DON'T BOOK WITH ARA LEYVA! IG: ara_leyvaink She was flying out to Vegas and I managed to schedule a half sleeve of 3 angels while she was out here on July 24, 2023. To begin, she was more than an hour late to the time we had scheduled. Later on during the tattoo it came out that she was out partying late night. The tattoo was so rushed that she wasn't even going to let me see the tattoo after she was done. She immediately tried to wrap up my tattoo due to flying back out to Arizona that same night and not wanting to miss her flight. On August 2, 2023 I reached back out and told her I felt the tattoo needed some touch ups on detailing and shading which she said she would be back out in October and fix it for me. Some wings on the angels have no feather detail while others do. The shading is also very uneven. One of the angels eyes look cross eyed and the fingers on another are so uneven and look like Mikey mouse fingers. I gave her a good tip the initial session and even advised her that I would be giving her another tip for having her fix my tattoo and compensate her time. On October 8th I reached back out asking her a timeframe as to when she would be back out in Vegas to only find out she cancelled her trip. It got to the point where I started looking into flying out to Arizona to get my tattoo fixed due to me not being happy with it. We were planning on me flying out November but because my work schedule got busy we never set a date. On December 5th I reached back out and told her I would like to set something up forsure for January to get it fixed which she then proceeds to tell me she would be back out in Vegas for Christmas and staying a few extra days in which she would fix my tattoo. On December 21 I reached out inquiring about what day she would be able to fix my tattoo which December 26th was agreed upon. On the day of the 26th she messages me and tells me she canceled the the trip due to personal problems and she would be flying in next week. On December 28 I tried reaching out to get an idea of when she would get me in. No reply and didn't bother opening my message while still active on her page. On January 20, 2024 I reached out again while still being patient and understanding and still no reply, no open message while still posting and being active on her IG page and posting she has available dates to tattoo on her broadcast channel but avoiding my messages. I have even texted her with no response. Completely unprofessional and uncalled for. Sad this is coming from an artist that works out of a reputable shop. I am now in the process of talking with numerous other tattoo artists out of Las Vegas to fix my tattoo that she did not complete and having to pay another $800. Pictures of reference. read more

How does a professional tattoo artist destroy a flash tattoo? Nothing extravagant, a butterfly? Shephard really screwed me over with his line work. I don't suggest If you're an attractive woman to go to him unless you want to be sexually harassed. He inappropriately tried to use my chest as a rest area for his arms while tattooing my neck. Then on my second tattoo, my 7 year old can draw better than what he did. All he had to do was trace but instead gave me a silly looking butterfly. Unbelievable. read more

Giving it two stars because I don't blame the tattoo shop they have some dope tattoo artist I even got my first tattoo with Ortega ink which I should of gone to I the first place he gets 5 stars but at SHEPARD really effed me over:( I really wanted to love it and he even tried fixing it but his fixing just made it look even uglier with white ink in weird places he didn't want to give me my money back which I can care less about but he really said there's nothing I can do about it!!! I got a full stomach tattoo from Andres Ortega in August. I emailed Ortega in February to come back in and finish the top of my tattoo and get a touch up on my belly button. I emailed and sent pictures of the tattoo and showed what part looks unfinished. I emailed again at the end of February and no response. I emailed again in March and was told that Ortega only books full day sessions. I then got Ortega to possibly book me on May 12th which I never got a response back or a confirmation. I emailed in July once again and he said he would get back to me. I am so disappointed I spent a lot of money on my tattoo and I waited months for my original appointment. I was even willing to pay if needed for the touch up and finish my tattoo. However, I am just being ignored at this point. read more

The shop has an amazing atmosphere and all of the artists are so chill and kind. I love this shop! Reccently got another peice added to my Little Mermaid half sleeve by Joshua Hartsfield. I adore his work, especially disney and horror movie ink! You get insane quality with him and he will do everything to make sure your tattoo is better than you would have imagined. Highly reccomend seeing him for your ink, i followed him for 6 years on facebook, and seeing the insane progress in that short time span in mind boggling. I am happy I finally took the leap to see him, I will never go to another artist. read more

I have a few friends who saw Tommy Lee, so I started to research his work and see what all the hype was about. Oh my god, he is phenomenal. He is the best artist I have seen. He is so very precise, honest, reliable, and knows what he is doing! He did a portrait on my leg of Lucy and Desi and its all I ever hoped for and more. He's pretty damn awesome. And of course easy to talk to, so that makes it a better experience as well. I recommend him to anyone and everyone now! Also if your looking for someone to do biomech work, Anthony Diaz does my boyfriends tattoos. He's awesome to say the least. This is going to be a long review based on my experience with a tattoo artist at knucklehead tattoo. Fransisco. (Pg tattoo) on Instagram. So for the past couple months i have been trying to get him to do my sleeve and revamp it from another tattoo artist. Anyway, the first time he rescheduled my appointment he claimed he messed up his pinky and had to go to urgent care... turns out he lied.. that picture he sent me was from days prior and he was at a bar (i saw on his Instagram story) that's how i found him by the way....so obviously he just didn't want to do my tattoo. I blew it off and rescheduled yet again with him figuring he wouldn't cancel again. I like to give second chances. Well 2 days prior to my appointment i reached out to Francisco to confirm my appointment w/him... no reply. I texted again the following day making sure we're still on and still NO REPLY. I called the tattoo shop and he wasn't in but the guy i spoke with said he'd reach out.. i didn't hear from Francisco until the day of my appointment a few hours before it was scheduled. He claimed the tattoo shop was closed that day. Seriously dude?! You didn't know this 2 days ago?! So unprofessional and i will take my business somewhere else. I can't believe how shady he is and how he doesn't communicate with clients. The only good thing is that i got my deposit back. read more

When I first tried to get an appointment with Alex(Panda) I emailed him. Telling him what work I want done, a few days past and I do not get a response, so I tried to email him once again and still nothing. I decide to go in the shop to see if I can get an appointment. So I noticed there's no walk in artist available. I decided to go elsewhere to go get the tattoo I wanted. I decided to give a different artist a chance to tattoo me, I did have luck with Angel. When I was getting tattoo a woman comes in and was looking for Ortega an artist said he wasn't in, but Ortega was right there and the woman tells the artist that she tried to get into contact with him, basically the same way I did. Meanwhile when I'm getting tattooed, my artist and another are talking about what styles they will not do on people. Which is understandable. So I put two and two together and realize these artist will not respond back if they don't want you to do the tattoo you want. My tattoo I got done there's looks...ok it's a little scratchy looking but I got a hold of an artist at a different shop to touch it up. So be wary if they do not respond to you most likely it's because they do not want to do your tattoo. read more

The shop manager was amazing. This review is on Ara or ara_leyvaink on Instagram an artist. Started a large piece with her while she was at another shop. She moved to knucklehead and her attitude toward quality work completely went to trash. She was a no show to an appointment with no communication. I assumed a family emergency and texted saying I hope everything is okay (got a response the next day after management was involved) and then we rescheduled, she showed two hours late and did not tattoo me for near the same amount of time she used to. She didn't even know what section of the tattoo we were working on! She took several 30 min smoke brakes and I was not pleased with it at all. Then this last session to finish the piece she confirmed with me the day before and day of then asked to push back an hour because she "needed to grab more supplies"and then was a no show AGAIN! After an hour of waiting... two hours past the apt time I left because she did not respond to my text nor call. I got the managers number and he was very polite and stated he would refund me the deposit if she continued to not respond. Luckily she refunded me my deposit. No apology or anything. Great way to conduct business right? Spoke to another artists and they said she is hard to get ahold of and apologized for how she does business. I love her work when she's focused and does her job but that is not the case at this shop. Her attitude towards work went into the trash and cared more about hanging out then working. I will not do work with her again. I'm blown away by how poor her communication has become. read more

The work was amazing by Francisco (@pg_tattoo), however we had 3 scheduled appointments to do a sleeve but he cancelled the first one 16 minutes prior to my appointment time stating he had a cold, this was on a Sunday. He met his obligation the second time. We had rescheduled to make up for my first session for a different Sunday and he sent a text cancelling on the same day as my appointment AGAIN. I have texted him multiple times throughout this process and received little to no response. I was not surprised he cancelled but definitely disappointed. Like I said his work was amazing; I have received many compliments, however the communication is so bad. I would recommend this place as all the artists work looks phenomenal, just don't go with Francisco unless you are ok w/being cancelled on. read more

I've been to tattoo shops all over the US and probably a dozen in AZ for the past 20+ years. Knucklehead Tattoo has the best atmosphere out of every shop I've been in. You can tell when an artist in a shop is just there for the payday and doesn't care about the other artist's or the customer. At Knucklehead they're more like family and less like competition for each other so that alone makes for a great shop. You'll end up wasting your money if you go anywhere else... read more

This Tattoo Shop literally has THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. So I'm a tattoo collector and currently have over 30 hours of tattoo work thus far on my arms and stomach. My first interaction at Knucklehead was with an artist by the name of Chris, fantastic artist btw, however as a customer with good money I was extremely dissatisfied with the way I was treated. I was able to schedule an appointment with Chris fairly easy but when it came down to going to the shop to leave a deposit and discuss what work I wanted he fell short. And after a week of trying to leave this artist a deposit he agreed I could go in and get my work done and provide the deposit when I got there. We agreed on a date and time that would work and sure as shit when the day came I received a text message last minute saying that he went on an out town trip last minute and wouldn't be able to tattoo me until we scheduled a new appointment. I don't know about anyone else but my time and money is very valuable and to be pushed off and pushed off and pushed off is not a way to receive my business.. that was a few months ago and my second experience which was very recent this October is what is prompting this review. I was taking my sister to get her very first tattoo and my family wanted to be involved as she was barely turning 20 and our parents and youngest sister wanted to go with us. I've been to knuckle head and I know that they have a waiting area so on a Saturday night around 8pm we headed to the shop. We live relatively close as we're on the West Side of town and we're down the street. Walking up to the store 2 artists were standing out side smoking weed, But as we approached the door they looked at us like we had no business being there and I even tried to say "hello" and didn't receive more than a blank stare back. Entering the shop was no different as available artists stared at my small family unit as if they had never seen new customers before. There were a couple of artists tattooing and the shop was relatively quiet, approaching the front desk we were greeted briefly and asked what we were interested in getting, my sister explained she only wanted a tiny ghost on her wrist and had a picture ready for whoever would tattoo her. The young lady at the front desk was the most pleasant part of this experience and very polite. She went and asked 3 available artists in the shop if they would be interested in tattooing my sister...All 3 declined and continued to go about their night doing nothing in a tattoo shop without so much as a second glance. Fortunately for us the shop TATTOO BOULEVARD, and artist Marcos, just a block away was open and able to give my sister a clean wrist piece in 15 minutes with no issues and providing a comfortable experience for my sister and my family who wanted to see her reaction to having a tattoo in her skin for the first time. Needless to say knucklehead tattoo will never receive my business, yes there are talented artists in the shop, but that is not an excuse for poor customer service and disrespectful looks. read more

so this isn't directed at knucklehead tattoo shop but this is where I went to get info to book tattoo with andres Ortega (Ortega ink) ... I guess... so I paid Ortega a $250 deposit for a tattoo he said was gonna cost me a couple thousand dollars and we made an appointment for 3 months out- during that time we discussed what we were gonna do and an exact amount which was $2500 - the day before my appt. he emailed me at 4pm and by 10pm when I saw email there was another one saying he canceled me.. I emailed him back and said why what's up- he said I took too long to respond but put my appt back on for the next day.. I showed up at exactly 10:am as we scheduled and he said he couldn't do my tattoo and he gave me my deposit back and said he does big tattoos and kind of acted like he didn't understand English and just like that he he just flaked out on me for no reason- remember we already spoke and came up with a plan and had art ready and it was my entire stomach and sides all the way up to my boobs and even in between all the way down my bikini line- you can't go bigger without tattooing my tits and that wasn't an option - on top of the $250 deposit he gave back to me I also brought $4000 in cash and showed him I had the $2500 plus potentially $1500 tip depending on how dope it was gonna be and I'm sure it would have been worth every penny- but he just started acting hella funny when some other girl showed up and just said he couldn't do it and if I wanted to do another appt it would be another 3 months out but no guarantees cus he spends more time with his kids then in the shop and he didn't know when hed actually be in the shop in the future- wtf does that mean so I couldnt even make another appt. yes he does amazing work but his professionalism is anything but this blew my mind I honestly felt like it was one of these too much of an ego thing going on said whatever then and left- thanks for wasting my time- the next day I seen he tattooed someone else so what really happened is he bumped me for someone he knows like a friend just cus he could this is so unprofessional and super foul- your friend can make an appointment like the rest of us- so yeah he's amazing but so are so many artist these days so I guess I need to Gina another artist at this caliber or better I have all the cash in the world if that's you hit me up if you book with Ortega don't plan on getting your tattoo or at least plan on having a 50/50 chance even with appt and deposit- super lame!!! read more

Had some work done there and its amazing, beautiful work...been trying to get touch up's done for over a year and half, fustrating because its fading in some parts and want them to look perfect, but trying to set up a touch up appointment for just an hour has been impossible. read more

I was a walk in to have a piercing done. The lady who did my piercing didn't really speak much. I was told to sit and lay back in the chair and next thing I know I was being pierced. She didn't offer any type of jewelry choice. Afterwards she didn't tell me how to care for my piercing. She didn't say good-bye after she collected my money but just let me walk out. I had to return to ask her how to take care of the piercing. I was told just to clean with peroxide. There were no offers of aftercare printouts or possible purchase of aftercare solutions. I don't think I would return for more piercings. read more

Got my first tat that was started in a diff state by another artist but completed by none other than Piggy...aka Jose Munoz. He was very detailed, attentive and patient with me because of my inexperience in the tat world. This was the best experience I could ever have imagined. My first guy acted like he was trying to tattoo my bone marrow and didn't do as good of work as Piggy. I have another session to complete the tat (that's better than I imagined already) before I can post before and after pics. I have family and friends local and out of state that want to come to him to get theirs. Most of the staff I came in contact with was very friendly and helped out with giving advice or compliments when taking a peek at him in progress. Not that he needed advice. More like them echoing what we had already discussed. My first tat was going to be my last because it was sooooo painful but now that I found Piggy, the sky is the limit!
