they came out hot in seasoned just right! We also ordered the fried green tomatoes and place of the stuffed grape leaves that we wanted as an appetizer. They came out hot and fresh and was very delicious. Both of our meals, including one soda for my son was only like $36 which is excellent in today's economy! We both also took some of our food home so the portions are good. Overall a good experience. I'd definitely try it again. It's not one of my top choices with all that Birmingham has to offer but definitely worth coming back to.

With all of the mixing of the different flavors together, it was completely disgsting and inedible. Next, I went with a friend who had never tried Ethiopian to eat dine-in, thinking that hey, maybe it was an issue of getting take out. So disappointed. The food is SO SALTY that all I could taste was salt. Ethiopian food is known for robust, unique flavors and I absolutely love berebere. Couldn't taste any of those spices or flavors. Will never ever go back.

Had a couple of excellent drinks along with the manoushi flatbread which was essentially a flatbread pizza with za'atar spices. Unbelievable. That said, the experience was a bit mixed. I visited on a Saturday around 2 p.m., and there were only two other parties dining, so I was surprised that the table we were seated at wasn't clean. There was a hair, food crumbs, and noticeable water stains on the table. Given the slower pace and higher price point, I was expecting a bit more attention to detail. As for the food, I may be a tougher critic when it comes to Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine since I lived in Michigan and have traveled to Greece. The hummus was definitely the highlight. Super creamy, and the meat on top was perfectly seasoned. The salad dressings were also delicious. Everything else was decent, but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, we visited during brunch hours, and I personally didn't love the brunch menu. I'd still be open to trying their dinner menu in the future if I'm craving this type of food.
